This former Priest's Retreat House is a large, rural country Villa located in the middle of the famed Barbara Wine Country. Located just outside the authentic Italian wine town of Castlenuova Calcea you can relax on the large lawn with views of the rolling hills covered in vineyards or read from a private balcony. Four rooms have incredible views, the master includes a jacuzzi bath and 15 foot long balcony.
These are world class views a 15 minute drive from the 5 star restaurant and spa at the Relais San Maurizio in Santo Stefano Belbo in case you want wine baths and grapeseed facials. The food in the region is first class and the wines are world famous with good reason. Tour around on easy 15 minute drives through breathtaking wine country and wine taste and dine through out the region. Wine tasting in Barolo castle is a unique experience, as is wine tasting in the immediate Barbera and Barbaresca Cantinas. Watch for the local Cantina Sociales in each town where the locals bring their wine for pressing and sale at a cost less than the price of water.
Hiking and biking, or swimming at local pools is a pleasure. 1 hour south is the Italian Riviera, for ocean swimming at Alassio (1 hour 30 minutes) or San Remo ( 1 hour 50 min.) Tour the best Egyptian Museum outside for Cairo in Torino, 1 hour. Ski where the Olympics were held 1.5 hour N. in Sestriere. Visit La Scala in Milan (1 hour) or Lago di Como (1.5 hr.) or Guarda land for kids(the original Disneyland) in Lago di Guarda (2 hrs.) |
