Spectacular Door County Waterfront Cottages with Swimming Pool
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Sturgeon Bay
We chose Sturgeon Bay because of its location in Door County and because of its unique access to two great bodies of water, Lake Michigan and the bay of Green Bay. Situated in the heart of town, we are only blocks from the library, hospital, YMCA, post office, many churches and all of the shopping and dining we need.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The Marina Cottages have full access to all of the Shipyard community amenities including both the outdoor pool and clubhouse as well as the indoor pool and fitness center. There is a great outdoor fireplace where many of the residence and boaters gather at dusk to share their stories of the day and socialize. If you have boat(and we have several), then this is the place to be. The Marina Cottages overlook the marina basin filled with spectacular yachts!
Owner's Map of Sturgeon Bay
Growing up in Wisconsin I used to spend many summers in Door County with my grandparents who were avid boaters. When I got married my wife and I were once again drawn to the waters of Door County and have been spending our summers with the kids "up north" for the past 18 years.
In 2004 along with a business partner and friend we created The Shipyard, a unique waterfront community in the heart of Sturgeon Bay and CenterPointe Marina, a world class boating facility unmatched in the Great Lakes. To ensure that all members of the public could enjoy the lifestyle we created, we built what are known as The Marina Cottages and offer them throughout the year on either nightly or weekly rentals.

I have used the Marina Cottages 5 times in the past when closing big deals for my firm, and every time I have used the facilities at CenterPointe Marina, our clients were greeted by at least 2 staff members at the check in area (professionally dressed in uniform), we were then given a tour of the 3 story cottages and made aware of all of the amenities that they have to offer. Fully stocked kitchens made it much more economical to eat 3 meals a day and avoid the higher priced restaurant bills, the master bedroom has an incredible panoramic view of the waterfront, the 2nd level bedroom also has a great view of the waterfront, along with a clever TV entertainment area and balcony, the main level sitting area was used for quiet reading, cooking our meals, and closing our deals. The indoor pool/whirlpool/fitness center, was a great place to unwind after a long day and we all found the amenities to be first class. The outdoor pool/whirlpool looks like an incredible place to lounge around during the warmer summer months and I hope to return with clients for future business in those warmer months. The luxurious clubhouse with fireplace, Pioneer home theater system, free Internet, gourmet kitchen, and yet again, incredible view, was another escape that myself and clients have always enjoyed. The manicured gardens and overall cleanliness of the entire facility, proved to all of us, that their expectations at CenterPointe Marina, are to provide an experience above the ordinary when staying in Door County. Well done to all who work there, your efforts are clearly noticed and I highly recommend the Cottages at CenterPointe Marina, as the only choice to retreat to in Door County.

We stayed 4 nights starting Oct 13, 2011. Easy to make the reservation. Received rental agreement and other info. easily via email. Not so easy to contact with questions/concerns after that. First time in Door County. The fall colors were absolutely stunning! We splurged for this property. Was encouraged by the very high mandatory cleaning fee (no other VR I looked at charged this much up front). Was sorely disappointed in the upkeep and cleanliness. Whoever is doing their cleaning is making a killing because they get the $ and do nothing to clean. Crumbs all over kitchen/main level floor. Microwave had grease/food in it that I wiped out before using. Fridge and freezer were not clean. Spill in freezer. Food crumbs and such in the fridge. Dirty serving plates on counter. A light over the toilet on the top floor wasn't working. There were webs and dead bugs all over in most corners, on the chairs on the balcony and patio, in the stair wells and in force over the sliding door on main floor. Detergent was slopped on the outside of the washing machine. I wiped it up. We found wet towels in the machine on day 2 of our stay (followed our noses to the ripe smell) and ran another cycle and dried them. Linens were stained. A crank window in the top floor bedroom didn't close all the way and the wind noise all night long was pretty annoying, and cold. One night the people in the building next door (they're about 10 feet apart) left their outside lights on until around 3am. That made our bedroom shine like noon day sun. Yes, I informed the manager of these things after we stayed because I couldn't find anyone in the office when I went there while we were on site. Apparently they were busy and short staffed. That's understandable. It's a nice location, the indoor pool was nice, the clubhouse was nice too. Went there a couple times for computer access. Lots of room in this house. We'd forgotten our air mattress but never fear! There were two in the house as well as the pump. That was nice. Was it filthy and uninhabitable? No, but for that price and for the very high mandatory cleaning fee, I expected it to be a LOT cleaner. Would we stay there again? No. We'd look up north near Fish Creek, Sister Bay, or Ephraim.
Owner response:The number one priority of CenterPointe Marina and the Marina Cottages is customer satisfaction. We encourage all of our customers to communicate any dissatisfactions with our staff so that we can continue our commitment to our customers satisfaction. While we do collect a cleaning fee, as is customary in this industry, the fee is designed to cover our direct costs of cleaning the cottage after each use. We do our best to insure that ever unit is thoroughly cleaned upon the arrival of all of our customers. We pride our services in the cleanliness of all of our facilities, including bathrooms, kitchens, linens, and every nook and crany. Because of this and in the case of the previous comments, we have waved the cleaning fee if a customers is not 100% satisfied with the cleaning services. We also use this to adapt our services and become better at servicing our customers. The CenterPointe Marina Cottages are located in a very unique and quintessential Door County Marine environment. The Cottages are walking distance to the historic Downtown Sturgeon Bay, where visitors can take in the charm of boutique shops, restrauants, and taverns. The Marina Cottages have sweeping harbor views, access to all of the Shipyard amenities, and access to numerous Door County activities. The Cottages location convenientlly offers guests access to travel the entire Door County Peninsula easily and hassle free. The CenterPointe Marina Staff sends best wishes and we hope that you will consider us again for your travels in the future. We also hope that our waiving the cleaning fee for your stay is a sufficient gesture on our part to continue our customer satisfaction goal.

We came on a last minute Thanksgiving trip and even though it was a holiday weekend we received great service. Fun, clean place with great views. Kids enjoyed the pool. We enjoyed walking into town - just a few blocks - and watching the ships go through the draw bridge. We will be back!

I spent a week at one of the cottages in mid-June. I live in an urban area and was looking for a place where I could get away from the noise and crowds but not feel isolated; the cottage was perfect! The pictures and descriptions on the site truly represent what you'll see when you arrive. The 1st flr is living/dining/kitchen/half bath/patio; 2nd is living/bedroom/full bath/ laundry/balcony. The entire third flr is a master suite with beautiful views and cross-ventilation (if you prefer fresh air rather than a/c). The people in the office were incredibly helpful and happily identified all the best restaurants (some with amazing bakeries), places to go, and things to see and do. The general location within Sturgeon Bay is terrific. It's just far enough (a few blocks) away from the shops and restaurants to be quiet and a bit removed, but not so far that you have to get in the car for every little thing. The waterway is a no wake zone, so the boats all go slowly puttering by (all the better to stare - some of them are truly amazing). The overall area offers everything from wine tours to fishing charters and many things in between (e.g., lighthouse tour on a fire boat, jet ski, private boat rentals, beautiful sunsets, etc.). The interior 2nd floor of the clubhouse is beautifully appointed and the external wraparound balcony is a great place to sit and relax. The outdoor fireplace was a nice place to congregate in the evenings - for people staying on boats and those in the cottages/lofts. Show up with a bag of marshmallows and/or a bottle of wine and you'll be instantly popular! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the cottage and I'm hoping to have an opportunity to return in the future.

We just got back from our stay at one of these cottages. It is the most amazing cottage we've ever stayed at ...it exceeded our expectations. The views from every room are breathtaking! The staff at the Center Pointe Marina where we checked in were so helpful and friendly. The pool was really nice and same with the hot tub. It would have been nice if the pool was open a little later...it was only open until 8pm, but the sun didn't start going down until about 9pm - so we could have enjoyed it longern but I'm not complaining - it was wonderful. The marina is amazing -- all the boats were so neat to see and the people that were on the boats just visiting the marina were so friendly. The grilling area was really nice...we ended up grilling 2 out of the 3 nights we were there. The fireplace outdoors was great....we roasted marshmallows - made smores. We went to a really nice Italian restaurant in town for dinner one of the nights -- it's on the map they give you when you check in. If you want to rent a boat -- we rented a Pontoon Boat for 4hrs and we picked it up just 1 bridge over(next to the bridge under construction). It was much closer than we expected. There was also a good place for breakfast off of 2nd Street in the Stone Harbor Resort and it over looked the water too. What you see in these pictures online are EXACTLY what the cottage looks like. It was so neat & clean when we checked in. The owner of this cottage is really great. He answered every question I had pretty quickly. When I asked about fishing, he gave me great tips and what people were catching & where(Green Bay side or Lake Michigan side), that was very helpful. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We are definitely going to come back again, we wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for everything!!!
