Our condo is in the recently completed West Tower of the Ixchel Beach Hotel. The property is a full service hotel with each condo individually owned and decorated. This unit is on the 4th floor (one back from ocean front)overlooking the pool, the beach lined with palm trees, and the turquoise ocean. The beach is reef protected and has a shallow shoreline that stretches the entire length of Playa Norte (North Beach). It's a wonderful beach for kids to play on. They can walk quite a ways out with water only coming to their knees!!

Rent this condo and sit on your private balcony overlooking the ocean while drinking your morning coffee. During the hottest part of the day, rest on the shaded balcony on your own chaise. In the evening, sip on a Margarita made in your kitchen and served in your Margarita glasses. Everything you need is in your kitchen or a short walk from the hotel.

The fully equipped kitchen has granite counter tops, a built-in stainless steel microwave, a smooth counter top stove, a full size refrigerator, coffee-maker, bottled water dispenser, toaster and assorted utensils, pots, pans, and plastic storage containers for leftovers.

Isla is a 15-minute ferry ride from Cancun. The people on Isla are wonderful--Mexicans, Mayans, Europeans, Canadians, Americans (North and South)... There are a variety of restaurants--local, French, Mediterranean, Italian... Eat lobster at beach side restaurants with your feet in the sand. Jax, a sports bar with their famous fish and chips, burgers, and some say the best guacamole on the island; and the Sunset Grill, with lobster quesadillas, are just a short walk from the hotel. Both offer spectacular views of the sunsets. And, don't miss "Baseball Tacos," truly a local treat. Just ask the concierge for directions.

Isla is a wonderful and safe place to visit and explore. Get out and meet the people. Rent a golf cart and go exploring from North Beach to the Sculpture Park on the southern tip, just five miles away. Ask us about 10 percent discount on cart rental.

Condo includes kitchen and dining room, and a living room with fold-out sofa. The master bedroom has a king size bed with beautiful fully tiled bathroom with large counter area with lighted, magnified makeup mirror. There is a large closet which includes a safe. There is a balcony running the length of the master bedroom and living room. Open the glass doors that make up the entire wall of the master bedroom and living room and feel the ocean breeze throughout the suite.

The second bedroom has two full size beds with an ocean view from the window. It also has a large closet with safe. This bedroom includes a fully tiled bathroom with separate vanity area. Other room amenities include a microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, two chairs, and a TV/DVD/Radio/CD/Stereo.

All rooms are individually climate controlled with central air and heat. The bathrooms are tiled with a walk-in shower with glass doors and a seating ledge. There are hair-dryers in both bathrooms and Aqua bath supplies. Beach towels are provided. Renters have use of the pool, exercise room and laundry facilities. Chairs and umbrellas are set up and ready for you on the beach each morning. Just take your beach towel with you to the beach and claim your favorite location.

The pool also has lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as a tanning ledge where you can place your lounge in about eight inches of cool water. There is a poolside restaurant, ComoNo, available for breakfast and lunch with poolside and beach service. Lee and Jen, a young couple, run this service. They own and operate the wonderful Mediterranean restaurant on Hidalgo, ComoNo's. They also will provide room service.

  • WiFi (Wireless Internet): WiFi is available and appears to be working, but it is new as of February 2008. You can bring a wireless LAN and hook it up to the cable internet. I do and it works great.

  • Kim, we just returned from our trip and wanted to tell you how much we really enjoyed our stay in the condo. In all of our trips there, I think this was the best one. We are just sorry that we could only stay this time for four days. I would have much rather stayed here for eight days than in Playa at The Royal for the first four. You have a great place and the staff there couldn't be better. We especially enjoyed Daniel with his big smile, always helpful. The CoMoNo guys were great too. We are really looking forward to our next visit. Thanks so much for everything!

  • On our recent vacation to Isla Mujeres, my husband and I rented unit 2408 in the West Tower of Ixchel Beach Hotel. This 4th floor unit, one back from oceanfront, had a massive balcony that spanned the entire width of the living room and master bedroom. We were lulled to sleep each night by the singing sounds of the ocean and cool breezes from our balcony, making use of the air conditioning unnecessary. The owners, Kim and David Wood were extremely helpful. They sent us a welcome package prior to our visit that contained MapChick’s detailed map of the island, Ixchel drink coolers, and numerous tidbits of information about the island, including recommendations for activities and restaurants. Their suggestions were right on target! We selected unit 2408 as our place to stay for one main reason. This unit contained a VOIP telephone system which provided free long distance calling to the USA, as well as availability of high speed internet service, cable and WiFi. Both my husband and I were able to “work” while on vacation. We checked emails and returned phone calls to clients who had no idea we were calling from Mexico! It also made it easy to stay in touch with family members back home. To my surprise, unit 2408 provided an additional delight. It was beautifully appointed with artifacts, paintings, photos, and accessories, many of which I saw for sale in the local artisan’s shops. It was heart warming to see that the owners had supported local businesses in furnishing their condo unit. Location, location, location…on the most beautiful beach, Playa Norte, within easy walking distance to all the downtown attractions and restaurants, Ixchel Beach Hotel, and particularly Unit 2408 was the perfect choice for a vacation in paradise.

  • Dear Kim, Thank you so much for all of your help and great tips for our visit to Isla! Your suite is absolutely gorgeous, just as it is in the photographs. It was lovely and very well looked after. The view was beautiful and we were really able to take advantage of it from the balcony. Also, the food at the hotel bar, ComoNos, was very good. Nice salads and cocktails that bring out to you on the beach (which is lovely as well). The hotel staff was also very helpful and friendly. We had a great time and can't wait to visit again next year! Thanks again!
