'GROUPER THERAPY'
Just renovated in 2008! New appliances, great ocean views, decks off of the two king bedrooms, and location are just a few of the fabulous amenities this house has to offer. The decor looks like it came out of Coastal Living magazine.
This house has a very open floor plan. The kitchen, large den, dining room, and sunrooms are open and beautifully decorated. Bright, fun colors are throughout the house.
There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. On one wing there is a king bedroom that opens up to a deck, a bedroom with 2 twin beds, and one full bath. On the opposite wing, there is a king bedroom that opens up to a deck, a queen bedroom, and a full bath. All of the beds, mattresses, and bedding are brand new.
There is a large sunroom - on one side there is a 'library'/sitting area and on the other side is a sofa--perfect for relaxing.
In the dining area, you will find a table with 6 chairs. There are also sea grass barstools at the bar to make plenty of room for having meals together or just enjoying good conversation.
The house also has a huge laundry room and a large an indoor storage area.
The beach is right across the street - literally steps from the front door. You will see great ocean views from inside of the house and the decks outside. The beach access is very convenient.

Just got back from Folly and had such an amazing time at Grouper Therapy! My freinds and I went for a beachy bachelorette weekend and could not have picked a better place. Its right accross the street from the beach and a short 1.5 miles from the little town of Folly. From the deck you can even see the water and its the perfect distance to town for those avid runners! The house is super cute, updated and very spacious. And everything was beautiful and clean! The owner Jim is exremely nice and very willing to work with you. He is very quick to respond to any questions and has just done a wonderful job with the place! I would HIGHLY reccomend staying here! I know I will be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed in this house over Easter weekend and had a wonderful time. We had 7 adults and two kids in their late teens and the house had plenty of room. The living room and enclosed porch provide plenty of sitting room and are very bright and airy. The kitchen has been completely renovated and has a lot of counter space. The bar area and stools combined with the kitchen table provide adequate seating for meals. It is a very short walk to the beach and there is even an ocean view from the enclosed porch. The owner responded very quickly to the one issue we had. The only thing I would add is to bring hangers! We would definitely rent the house again. Also, if you are a first time visitor, be sure to walk back to the light house area. It is so peaceful and gorgeous.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent Thanksgiving at this house, and it was almost exactly what we expected. Good location, across the street from the ocean. Good price for what you get. Pictures of the house are accurate. Owner was available via email for any questions, which worked fine. We had to go buy a few basic items, like trash bags and hangers, but otherwise a great experience. After renting the house, but before going to Folly, I read the reviews on the property - some of which I have to admit made me a little nervous. But now that we have stayed there, I don't see where anyone should have an issue. We will likely go back to Folly and rent this house again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

I found the house to be clean and comfortable. It had everthing we needed and the location was great. We walked the beach every morning we were there. Only two bathrooms but other than that we had a great time. I will definitelly stay here on my next trip to Charleston.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were traveling the east coast and decided to make a unexpected stop in the Charleston area. I was able to friend this house on vrbo and and the owner fixed us up Johnny on the spot. The house had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. The total price with all the taxes and cleaning can out to be about 89.00 per bedroom per night. This affordable price made the stop possible. We did not spend much time on Folly Island so cant say a lot about it but had a great time in down town Charleston. The house was great and our visit was even better. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip through.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Me and two girlfriends had been looking forward to a fun getaway for months. The pictures of Grouper Therapy were perfect and we couldn't wait. Upon arrival we were so disappointed. The outside was overgrown and dirty. There is NO view from the patio as the picture shows in this listing. The bathrooms were filthy, the furniture was so dirty we didn't want to sit down. We just wanted to turn around and leave, I can't tell you how disappointing this was. Of course, we did not have an option and stayed. We went out that night to dinner and realized when we got back that none of the outside lights worked. It was dangerous walking up the steps when you could not see a thing. Only one light bulb out of four worked in the bathrooms and waterbugs crawling everywhere. The ice maker did not work and the ice trays were cracked and so thin you couldn't get the ice out of them. We called the Owner and he said he would send someone over, they never showed up. If you stay here after this review, take plenty of wine....you'll need it!Owner response: These guests thought they had booked ocean front and wanted a refund which I did not give. They threaten a bad review in return.

I have rented homes at numerous beaches along the east coast for more than 30 years. I have never been so disappointed. Read and heed this review. This property's photos are very misleading. Everything in need of repair that was mentioned in previous reviews was yet to be fixed upon our arrival and additional things cropped up during our stay. The broken bed was "fixed" mid-week but the large headboard was propped up against the wall for the remainder of the stay. The rest of the broken bedframe was left below in the carport with other previously broken furniture as well as old paint cans, trash and other debris. The grounds surrounding the home were full of litter. There was no hose to wash off prior to entering the house. A replacement hose was requested and supplied mid-week (albeit a very short hose.) The house was not cleaned properly upon our arrival. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. There were numerous lightbulbs burned out - which we replaced at our own expense. The bathrooms are in substantial disrepair. Rust, mold and dirt visible everywhere. And painted bathroom surfaces (including tub!) were peeling. The drains had not been cleaned out for some time. After the first shower, I had to deal with that very unpleasant job. Many of the plumbing elements (faucets and knobs) are loose and poorly installed. The kitchen is poorly supplied. There are plenty of pots and pans but only one serving platter, one serving bowl, and no serving sized utensils. There is no dish rack. 1/2 of the toaster was not working and it was replaced mid-week with a 2-slice toaster (thanks a lot.) And again, the broken toaster was left on-property. There is a small charcoal grill but NO grill utensils (?). The other king-sized bed frame is moments away from breaking. The furniture is generally of poor quality. Numerous drawers do not open. The bed coverlets and furniture fabric covers are stained, ripped and dirty. The rugs are also stained. And the bug problem is substantial and unacceptable. Yes it is the beach and yes it is the Charleston area but I have never encountered so many large palmetto water bugs and large spiders simply coming up through the floor boards and drains.Did you find this review helpful? I have stayed at many houses on folly and grouper therapy is the best bang for your buck, the kitchen was furnished with everything we needed and looks new. I love the location and the short walk to the beach. The beach here is the best on the island with no erosion problems even at high tide still plenty of beach to relax on. The one way street makes for a quiet stay with very little traffic. We will staying here again next year. Owner very easy to communicate with and the check in was very quick and easy. My kind of place. I better stop now or they may raise their pricesRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
