Home was built in 2004 and is 2200 square feet, has a cozy fireplace and hot tub (what else do you need). The upper story has seven large picture windows that look out onto the pacific ocean. Whales are often seen as well as the various fishing/crabbing boats and dorys. The walk on the semi private path to beach and dunes is less than ten minutes.

One of the greatest benefits of the home is that you will have unobstructed views of the ocean as the sun sets. Yes, the summer,spring and fall sun sinks directly into the ocean out your windows. Also, another benefit is that home is NOT in a Tsunami zone (150' above the sea).

Home is perfect for coast bike riders, horse enthusiasts, fishermen and recreational boaters alike, para-sailors, off-road enthusiasts.

Pacific City is home to one of the largest bird watching areas in Oregon. House is equipped with FREE WI-FI...YEA.

  • This house was a fantastic weekend getaway. Herb and Beverly were so accomodating and have provided an exceptional house. The views, privacy and tasteful decor made it a perfect experience. The hike to the beach definately requires some "athletisicm." At sunset we were graced with three deer moving across the bluff between the house and the ocean. Its a magical place. I look forward to returning soon!

  • We just returned from our wonderful 3 day weekend at this lovely piece of paradise. The pictures and comments were what made our decision to stay here. As soon we arrived and saw the view and home we knew we had made a great choice. The view is amazing and the beach access was perfect for our 3 small children. Our 6 year old asked us "can we come back and stay again". Our only response was a definite YES! On our last evening there we were walking back to the house (after watching an amazing sunset) and on the trail were 3 deer. What a wonderful place. We are already checking our calendar to see when we can return, only this time it's going to be longer than 3 days!

  • My husband and I stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend. We hesitated to post our review in fear that this property will be booked the next time we want to stay in Pacific City. The house itself was very comfortable, and offered privacy even out on the deck. We have stayed right on the beach before, but we now prefer this higher perch where we could easily get down to the beach or relax in our luxurious "tree house." This was a truly wonderful vacation!

  • As return guests, we found the property even more gorgeous in winter than summer. Whether it rains or "suns," the Sandcastle is a haven unlike any other. Perfect for dogs as well--given the fenced-in property, we don't have to leash them every time they need to take a potty break. (Don't forget to clean up!) Wonderful owners, too! We've been up and down the coast, and this is our very favorite place. Enjoy!

  • We only had one day here, wish it were more. And, even though it was cloudy, the view was incredible. For me, the best part was sitting by the window with a glass of wine, reading a book and watching the waves. The house itself is lovely, well-appointed, comfortable, a retreat. Thank you, again.

  • We stayed here for 12 days and had a wonderful, peaceful glorious time. Herb and Beverly left explanations for everything in the house (washer, dryer, televisions) We only heard from them when we called; so it was like being in our own home. What a beautiful home it is, and the view is to die for. We saw whales and a bear, walked to the dune and walked the beach. It's a great place to take day trips from also. We had a great time and would love to do it again at any time.

  • For over 20 years my best friend and I have left husbands, family and pets at home to travel together, usually to the west coast, for our annual summer pact trip. In July we stayed at this beautiful home overlooking the ocean where we enjoyed spectacular sights including watching a mother and baby whale for almost an hour and were visited by a doe and twin fawns. This home was beyond our expectations, very clean with a relaxing atmosphere and the hot tub was awesome! Many hours were spent on the deck, our favorite spot to be inspired by the view. Luckily we were in town for the annual Dory Boat Parade where the locals go all out to decorate historic fishing boats still in use today. We definitely look forward to a return trip.   • The Sandcastle is truly an exceptional property that takes advantage of the great views. There are only 2 rooms in the entire house where the ocean is not visible - 1/2 bath and laundry. We regularly saw whales. The wooded area to the north and south of the property have plenty of birds. The bedrooms on the "garden" level have french doors that lead out to a very pleasing garden and the hot tub. This level is quite unique in that there is also a view of the ocean. The trail leading through the "valley" and up the sand dune is great. There is easy access over Cape Kiwanda for a beer at the Pub or a coffee at the Coffee shop. Our week here was incredibly relaxing - we did not want to leave! Karl and Ada, the dogs, also had a wonderful time!

  • My husband and I spent a glorious week at this beautiful retreat. We were able to relax, rest and play. The views were incredible and the beach was awesome. We enjoyed some wildlife too. MY husband even saw a small coastal bear in the distance! The home is very welcoming and comfortable. We instantly felt at home. We were sad to leave but plan to come back!

  • Having stayed in vacation rentals all over Oregon, this is by far the best! The views, the house itself (both inside and outdoor jacuzzis with uninterrupted views of the ocean), the courteous owners. With fenced-in outdoor areas, it's perfect for pups as well. Often, rentals have many signs posted throughout the home: "don't do this," "don't do that," a frequent reminder that as a renter, you're intruding. THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE. For as long as you stay, you're made to feel like a guest rather than an unwanted trespasser. Summation: The Sandcastle is a sheer paradise!
