Our luxury one bedroom apartment owned by an English-Italian couple, is located a few streets from St Peter and Castel St. Angelo.
The apartment is about 60 sqm, on the top floor of a 1920's building. There is a lift and a full time caretaker, it has been fully renovated and includes all needed appliances. The apartment is very bright with stunning views. It has a modern and very spacious living room with a sofa bed that can comfortably sleep two, also a single bed futon.
Satellite TV is included as well as a DVD player and a CD stereo player and Wireless internet access.
The bedroom comes complete with a large cupboard with a large size double bed. High standard bathroom with new large shower and hair-dryer. The apartment is beautifully furnished with antique furniture and paintings and has just been redecoreted.
Bedroom and living room both have air conditioning. There is also central heating in all rooms, so that you can be comfortable if it is winter or summer.
The kitchen is completely equipped with a microwave, 4 burner gas range with oven, toaster, kettle, fridge, plus all the necessary cooking utensils.
A washing machine, vacuum cleaner, flat iron and ironing board and hair dryer complete the list of amenities.
The apartment is in walking distance form the sites of Rome- Piazza Navona- Piazza di Spagna- The Vatican Museum with the Sistine Chapel- Castel St. Angelo, the former tomb of Emperor Hadrian converted by the Popes as their fortress and where Tosca through herself in the river Tiber.
The narrow little roads around St. Peter's, the Borgo area, have a different feel and you can sense the hum of everyday life. Ordinary people live here and go about their daily business like their fellow Romans, who breath less holy air, away from the magnificence of the Vatican. Our electrician is the Pope's electrician.
Prati is a great shopping area for shoes, handbags and clothes in all price ranges and there are many tempting profumerie selling cosmetics and perfumes. A Saturday morning spent window-shopping in Via Cola di Rienzo you are ready for a more self-indulgence and pleasure in the fabulous food stores.
The gastronomia Franchi is right next to the Alladin's cave that is Castroni. Both of this food stores are irresistible. Franchi has a great salumeria counter piled high with every form of temptation, with cheeses from Italy, France, and Great Britten and many different hams and salamis. Deeper into store are prepared dishes like stuffed tomatoes and splendid looking shelled prawns, and Rome's favourite fried nibbles, which are prepared in batches. There is a wonderful selection of wines and many people come here for a gastronomic snack. Castroni sells groceries from all over the world. Across the road from Castroni there is a covered food market selling fish, meat, fruit and vegetable and not too far away, in Via Germanico, there is the restaurant Girarrosto which serves the best beef in Rome. There are many local pubs, pizzerias, restaurants and all the conveniences of modern living, such as beauty parlours, pharmacies, groceries, coffee shops, laundry shops, internet points , gelaterie (Ice Cream), Shoe Repair, Flower Shops, and the best mini market, just in the next building from ours.

Beautiful Apartment Near St. Peter's. English - Italian Owne
Year Purchased: 1920
Why the Owner Chose Vaticano (St. Peters & Vatican)
My father bought the apartments in 1920 and left them to the family in his will.
I am glad to have been so lucky to have my place in my city, it makes me feel I am still a Roman.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Vaticano and Prati. Although this area is dominated by St. Peter's dome, and the attractions of the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, food is what draws Romans to Prati. Two of the city's best food stores, Castroni and Franchi, on the main shopping street via Cola di Rienzo, are where Romans from all over the city stock up on prosciutto, cheese, salame and olive oil. In this distric you can see a great range of Historical ages and architectural style as you move away from the Roman Empire in the historic centre. Before Italy was unified the neighbourhood called Prati was just open fields and meadows (prati), but in 1880 careful planning and construction led to the ordered grid of streets that you see today.
St. Peter's dome acts as a homing beacon when exploring the city. The other main landmark is Castel St. Angelo, started life in AD139 as Hadrian's mausoleum. In its time it has been a palace, a stronghold and a prison. The Castle gets its name from the angel.
This was the tomb of Emperor Adrian and late it became the castle of the Popes. It was also the place where Tosca throw herself into to Tiber.
Best shopping street, with very good cover market and lots of good shops.

I was born in the apartment below ours. Our daughter lives in the other apartment opposite and it is very convenient to have my space yet so near my dear family as I am married to a wonderful English man and live a lot of the time in the UK. We have a daughter and two sons and 6 grandchildren.

We rented this apartment for a week's stay in Rome and loved it. It was in a quiet residential section of the city, within a five minute walk to the Vatican and a lovely shopping district. It was spotless and tastefully furnished. I can highly recommend it.

Thank you Clara for such a terrific place to call home while in Rome. Our family had a wonderful time during our two week stay at this Vatican area apartment. Everything was as advertised, and more. What we really enjoyed was the "quietness" of the building. It was conveniently located to everything that we wanted to see. The apartment itself was very nice, and a cozy place to retreat to after a busy day of sightseeing. We were able to cook a few meals, but were still able to easily walk to many great restaurants. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the pots and utensils that I needed to prepare meals. The proximity to Despar, the local corner store, and the market was wonderful. Castroni a specialty shop was also within a short walking distance. We enjoyed the tv/dvd player and movie selection, where we were able to watch the movie Roman Holiday in the evening. We loved seeing the sights of Rome as they were in the 1950's in the movie. The apartment was very close to both the metro and the bus stop. We liked being close to the sights so you could go and see many places in the evening - St. Peter's, Castel St Angelo, Piazza Navona, Bridge of Angels and our favorite the Old Bridge Gelateria. We would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone who was planning to visit Rome. We will definitely return.

Our one week stay in March 2011 was perfect. You could not ask for more in Rome accommodations. Great location, near to the bus stop (#40 is a good one to take to downtown); tram, subway (10min walk) or walking to major sites. We enjoyed the wonderful Prati neighbourhood with its trendy shopping, many restaurants and the SPAR grocery store 1/2 a block away. The apartment was very clean and comfortable with great views. Everything was as advertised. We would recommend this place to any of our friends. Thanks for a great stay. Karen and David
Owner response:We are very pleased they enjoyed their stay and the apartment so much.

We had a great time during our stay at this beautiful apartment in Rome. We visited Galleria Borghese, Castel Sant Angelo, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vatican museums and St. Peter's Basilica. On several occasions we talked to Mar and he has been very helpful to us. Thank you for everything and don't be surprised to hear from us again in the future, - Orest, Yana (my wife), and Kimon (my 10yr old son)

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to beautiful Rome in celebration of her 50th birthday. Our visit was certainly enhanced by our stay at this apartment. Conveniently located near to the Vatican and within easy walking distance to all the wonderful sights and sounds that Rome has to offer. The apartment was clean and well stocked with all that was necessary to relax, prepare meals, read, and plan for our days events. Near to food shopping and local restaurants certainly added to its convenience and charm. The view of the Vatican dome from the rooftop terrace was an added bonus. We would certainly recommend this property to friends and relatives traveling to Rome.

A great location and a lovely, safe and quiet neighbourhood retreat after Rome's hectic pace. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and although the kitchen was tiny, it served our needs. Sidis mini mart 2 minutes away was always handy as were some very good local restaurants within easy walking distance. We especially enjoyed riding the quaint elevator. A very good first time Roman experience we would recommend.

Clara’s Alberico apartment exceeded our expectations and perfectly suited our stay in the Eternal City for 11 days. The owner’s daughter, English-speaking, Francesca, proved to be gracious and personable, willing to answer our questions and give helpful advice upon arrival. Staying there provided an opportunity to be part of the rhythm and bustling life of the exciting city through integration with the locals. We felt very safe and enjoyed exploring a plethora of shops and eateries, while strolling through various residential neighborhoods. Relishing eating outdoors with the sight of Castel Sant’Angelo lit up in the background, we enjoyed dining in the leisurely Italian style—never any pressure to “turn the table.” Its close proximity to public transportation helped immensely. I had secured tickets to a double-decker sight-seeing bus before leaving the US, and the stop turned out to be a short walk away. This gave us the opportunity to get a feel for the city and plan our stops. When we arrived back at the apartment exhausted from sight-seeing and an unseasonable spell of hot weather, the air conditioner proved delightful. Also, we could either eat in or rest in its comfy environs to go out later to dine in the cool of the evening. I always enjoyed throwing open the shuttered windows in the morning to see the little swallows flying about with their high-pitched sounds. I would highly recommend this place, and hope to return in the future.

My family of four had a wonderful holiday at this apartment. Great location!!!! Right by Vatican, it is an eight minute walk to the metro stop, from the metro stop we were at the Colosseum in 25 minutes. Lots of dining and shops near the apartment. There is also a market on the next block, We were able to save a lot of money by using the market and having dinner at the apartment. I would definitely stay here again!
