My family of five just recently returned from a holiday on the beautiful big island. We travel to Hawaii yearly and always stay in the Waikoloa area, but this was our first stay at Hali'i Kai. We decided to try something new and we are so glad we did. We arrived late but our condo welcomed us with the lights on and music playing. The unit is tastefully decorated in warm colours and a tropical design. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the condo is well stocked with spices, linens, soaps, cleaners, etc. My children LOVED the activity closet where they found tennis rackets, a basketball, boogie boards, games and much more! My husband and I loved the beach chairs and coolers! The owners have thought of everything: movies, books and even night lights for the little ones. We spent many hours by the pool. The large pool area truly sets Hali'i Kai apart from all the other resorts in Waikoloa. The view is absolutely spectacular! Ocean front sunsets spent by the pool restaurant and bar are special. The menu offers something for everyone and the food was great. We really liked the combination of condo living and pool side food and drinks that can be signed to your unit. The property inside and out is meticulously kept. The landscaping is beautiful: lush and colourful. Everything is close by: golf, beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. Finally, the owner is an absolute pleasure to deal with. He is honest and trustworthy. He happily and promptly answered all of my questions. I would (and have) recommend this property to all my friends and family. We can't wait to return!

ust like being home if not better. Everything you need to enjoy the Island and the rest while at the condo complex. The area is quiet unless you think birds are noisy and the whale watching at the pool is fantastic. Owners very professional and easy to work with. Have nothing I can say to put a bad spin on the whole experience.

My Grandson loved the use of your Boogie boards at Hapuna Beach. I have already recommended your place to two of my freinds. This unit was perfect. Midway through the property, and can still see the ocean. Unit was clean, stocked and comfortable. Bar-b-que was a bonus. Owner emailed us the day after we arrived to ask if everything was okay and whether we needed anything. This was our second stay at Hali'i Kai and we will definately stay here again in the same unit. All the comforts of home. Biggest decision in a day was what to make for dinner in our fabulous kitchen and whether to go to the beach or the pool. That's a vacation! We rave about this property to our friends and relatives and recommend it to anyone reading these reviews.

I booked this beautiful unit for my parents and their friends. I went to big island with them to check them in so i had a chance to view this place. It was a beautiful and quiet unit with a very nice decor inside. I am very picky and i did alot of research for my parents and this worked out great. It usually looks better in picture than actually place but this place proved me wrong. I highly recommend to everybody. I also had a great experience booking this unit thru the owner. He was very kind yet professional and fast.I'll def stay this unit again in near future. Mahalo, Gordon!

The condo is very nice, in top shape, and fully equipped. The patio has a great view. Hali’i Kai is a wonderful development with an unbelievably nice pool area. Gordon is an extremely responsive owner who tries to accommodate renters’ requests. When an item in the condo needed a repair during our stay, Gordon had a repairman show up within a couple of hours of us reporting the problem to him. Overall, a great place to rent with a very caring owner. Highly recommended!

We made a last minute reservation and couldn't have been happier. It was an excellent place to celebrate a 50th birthday and a 25th and 30th wedding anniversary. We have rented many condo's in Hawaii and this was by far the best. Gordon provided superior customer service and it was a pleasure to do business with him. The condo was perfect for 2 couples. It was spacious, nicely decorated and had everything one could possibly need-it was also very well maintained and exceptionally clean. We all tried to think of anything missing or anything that we would change and came up with...nothing!! It was really perfect in everyway. We enjoyed the sunset and ocean views from the lanai, as well as, the BBQ grill. This second floor unit was very quiet with absolutely no traffic noise. The staff we encountered were all friendly and pleasant. The pool area (about a 4-5 minute walk) was great-loved the lily pads. We ate at the pool-side cafe twice and would recommend it. We spent our next week on Maui wishing we were back at Hali'i Kai!!

Exceeded Expectations

Nice place. As nice as or nicer than the pictures and description make it appear. Great location. Beautifully furnished. 9-foot ceilings, nice 4-inch baseboard moldings, mahogany (I think) cabinets, lots of natural surfaces like tile and granite. Walking distance (not right next door, but maybe five mins) to beach club/pool. Arguably the nicest complex in Waikoloa. You can literally watch whales while you swim at the pool or work out in the fitness center. Also, unit does have a pullout coach that was very comfortable. Very modern and high-end look and feel -- this is NOT a mid-70s or early-80s vintage high rise unit with crummy furniture or cheap finishing touches. It is only a couple of years old, and has everything you would expect in a "luxury" unit. Nice touches include beach towels, a full collection of spices and nice cookware, a coffee grinder, boogie boards, a weber gas grill on the veranda, and other recreational equip like tennis racquets and beach toys. Gordon was great to deal with. Called and talked to me for probably an hour about the area, things to do, etc. I think the price is great for this unit given the amazing view. You can find other stuff for less, but not with this view and this level of luxury. The only minor drawbacks I can think of... 1) Be aware that you can't just walk to the beach -- you really need to drive there. You can walk to the COAST, but it is too rocky for swimming near the condo complex. You can also walk to the Hilton and use that beach -- probably a 15-minute walk along a public trail. 2) The fitness center is beautiful, and we really did watch whales every day, but it isn't a full gym. Nice Life Fitness cardio equipment and flat screen TVs, but no free weights or machines. One combination machine that was barely adequate. Nice, well-maintained equip, just not a lot of it. We are seasoned Hawaii travelers (over 20 trips the past 15 years) and we looked around a lot before we committed to this unit, and we looked around a lot more once we were there, thinking ahead to our next trip, and Gordon's condo would be our first choice again.

More than we could have hoped for...

January 2010 Gordon and Beth are wonderful hosts and you can be sure that your experience will only be enhanced by the care and attention to detail they take in ensuring that you have everything you need during your stay. There are no words to describe how lovely the accommodation and amenities are...that pool is by far the best we have ever had the luxury of lounging around and those pool pods – very cool! We spent many a wonderful evening out on the lanai using the Weber BBQ – my husband has to now get a light on his like the one at 6D Hali’i Kai! We normally travel to Maui which we enjoy but we were thrilled with our adventures on the Big Island. We were fortunate enough to swim with spinner dolphins by the City of Refuge ( a truly incomparable experience) and to hike down to one of the most spectacular black sand beaches in the Pululu Valley at the North end of the island (be sure to stop at the Bamboo restaurant in Hawi on the way back). Watching the last sunset of 2009 down at the Beach Club sipping on one of those extremely effective Mai Tai’s was a memory the whole family will remember. Boogie boarding at Hapuna was a blast and we have left an additional boogie board at the condo – have fun with it. We sure look forward to riding it again soon. At the end of each day we returned to our very own paradise at the Hali'i Kai. What a great way to start a new decade...Aloha!

We spent a week in unit 6D in November. This is a very nice condo . A very well equipped corner unit with nice golf course and ocean views. The owner has made an effort to provide all you need to have a great vacation . We plan to do it again soon.

What a wonderful, peaceful place for a vacation. The accomodations were superb, especially the fully equipped kitchen. The pool area is fantastic. We felt like it was our own private club. If you like to work-out, I can't imagine a better view exists from the treadmill. Gordon and Beth were very thorough, which made our travel simple. I would wholeheartedly give a thumbs up to anyone looking to vacation in Kona!

HaliKai and the condo 6D are really what you want to enjoy a wonderful stay on Big Island. The condo is really well equipped and just beautiful with a nice view over the golf course and the ocean. The owner is a very nice person and extremly supportive with respect to all questions you could have in advance or during your stay. From the pool area we could watch during our stay every day whales playing in the ocean and I have never experienced a workout in a gym with watching whales. The pool area and the ocean club are both fantastic (in particular our kids, age 2 & 5). If we ever visit Big Island again, we will certainly try to stay in this perfect condo at HaliKai.

This condo was a terrific find on a number of levels. First, for those of you who may be hesitant to rent direct from the owner, those fears can be put to rest here. We vacationed for the month of February at this condo and Gord provided us exceptional customer service. He was easily accessible and a couple of requests we had were addressed the very same day. From emailing us a link to up to date weather forecasts during our stay to returning our deposit within the first week we got back, his thoughtfulness and professionalism were appreciated. The condo and complex was excellent quality, the view off the lani beautiful and the people working at the complex terrific. Thanks Gord and Beth for contributing to what was a very special vacation for us. We shall return.

Wonderful Christmas at Halii Kai

With this our second time to the Big Island at Christmas, this time was much more special because of the wonderful accommodations at Halii Kai. First, the location is in one of the most beautiful areas of the big island. This gated condominium complex is located in Waikoloa just off of Waikoloa Beach Drive. The area has lush landscaping with great shopping and restaurants within just a short drive. We enjoyed Roy's at the King's Shops. The gated complex is very beautiful and quiet. Unit 6D on the second floor has a sweeping view of the ocean and golf course. We enjoyed the lanai every day. The inside of the unit is very clean and has every amenity one could want. The unit is also decorated in beautiful Hawaiian decor and Tommy Bahama furniture. Beth and Gordon are wonderful people to work with and are very thoughtful in making sure your stay is a pleasant one. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking to visit the Big Island. The style and class of this condominium is a cut above the rest!

We have nothing but good things to say about our experience at Halii Kai. The condo was absolutely beautiful. It is tastefully decorated and well appointed, yet more than comfortable. The unit was exceptionally clean and well stocked with high quality kitchenware, appliances and even a few staple items. It had comfortable beds, nice lanai furniture and a high quality TV/DVD system (with a stash of good movies) to boot! Its an easy walk to the pool and hot tub, which were great. The pool water temperature was perfect for our two young children (6 yrs and 6 months), while the view from that area was outstanding. Even the view from the lanai at the unit was quite good, offering a good slice of ocean for pretty sunsets. Tennis and basketball courts were right across the street, which makes for a nice change of pace. The unit was quiet, which is so important to us for a relaxing vacation. Our host was great to work with and we sincerely hope to get the opportunity to stay in this unit again someday. Enjoy!

I've been to every island and I've stayed in many vacation rentals. This is one of the nicest. A top-self kitchen, bathroom and entertainment system are just a few of the charms of this unit. The views from the lania are great. The complex is new and very quiet. The complex is gated and the traffic noise is nil. The pool area is spectacular. What a great time!

As we pulled up to the condo on our first night of our honeymoon all we could do was comment on how nice the complex was with a great pool. Once we entered the comment we were so excited to see how clean & nicely decorated everything was! We also were so impressed with how much was provided, from DVD's to beach chairs and an umbrella! It made our honeymoon have a wonderful "home" feel that we'll never forget and would definitely go back for anniversaries or trips w/ friends since it's roomy enough for two couples! The surrounding areas also had everything we needed like the new Queens Market grocery store, shops, nice restaurants and local beaches, we never left that corner of the island and we were perfectly fine with it! Definitely suggest the Marriott's luau, the Sunset dinner cruise and snorkeling at Puaku beach. Great place and even better memories.

No need to look around, this place has it all

This summer, we went on a spur of the moment trip to Hawaii (yes, in 2 weeks we had to research & reserve everything) I had narrowed down my choices on the Big Island to the Hali'i Kai and 2 other resort areas. What sealed the deal for me was the pool overlooking the ocean, and the ocean view from the condo. This is an awesome condo. It doesn't feel like a rental, it feels like your second home. Everything you need is there, right down to the flashlights if you are going to drive and see Kilauea erupting (we did, and it was magical at dusk) And no expense was spared in furnishing, linens, and decorations. If you have kids, there are tons of videos. It is kid-friendly without sacrificing luxury. The resort itself is spectacular. We were there in July, and yet everytime we went to the pool, hardly anyone was there. The first night we had the private pool-side restaurant to ourselves. Talk about being pampered. And the pool is gorgeous. So relaxing sitting there staring at the ocean. And the jacuzzi, with it's sandy bottom, was a dream. But the best part of this experience was the owners themselves. Knowing we were under pressure to make a fast decision, Gordon was very patient with us. We finally chose his place, but since we were already on Oahu, we had not yet paid him the deposit. He had guests staying there who wanted to extend their stay for longer than what we were renting it for, so he called to make sure we were still set on his place. He could have easily taken the extra money and told us sorry, we took too long to pay the deposit. But he didn't. He honored his verbal agreement and gave us time to get him the money. I will always be grateful because staying at the Hali'i Kai was one of the highlights of our trip. It was nice waking up and looking out the master bdrm window to see the green golf course on the black lava, with the deep blue of the ocean in the background. Sitting on the lanai, eating and enjoying the view as well. If you want a break from the calm and peace of the Hali'i Kai, then go next door to the Hilton for a change. We had dinner there one night, and rode the boats and monorails around. That place is massive. It was fun to visit, but we were glad we weren't staying there. Who wants to be crammed into a room, when you can have a 2 bdrm condo for roughly the same price? We would go back in a second. We had a great time.

This condo is everything you could want from a vacation rental on the Big Island and more! The unit itself is beautifully decorated and has beeautiful views of both the ocean and the golf course. We watched the nightly sunsets from the lanai. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need to cook with all new kitchen items. With a family of four, the unit was spacious and luxurious. From the beach towels, chairs and coolers to the ample supply of great DVD's that could be watched on the large flat screen t.v., the condo has all that you need for an amazing vacation. The pool area at Hali Kai was truely fantastic! The pool area itself is wonderful and the setting just gorgeous. My two children, 5 and 8, had a ball playing in the pool all day. Wow, what a wonderful place Hali Kai, Unit 6D is. We will be sure to return! Thanks for sharing your paridise with us!

Our stay at Hali'i Kai was everything we expected and more! The two bedroom condo was very comfortable and tastefully decorated in tropical island motif. The owner's posted description and photos were very accurate, but could never capture all the details, comfort and extra amenities without personally staying in the condo. We loved the view from the lanai and the awesome sunsets over the ocean. We also enjoyed the beautiful landscape design and manicured Beach Club Pool and Spa area with the amenities of a large gas BBQ, the convenience of the Club Bar and Grill with excellent service plus the magnificent view of the ocean. The condo was well equipped from the items in each bathroom and kitchen to the games, movies and books that were provided. Just like being at home! If we ever return to the Big Island we would without a doubt stay at the Hali'i Kai in this condo. A first class experience!

We had a great and wonderful trip. The condo is beautiful and the grounds and pool are really nice. We liked the fact that the pool was tastefully done, right over the water and with food service on-site (very average Hawaiian fare with no sandy beach though). And we had a very gracious host who seemed to think of every detail to make our stay enjoyable. We really appreciated that. The only suggestions I might have are a grill closer to the condo or even on the lanai as well as more weights in the gym, which was beautiful over the water but very limited). Our condo was a walk to the pool ( less than 10 min).
