The apartment is in the fashionable Second Arrondissement in Paris, inside Paris’ old medieval wall boundary. The apartment is finished in a high fashion contemporary style with quality furnishings, home wares and floorboards throughout. It contains comforts and entertainment of home for the end of a busy tourist or business day.
You will be met and given the keys at the apartment by someone who will show you around the apartment and familiarize you with its amenities, and provide you with a welcome pack, including breakfast goods, to ease your arrival.
Many of Paris’ main attractions are accessible from here either by walking or a few stops by Metro (subway), including the Marais, the Beauborg (Pompidour Center), Notre Dame, the Louvre, the cafes of Montorgueil, and the Opera.The Metro stop Reamur / Sebastapol is moments away; this is four direct stops on the Metro (subway) from Gard du Nord (the main train station where the Eurostar arrives from London and the train arrives from Charles de Gaulle airport). This Metro stop allows you to go directly both north to the flea markets of Clignancourt or south to the Ile de la Cite and St Michel/ St Germain du Pres; alternately it’s possible to go a few metro stops directly east to Temple (Marais) or west to the Paris Opera Garnier.
Rue du Ponceau is a small street between the old Roman roads St Denis and Rue Palestro. It that dates at least from the 1500s, when the small pointed bridge existed that gave the street its name.
Today it houses small fashion makers, a few cafes and a kosher sushi restaurant. During the week passing children stop to talk with the old French women who practice the world’s oldest profession whilst clothiers’ assistant wheel racks of clothes past. On weekends many of the businesses are shut so the street is very quiet. Many of the component makers and studios for major French clothing fashion houses are in the immediate area, as are many independent clothing makers and boutiques.
It is easily possible to walk south from here to Notre Dame (straight down the ancient Roman road St Denis) or west to the Opera and the shopping of Galleries Lafayette. The immediate vicinity has a large Monoprix supermarket and fresh and prepared food and vegetable market within waling distance, as well as fashionable cafes and restaurants for those who in Paris to avoid cooking!
