The cabin has a wood burning stove with a glass door so you can enjoy the ambiance of a crackling fire. It also has a gas furnace if you are not up to building a fire.

I understood the “no refunds” when I made the reservation more than 6 months in advance. Thankfully, when we had a medical emergency the day before our reserved date, they were willing to give us a rain check that we were able to use a few weeks later. The 6 cabins are located in a secluded pine grove. They are nicely spaced and not on top of each other and are real log cabins of newer construction. We were assigned Cabin #1. (This cabin has a wheelchair ramp at the back entrance.) Our first impressions were good: everything was clean and there was no odor (musty or otherwise) whatsoever. The kitchen appliances were clean and in good working order: a full size refrigerator, a gas stove, a small microwave, 2 coffee pots (drip & perk) and a toaster. There were some coffee supplies and hot chocolate. All of the linens looked a little faded, but were very clean and smelled fresh. The dishes and cookware were limited, but I had brought some of our own stuff just in case and we used both theirs and ours. Soap, paper towels and TP were supplied. Heat was supplied by a gas furnace that worked well. There was also a wood-burner that we didn’t use; it had a broken seal on the door. The bathroom was very clean with newer –looking fixtures. Another reviewer mentioned that the toilet was on the small side and we agree. The fiberglass shower stall was good-sized, though. This cabin had 2 queen beds – one on the first floor and one in the loft. The only other furnishings were the dining table and 6 chairs, plus one night table by the bed. We had brought a couple of camp chairs of our own that were a little more comfortable than the dining chairs for just sitting around. The front porch that goes across the front of the cabin is great for just sitting and enjoying the surroundings. There were two Adirondack chairs and a wood stump table. Cabin #1 is next to the dumpster, but it wasn’t a problem for us since there was only one other cabin occupied while we were there and the weather was cool. There are charcoal grills at each cabin plus a community fire ring in the center of the circle of cabins. Cut wood is provided at each cabin and by the fire ring. Alpine is a small town in a remote location, so there are limited dining options and not a whole lot more. Our Verizon cell service was a little spotty and only 3G. Deer Dancer Cabins is a great base from which to explore the forest. We had a great experience there and hope to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Spent the weekend up in Alpine this weekend, and reserved one of the cabins and enjoyed my stay as it was a good place to get away from everything. The cabins are nice, clean, and rustic, there is no internet, no phone, and maybe cell coverage if you hold your hand just right so there is no distraction or interruption to your git-away! They have a wood stove inside the cabin, small charcoal/wood grills at each cabin, a central fire ring and a propane Grill for you to use, each cabin has a nice front porch where you can listen to the elk bugle, and watch the squirrels play. The only complaints I can give is the following three: 1) Their access driveway that passes by the church needs to have the speed bumps knocked down as they are too tall for anything but high clearance vehicles and dragged the bottom of my car. Instead you should use the access off of the Country Road. 2) The toilets are kiddie sized, and if you are a large/tall person you will find them uncomfortable. 3) The pots and pans were well used and could use an update. Other than those minor complaints, I would (and will) recommend this place to family and friends and will stay myself next time I am in the area as it is the perfect place to relax and unwind between trips out to the river, lake, or just sight seeing in the White Mountains Area.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
