Northwoods is a charming riverfront vacation cottage that has everything you'll need for a great wine country stay for four to eight guests. Located less than one mile from Healdsburg, Northwoods is the perfect choice for summer fun, or cozy winter getaways. There's a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, river views, an expansive deck, a 4-5 person Marquis spa, a private dock with kayaks, and a Weber gas BBQ grill. You'll love the contemplative stillness, sitting on the dock surrounded breathtaking scenery. The only likely interruptions will be the kerplunk of a fish, or croak of a bullfrog. You'll come away refreshed!

There are 3 bedrooms, with comfortable queen size beds and fine linens. A fourth sleeping area is the upstairs sitting room. It has a twin size daybed, plus a twin size trundle that rolls out from beneath. There is one full bath is upstairs, and one full bath on the lower level. The décor includes vintage, northwoods style birch and willow furnishings, plus leather seating in the living room.

For smaller groups, rates for 4 are available year 'round for 4+ nights stay (holidays and special events excepted), please ask. For larger groups, our Firefly Lodge is just 4 doors away on the same riverfront lane and sleeps 6-12 guests. Also nearby is our Riverwood Lodge that sleeps 6-14 and our Old River Lodge that sleeps 4-9. Note: Due to the peaceful and residential nature of the neighborhood parties and special events are not allowed, and use of the home is limited to the number of paying guests.

We invite you to visit our WineCountryLodges website for information on all four of our homes. Our beautiful riverside settings are tranquil. The soothing sounds of the river de-stress and relax those needing a break from the work world and city life. Listen to the sounds of nature and unwind while enjoying the charming accommodations, comfortable beds, the cozy fire, and a slower pace, while being a short mile, or so, from the hub of this world class wine producing region. At Wine Country Lodges, we've been inviting guests to enjoy the unique pleasures of Sonoma County Wine Country for over five years.

- “Three couples just stayed at the Northwoods Lodge and had a wonderful time. It was so nice to have our own private place to come "home" to after a day out visiting the wineries. At the end of the trip we spent two days in Napa. We were so glad that we spent most of trip in Healdsburg. It has great shopping, restaurants, and is small and quaint. The wineries are on quiet back roads with beautiful scenery. We hope to come back!”

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

Northwoods Lodge owner, Lisa Neisingh, grew up in a rural area of Sonoma County, and studied interior architecture and design at UCLA. She wanted to convey a relaxing, back-to-nature enviroment at Northwoods, and in furnishing the home, chose a "lakeside cabin" style of decorating that's comfortable and timeless, with special purchases of furnishings from a nostalgic era. In this charming, wooded setting guests are put at ease, and focus is placed on enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings.

Why the Owner Chose Healdsburg

Lisa acquired her first riverfront home, "Firefly",
just four days away, for the purpose of sharing great
times with her family and grandchildren.

Lisa's great-grandmother, was our first family member
here at Fitch Mountain, involved in running Healdsburg's
historic Camp Rose Inn.

The Unique Benefits of this House/Private Home

The peaceful riverfront setting is one of our
guests' favorite things about Northwoods Lodge,
with the summertime dock right at the water level,
and the home itself is charming. The large
riverview deck under the shade of redwoods and
bay trees is spacious and relaxing, too.

    • We hated to leave...the home was perfect for us although the weather a bit cooler than expected...we would have enjoyed the river more had it been hotter! We loved the area and found it very convenient. Healdsburg is great...this house is a perfect and quiet yet close enough to town!

    • We had a great stay at Northwoods. The house is lovely but we barely spent any time in it because the deck areas -- the large deck immediately behind the house and the small one right on the river -- were so pleasant. Having kayaks on hand right at the cabin was also a huge, huge plus. Jill also set us up with baby supplies (a portable crib, gates, etc.) which made the transition to staying there with a ten-month-old much smoother. I recommend the Northwoods Lodge!

    • We had a ball and the house was perfect. We were impressed with the cleanliness, detail and charm. We had a great time. It’s beautiful country and I’m so glad that’s where Deb chose to celebrate her 50th. We’ve been best friends since high school and travel together often; this was one of the best trips we’ve done. I manage a 345 room hotel and consequently pay attention to detail and you certainly have what a guest wants nailed. You couldn’t have done anything better short of stopping the rain!

    • We came to Healdsburg/Sonoma county for my 50th birthday and stayed at the Northwoods and what a great place! The day we flew in on, April 9th, was a cold rainy day but how nice it was when we opened the door to find a cozy fire waiting for us! We were also very pleased on how nice, clean and beautifully decorated the home was and it had everything you needed! The view from our deck was super and relaxing in the hot tub is a nice touch after shopping in Healdsburg and wine tasting. And the beds are GREAT! We highly recommed this property for a group of 4 - we are already talking about our next trip back and staying here. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home!

    • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Northwoods! Our one regret was that we didn't stay longer (only 3 nights)! Next year we hope to come back and stay for a week so we won't feel rushed to see the wineries and the towns and surrounding areas. The lodge itself was charming. Very nicely rennovated, clean and comfortable (especially the beds!) The hot tub was perfect after a day of winetasting (altho we like it a little hotter!) And sitting down by the river sipping our wine was perfect. One of our group enjoyed the kayack, while another enjoyed fishing. I'm a bird watcher so I had fun spotting Ospreys, great white egrets, mergansers and Stellar Jays (thanks for the binoculars & bird book!). Our stay was both relaxing and stimulating! Probably the only complaint was that the directions to the hot tub weren't real clear, and at night you really can't see what buttons you're pushing. All in All we had a terrific stay. Thanks!

    • The house was great to call 'home' for 5 days. We really enjoyed the ability to make meals, do laundry and just relax at a house rather than a hotel. We'd definitely come here again!
