Explore Florence's charming Oltarno neighborhood. This area abounds with excellent restaurants, cafes and small artisan workrooms. Piazza di Santo Spirito is also nearby which offers many good restaurants and several fresh produce stalls in the mornings.
The apartment is spotlessly clean and well maintained and your warm welcome includes gift a basket that awaits you with a bottle of wine, a few snacks, fruit and provisions to prepare a light pasta dinner to get you through the first evening. This is the type of thought and care that goes into making guests feel comfortable at the Olivia apartment.
Located off of Via di Santo Spirito the Olivia apartment is in a terrific location in the historic center on the Oltrarno side of the river. So convenient to the sites, the highlights of Florence are all within walking distance.
The apartment is in a 15th century apartment building on a narrow street lined with other historic apartment buildings, artisan workshops, restaurants, small shops.
The apartment is on the 4th floor (5th North American designation) with no elevator. A great way to balance the wonderful food and wine of Florence.
This is a two-level apartment with the living room, kitchen and one bathroom below and the bedroom and a second full bathroom upstairs. The open kitchen which is just through the front door is fully equipped. An handsome expandable antique dining table has seating for four. Tasteful antiques, excellent maintenance and thoughtful touches make this a comfortable, homey apartment. The location is terrific.
The living room is quite spacious with attractive original wood beams on the high ceiling. Two large living room windows admit plenty of light, a nice feature of the apartment because it is high up in the building. The sofa is comfortable and opens to sofa bed that can accommodate two people. An ottoman in the living room converts to a single bed as well.
Next to the charming antique writing desk is the downstairs bathroom. The bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, are nice in the apartment with attractive tiles and fully enclosed showers. The fact that there are two bathrooms makes the living room sofa bed arrangement particularly convenient for guests. The living room TV has satellite so receives some English language news channels.
The bedroom is on the second level, reached by 14 steps up. It is a cozy, pleasant space with skylight, good storage space behind an attractive curtain under the eaves. There are good reading lamps on the night stands on either side of the bed. The bed can be made up as one large bed or two singles. Off the bedroom is a full bathroom with enclosed shower and a separate laundry room.

Last Friday, we finished our two-week stay in Olivia. It was wonderful, just as described. Roomy, sunny, clean and full of Angela's attention to detail. We loved staying in the Oltarno on the quiet street. Maryjane loved Angela's pretty, embroidered sheets. Angela was a gracious, attentive host. We think the restaurants are better over on Via della Spada (Marione, La Spada), 5 minute walk away. But now I prefer staying on Via di Santo Spirito (quieter, less crowded but still very close to everything. As always, your resources were a blessing to our travel.Did you find this review helpful? The Olivia apartment was perfect for our stay in Florence. Unlike most other visitors, we were able to stay for almost 3 months! Olivia became like home for us and was a great base while we took cooking classes at the local In Tavola cooking school, discovered Florence, and also visited many other wonderful cities in Italy. The location was perfect and very easy to find our way back from wherever our ventures took us. It was close to many great restaurants and shops, our cooking school, markets and even the train station was just a short walk. There were quite a few stairs to get up to the apartment, but with all of the walking we did, they became easier and easier. Angela, the owner, and her husband couldn't have been nicer and were very helpful on arrival and all throughout our stay. All we had to do was email a question or concern and she was on it. Having 2 bathrooms was wonderful and also a washer/dryer, although it didn't live up to the models we have here in the states, it served us well. Most other rentals only had washers. The best thing about Olivia though is the location in the Oltrarno district of Florence. We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to future visitors.Did you find this review helpful? Olivia is minutes away from Florence's major sites, but in a much quieter and less touristy neighborhood. After a day navigating in the crowded tourist areas, it was wonderful to come back to the relative serenity of Olivia. The apartment is comfortable (the second bathroom is a plus!) and clean and light-filled. The only downside is the stairs. We knew we were going to be climbing stairs, but I must warn anyone who has the least concern about being able to manage stairs to consider carefully before selecting Olivia. They are many and steep. We were there a week, and were always puffing and panting by the time we made it to the top floor. (We are in our late 60s.) That said, being on the top floor of the building makes the apartment very light and bright and you have a nice birdseye view of the street.Did you find this review helpful? The Olivia apartment is a great choice as a base in Florence. It is cozy and charming. The location on Via di Santo Spirito is very convenient near many excellent cafes, restaurants, and food shops. I was glad we were on the quieter Oltrano side of the river which I thought was much nicer, more local, and a lot more peaceful than the other side which is more crowded and touristy. This was an ideal location.??The apartment itself is nicely furnished, cozy, and comfortable. The service at check in was excellent. It was our anniversary and we were given extra treats including beautiful flowers and a bottle of wine. I appreciated the welcome basket of coffee, jams, and crackers. This is a very nice touch to the apartment and makes guests feel welcome right away. It is a beautiful historic building. ??In the area, I especially liked the Piazza della Passera and Piazza Santo Spirito. There are many nice restaurants just within a few minutes walk from the apartment. Great location! ??While in Florence, I recommend taking a wine tasting class at the Tuscan Wine School just near the Olivia apartment, dining at 4 Leoni at the Piazza della Passera also near the apartment, and taking a day trip in a vintage Fiat 500 with the 500 Touring Club. All were great experiences.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
