My wife & I arrived on a Friday afternoon, unloaded the luggage and checked out the 'lay-out'. Friday evening was a drive around the island sight-seeing & discovering places we had not taken time to find before. Met some other out-of-town friends unexpectedly when we picked a spot for dinner. A few minutes in Publix let us stock the kitchen with some 'goodies'. The after-dark sit & walk on the beach was pretty relaxin'. :-) As the windows face the east, the Saturday morning sun rise was unmistakeable. Fruit, 'goodies', and an ocean breeze on the balcony was a wonderful start to the day. The beach had swimmers, walkers, horse-back riders, and a few surfers hoping for waves big enough to ride. No children with us this trip, but there were some on a prior visit. Only enough bedding for a small slumber party. :-) The kids can choose between the pool, beach, tennis, running around on a large lawn, etc. The owner(s) was wonderful to work with. We received an e-mail with an information letter and there were additional books & a map of the area in the unit. Too many near-by attractions to mention them all; Amelia Island has history & nature. Everything inside was clean upon arrival, and some 'modernizing' has taken place. We intend to return, and, we are sharing this get-away spot with friends. We can see why whole months were blocked out on the calendar. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
