Town: Ireland, Dingle Peninsula, Dunquin
The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Dingle Peninsula and surrounding areas. Nearby villages and towns include Ballyferriter (3miles), Ventry (7 miles) and Dingle (10 miles). Dunquin has been described as the Land of Extremes; extreme isolation at Europe’s periphery, extreme beauty of land, water and sky, extreme fluency in their native tongue, and extreme sadness when you have to leave!
The Blasket islands provides some of the most spectacular scenery to be found anywhere in the world. In 1953, as a result of emigration, the Great Blasket was finally abandoned and its 22 remaining inhabitants transferred to the mainland. However, from April to October every year both visitors and locals venture back to the Great Blasket for either a day trip or a few days camping. Ferries leave from Dunquin Pier (a magnificent feet of architecture in itself) every half hour.
