Why the Owner Chose Waimanalo Beach
Took a few years off to sail across the Pacific Ocean on a 29' sailboat. Saw beaches all along the way, from San Diego/Mexico, through Polynesia to the Great Barrier Reef. So many beautiful beaches, but I choose to live here because, well, honestly, the landscape takes my breath away each and every day. And, living in Hawaii, I can get Cherry Garcia just up the street. Can't beat that.
The Unique Benefits at this Beachside Studio
Being so close to one of the most pristine beaches in the world. My goal is to provide a special place, one that they can take refuge from the world, where they can rest their spirit.
Just 10 minutes away and you're at Hanauma Bay. People say it's like snorkling in a bowl full of tropical fish. You're poised to get there early (they open at 6am) and beat the crowds! It is truly a m
Okay, so you're not sleeping there, but lots of folks enjoy just spending the day there, seeing what all the fuss is about, then happy to return "home" to Waimanalo.
Yes, Lanikai Beach was named the #1 Beach in America by the travel magazine Cond Nast Traveler. WOW. Guess what that did to Lanikai? Crowds and cars. Let's hope they never come to sleepy Waimanalo.
This memorial will bring tears to your eyes out of respect to those who gave their lives in service to our country. A definite "must visit".
Along this stretch of road have sprung up several "Shrimp Trucks" that serve up a mighty fine plate of garlicky shrimp! Make sure you stop here on the way to the North Shore!
Home of "Bay Watch", Sunset Beach is regarded by many connoisseurs as the best surfing spot of all, with the most consistent high-quality waves. A surfing community has grown up here, complete with a
The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor is "ground zero" where World War II began for the United States.
Yup! The very place that the opening to Gilligan's Island was shot. Now home to the University of Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology.
Owner's Map of Waimanalo Beach
As a kid, I dreamed about adventure, so if I wasn't hiking to, and camping in, places I should not have been, I was riding my bike to someplace too far from home. As an adult, I've continued the tradition of taking off to far away places as often as I can (photo: Ring of Brogar, Scotland).

Halenalo was absolutely beautiful place to stay. There was a private-beach in a minute of walking. The beach was more than I could describe. If you like quiet, untouched, beautiful and friendly beach, it's for you. My room was very clean, well designed and useful with a efficient kitchen. The bed was comfortable and my 74 year old mother enjoyed taking a bath every morning. Wifi was available with no sweat. Eating places was near there and it's not too far from the Honolulu airport or anything. The landlord was very very friendly and she was there whenever I needed her. During our whole stay I felt peaceful. The garden in the backyard was lovely to read to sleep in. The most amazing thing was the breeze. When we were in Waikiki hotel, we had to ran the air conditioning but you don't need it here. I recommend anybody who wants to experience true Hawaii - it's here. Thanks again for the paradise experience! Peace, Kuniko Yamamoto

Hale Nalo is a heavenly anti-Waikiki! If you're a solo or couple looking for a quiet, peaceful, lush, comfortable, safe lodging on Oahu, this is a marvelous place at a great price. Stylish, modern, elegantly spare, and comfortable, it's two houses from a secluded stretch of Waimanalo Beach. Seriously, if you spot more than two people on this beach, consider it "rush hour." My visit fell during the hottest dog-days of summer, and the silent ceiling fan and breezes from the nearby ocean kept me cool enough. You awaken each day to a tropical bird jam-session and fall asleep each night to the sounds of rolling waves and palm fronds stirred by the breeze. Sublime. A lounge area outside the studios has convenient guidebooks and maps, and your hostess, Herlinda, is gracious, accommodating, and eager to acquaint visitors with the best of island secrets. You're 10 minutes away from great food and shopping in Kailua, 10 minutes away from Hanauma Bay, and 15 minutes away from Hawaii Kai shopping. (Review posted on HomeAway dot com 8/09)

Our room was incredibly clean and well-maintained very well. The kitchen had everything we could have needed- even a coffee bean grinder! Waimanalo bay is very very close and so incredibly beautiful. We really couldn't have asked for more. I wish we could have stayed longer. (Review posted on HomeAway dot com 10/09)

This is a great place for couples who like to have the luxury to stroll out and walk the totally lonely Waimanalo beach on their own or drive 20 minutes to any posh place in Waikiki or Honolulu to have dinner, grab a cocktail or do some shopping. Perfect spot to explore Oahu. Neighboring Kailua is nice for a coffe latte to go and you are very close to such beautiful places like Makapu'u, Sandy Beach and Diamond Head. The place is small but clean. Very friendly. They let you wash your stuff and help you out with snorkeling gear, beach mats, boogie boards and beach towels. Walk out your room into the nice garden and pick some fruits for breakfast. Keep the doors closed to keep the ants and bugs out but that's valid for any place out there in the tropics. The bed might be a little soft for some people but the place is cosy, clean and nice. Mahalo

"Friendly, helpful host, good amenities, and awesome beach!" The room was clean, roomy and comfortable with a very handy kitchenette and laundry room with soap. The host was very accomodating and friendly. She provided big beach towels, beach matts, and boogie boards, so we could make the most of the waves. The location was in a nice neighborhood two houses down from a beautiful and nearly deserted beach, which had good waves for boogie boarding on most days. It was a 15 minute drive to Kailua, which has many nice shops and restaurants, including a good healthfood store. (Review posted on TripAdvisor)

A perfect secluded getaway, right on the beach! We absolutely loved staying here! Herlinda, the property owner, was very helpful with our questions both during the booking process and during our stay. We stayed in a garden suite, which was cozy and comfortable. The beach is less than one minute's walk from the property, and it is both beautiful and secluded. In addition, there are many scenic points and hiking trails within a half hour drive. My husband and I spent 10 nights at Hale Nalo in August 2009, and plan to return for our next trip to Oahu. We were looing for a place to unwind, relax and rejuvinate from our busy lives without the crowds, noise and hustle and bustle of Honolulu. Hale Nalo offered everything we were hoping for, a quiet tranquil location within walking distance of one of the most beautiful, uncrowded beaches in Hawaii. All of Oahu is easily accessible, with easy access to freeways and the town of Kailua only minutes away. Our room was immaculate, the gardens beautiful, and Herlinda is the perfect hostess. We stayed in one of the two studios which are appointed with everything needed - kitchenette, full bathroom, washer/dryer access, free wireless internet and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. On our next trip we hope to stay in the Zen Treehouse - check out the pictures on the Hale Nalo web site. If yor seeking a tranquil stay, unspoiled beautiful beaches, convenient access to anywhere on the island and a warm welcome from a wonderful hostess Hale Nalo offers all of these.
