Our family recently had the joy of staying in this log house for a pre-Christmas ski trip. We have spent many vacations in this particular area but have never rented a house... until now. It was awesome ! It was everything it was advertised to be and much more. The pictures on this webpage, although beautiful, don't do it enough justice. On previous trips, one of our favorite things to do was to eat out at the many great restaurants in the Granby/Winter Park/Grand Lake area. This trip changed that. We found ourselves preferring to eat our meals at the log house, in front of the picture window, overlooking the valley and the town of Granby. The view at night is just as spectacular. We found this home to be very clean and well-kept. All the beds came with their own electric blanket. The wood stove in the den will pretty much heat the whole house. Everything we needed for cooking meals was there, except the food, and that was only a mile away at the City Market. Overall, this was one of the best lodging experiences we've ever had.
Owner response:Thomas, It is gratifying to learn when our home so closely meets the needs/wants of our guests. We truly appreciate you spreading the word about your positive experience at the Log House Retreat!

Excellent location. Loved the privacy of the tall trees all around the house. Incredible views from U shaped deck. We all appreciated the ping-pong table in the spacious basement. Everything we needed was in the house. We've never seen an owner as clean and organized as Julie! Thanks a lot for letting us enjoy time from heaven in your house!
Owner response:You are welcome! Mmmmm....time from heaven....

This fabulous home is a captivating mountain retreat! Perfect in every way. Certainly a paradise found. One of the most impressive parts of this setting, is the ideal location. You are just a few minutes away from town, hiking, restaurants, horseback riding, Grand lake, and much, much more...........yet you feel like you are in the middle of a secluded mountain (quiet and serene) when you are relaxing in the cabin. Truly, your search has ended!!! We will CERTAINLY be back!!
Owner response:Ladies, those were our exact thoughts when we purchased the home so many years ago! Do come back - we're pleased the house worked so well for you!

We spent two nights at this property and thoughly enjoyed our stay. We had friends from Michigan staying with us for a wedding at the Y camp, and they also enjoyed the cabin, the area and the views. We had deer each morning to greet us as we got up. I would recommend this property to friends/family for this area. We found the cabin clean, and with adequate supplies. We loved the location. It was rural, but close enough to amenities in the area.

Well, I hate to write this because now the world will know about this listing and it will become more difficult to rent this wonderful house!! Immaculate, well stocked, comfortable, and the setting is just beautiful. The location is so very central to everything Grand County has to offer. Sitting on the wrap around porch watching sunsets, having morning coffee, evening wine, or simply soaking in Colorado is a little slice of heaven. It is a wonderful place for families or couples. The only thing we would change is to not have to leave. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home!!
Owner response:Trudy, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You captured the essence of the Log House Retreat!

We had a wonderful vacation. The location of the cabin was perfect. We came up for a wedding in Estes Park which isn't too far and then were also able to enjoy the Alpine Slides in Winter Park. We saw a doe and two fawns. They let Adam get close enough to take a picture!

We were on our way to Texas for our honeymoon when we checked the weather 106 degrees in San Antonio . So we changed our direction and headed to the Rockies ,rented this log home had a wonderful time. The weather was awesome, the log home had a awesome view of the valley and rockies. Very secluded and so quite. We saw Deer every day. Were already planning a return trip next year Julie was wonderful to work with on our last minute reservations.

Got this vacation as a birthday present from my grandparents. Didn't think it would be much fun. But the house had lots of room . The views were awesome. We rented 4 wheelers and went road tripen thru the trails in the mountains. Went hiking every day. The log house was awesome Want another trip to this mountain home for my next birthday

Thanks to the owners for renting out such a great house. It was incredibly nice, well maintained and clean, with tons of room. The ping pong table was a nice touch and having a garage was great for us with all of our bikes. There were also lots of games under the TV and a well equipped kitchen. I still can't believe how cool this place was. (One note: there is no internet....but there are places like the library nearby.) Grocery store, Granby town, Sol Vista ski/bike area are all within minutes of driving. We also got a chance to lounge by a nearby lake.
Owner response:Sondra, Thanks so much for your review! We appreciate your time and comments. Please come back to the Log House Retreat! Julie

Thanks a bunch for the great stay in your cabin. We all hit the slopes hard, went to the Sulphur Springs and relaxed in the evenings in your wonderful home. We hope to make a return trip. The view was amazing! Night skiing was great for kids. The Rain Drop Massage at Sulphur Springs - excellent.

We just loved the Log House Retreat and wished we'd booked for a week rather than four days. The location was perfect for us as it was only a short drive to Winter Park and the views across the valley were wonderful. We had two great powder days and one sunny day in perfect conditions which was great! Skiing in Winter Park is awesome and it only takes about 30 minutes to drive there from Sol Vista. Our tip is to park at Mary Jane rather than the main Winter Park area - it is quieter and you don't need to queue for long to get on the lifts. The house itself is simply stunning. The photos do not really show just how great the Great Room is and there is so much space. The property was in immaculate condition and is obviously beautifully cared for by its owners. The owners were more than helpful with all our queries. Our friends were thrilled when they arrived at the house after a long flight from England. We were so comfortable there we decided to eat in every night rather than going out to find a restaurant. The kitchen was so well stocked that it was a pleasure to cook. (The only thing that was missing was a kettle - but we Brits do like to drink a lot of tea and the kettle is always on at home!!) To come back after skiing and find deer in the garden was a joy - they seemed pretty tame. We decided it was by far the best house we've ever stayed in in America (and we'e stayed in lots) and would recommend it to any of our friends without hesitation. I imagine that it must be wonderful there in summer too. There is a supermarket not too far away but if you are looking for lots of nearby restaurants this may not be the place for you. However, we didn't want to go leave the property apart from when we went skiing. It is a real home from home.

Comments from stays in Nov. 2009, March and June 2010: We had the perfect Thanksgiving in your beautiful log cabin. Thank you for sharing! We loved the wood stove, the ping pong table, and the beautiful views. We are hoping to return soon! Another great visit at your gorgeous log home. We had a great time! We had our grandparents come with us and they live in Atlanta and aren't the "out-doorsey" type and they loved it!
