We've been to Paris a dozen times and have experienced hotel, B&B and studio accommodations. Nothing in our past prepared us for the remarkable experience of Beauce. From our first contact with Steve, the entire "Beauce experience" is one of delightful ease. The photos online do not do justice to the care, effort and details that have been provided for a visitor at Beauce. The apartment is so tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable, fresh, clean and well supplied for the traveler's every possible need. Beware of the delicious chocolates on arrival! Steve and Eric have done an exceptional job in creating a unique experience in a location that simply can't be beat. Everything one could want is within a short walking distance. All of Paris is so accessible from here! We will be back for a much longer stay and have already recommended Beauce to friends. Inspite of a week of rain & chilly weather, being at Beauce provided a warm, welcoming and sunny retreat, located close to wonderful cafes. Do not pass up a chance to experience Beauce; it will exceed your expectations in every way!
Owner response:Oh! Meg and Walt! All I can say is Wow! I'm touched. Thank you very much for this review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Beauce. We wanted to make it your 'home' in Paris. The next time you come, we will have to sit periodically at a cafe so I can hear about your adventures. I love to look in our guests eyes when they talk to me about Paris. Those eyes light up with the spirit of Paris. Promise we'll have that opportunity. Again, thank you, merci! You are now part of the Beauce family of exceptional people. Biz!

We were magnificently hosted by Steve and Eric who offered exceptional service and took great care to ensure everything was OK. We stayed a week then retuned for a few days a month later and it was like coming home. Everything was familiar and the Marais is such a great local neighbourhood experience we forgot we were tourists. Thanks so much Steve and Eric and we will be back. Rob and Wayne

The apartment is very clean, comfortable, well-maintained, in a very beautiful and convenient neighborhood of Le Marias. We used the convenient and nearby Metro stations in travel plan to study French medieval to the Third Republic history, this made our day journeys very doable, inexpensive, and pleasant. The local scene has something for everyone if you do not want to travel far. The proprietors are most helpful and really fun. The apartment is well furnished with a most comfortable bed! Everything you need has been furnished and well-thought out by the management.
Owner response:Doug and Peggy! Ready for another raclette? Or are you back to your eating ways? Haha! We had such a great time meeting you and being able to help create fantastic, loving memories. From Eric's birthday party to raclette we, too, have wonderful memories of you both and the laughter you brought to our home. We look forward to continuing our new friendship. Biz! Steve and Eric

The studio at Rue de Beauce was a true home away from home while my daughter and I spent a congratulatory six days in Paris for her birthday and grad school send-off. The neighborhood was a wonderful experience of markets, shops, and a hidden gem of a restaurant Steve & Eric shared with us. We spent every day walking to everything and never felt the need to catch a metro. The best bonus of all was having such delightful hosts willing to impart their knowledge of the best of Paris. Thank you so much for sharing this spot within the heart of my now favorite city! I look forward to another trip as soon as we can find another excuse to celebrate!
Owner response: Well you two were a breath of fresh air. You brought absolutely beautiful weather, cranberries, and pumpkin just for us. Wow! Eric and I were happy to see that you captured the spirit of Beauce, le Marais and Paris. We loved the time with you sipping hot chocolate at Angelina's; eating pizza at Sant Antonio's; and feasting at La Fontaine Gourmande. Thank you both and you know that you never need a reason or excuse to come to Paris. It awaits with open arms. Merci, biz, a bientot!

We spent two months in Beauce in 2011 and are returning for six more weeks in 2012 . Need I say more? Our hosts were wonderfully kind and helpful. The apartment, though small by American standards, was more than satisfactory for our purposes. With about six cafés within a short two or three block walk, we were able to spend many hours relaxing and watching Paris walk by. We recommend it highly.
Owner response:Thank you Erwin and Alexandria! Merci! That is what Paris is about. Sitting in a café, sipping a glass of wine and watching Paris go by. We did that at Le Sancerre (except you and I had happy beers) with an accompaniment of a band. Ah! Paris! le Marais! Both of you brought a great spirit to Beauce and we can't wait to have you back next year.

When you stay at Beauce, it is more than renting an apartment. It is an experience you will never forget. The apartment is perfect and beautifully appointed with everything one would need. The magic comes from the owners, Steve and Eric who become immediate friends as well as their helpful ally Elizabeth who made my trip so extraordinary. The location is wonderful and the Marais is the only place to be in Paris--the Enfant Rouge market, the cafes and boutiques everywhere, the convenience of being able to walk to Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, the Place de Voges, Rue de Rosier and more. Eric and Steve, thank you for your over the top hospitality, your fabulous dinner, and the incredible effort you put in to making my Paris experience the best. Elizabeth, you are truly special. Thanks for showing me your Marais with your little dog, Mephisto. I consider you all friends forever. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Paris. If you are lucky enough to stay at Beauce, grab it. You won't regret it.
Owner response:Sherm it was a great pleasure. You brought laughter, enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit. Eric, Elizabeth and I loved having you here and hope to have you back one day. Maybe to be special guests at your own art gallery opening. Once again I'm reminded that there are no strangers in this world, only friends I haven't met yet. Thank you for your kind spirit and we too consider you a friend. I'm so happy you found Beauce as wonderful as we know it is. And, yes, you're right. You can walk anywhere and everywhere! You and others have said they feel so comfortable and don't want to leave the "hood". Again thank you! See you one day in Napa!! Steve, Eric, Elizabeth and all our friends you met

Like everybody who wrote before me, I loved my stay at Beauce ! a cozy, well appointed, well situated nest from which to explore Paris...a comfortable place to come back to at night and to linger in the morning...the neighborhood is full of everything that one might need and as you go from shop to shop picking up a few tomatoes, some charcuterie,a bottle of wine, you can pretend that you live there... it would be hard to go back to a hotel! The Beauce team is a delight : Steve, charming and upbeat, always quick to answer all queeries,Eric who's great laugh is still in my head and Elisabeth who gave me a very helpful tour of the neighborhood and answered my questions about french politics (we were in full pensin reform crisis!) Merci, merci to all three ! all the best, Mireille
Owner response:Merci Mireille! As soon as I received your email, Paris smiled. We loved having you here and being part of the Beauce family. We had such a great time sitting with you, drinking wine and talking in French and English. And when we see Albina and Anne they ask, "How is Mireille? Have you heard from her?" They, too, think you are fabulous. You wowed Paris. Your month stay really allowed you to experience the Marais and life at Beauce and on rue de Bretagne. We send you our charm, our laughter and knowledge (on French politics). A la prochaine! Steve, Eric & Elizabeth

Steve made the application and reservation process friendly and inviting, though unfortunately my niece and I didn’t meet him in person (except for one phone call) because he was out of town while we were there. However, his partner, Eric, and their nearby friend and associate, Elizabeth, were as helpful as could be. This included the first night, when we blew a circuit breaker while attaching an American-style electrical appliance, and the Sunday evening wine & cheese fête we threw for them. When I chose to give my blistered feet a rest one morning, the DVD collection and flat-screen HD TV enabled me to watch the film “La Vie en Rose.” The Wi-Fi network in the apartment helped me to keep up with my e-mail (on an iPod Touch). The neighborhood has a splendid array of shops and restaurants – and no hotels – and lots of locals filling them and the surrounding streets. Outdoor market (Marche des Enfants Rouges) is hidden away through an alley right next to the apartment! Also in the neighborhood is the fascinating Musee des Arts et Metiers. The nearby mairie (village hall) for the 3e arrondissement was holding a weeklong outdoor music festival during our stay, so check into other activities that may be happening there. We ate in several restaurants in the neighborhood and were never disappointed. And we were 10 minutes’ walk from three different metro lines.
Owner response:Hi Elliott! Thank you for the review. So sorry I wasn't able to be there to meet you and your niece in person. And sorry I missed out on the wine and cheese fete! Darn! :) Anyway I am so happy that you found the neighborhood to your liking. It really does have a splendid spirit and there's always something to do. It really is hard to describe just how close to everything you are from the apartment so thanks for bringing that up. I certainly hope you'll be back to Beauce and Paris so I can meet you and enjoy a wine and cheese fete! Elizabeth and Eric send their 'bonjour!" to you both. And don't go blowing any more circuit breakers!! Haha!

I could effuse and go on for pages about how wonderful, fabulous, marvelous, terrific Steve and Eric are as hosts. I could rave about the perfect little jewel that is the sweet, neat, attractive, comfortable, convenient, cosy apartment at 14 rue de Beauce. I could tell you about the great bistros, fresh fish shops, flower shops, cheese shops, fruit shops, butcher shops, patisserie, bars, marche, street stalls that are the neighbors. I could talk about the shops, museums, exhibitions, parks, hidden squares, roman walls, glamorous women, handsome men, cute children, endearing dogs, odd places people park cars, velibs, the convenient metro..on...and on...and on... BUT I WON'T!!!! If you are planning a visit to Paris and want the perfect place to stay, forget the Georges V, take 14 rue de Beauce...you'll be delirious with delight...JUST AS WE WERE!!!! Bisous to you both Steve and Eric and one hundred thousand thanks, it was heaven! Judy and Wal
Owner response:My dearest Jude and Walt. I'm left speechless (unusual for me). Your trip to Paris and stay at Beauce brightened our lives and enlivened our spirits. You captured the energy and joie de vivre of Paris. And Walt proposed at the Eiffel Tower. Life is soooooo good! Once again we have been blessed with new friendships and look forward to more chances for us to sit, have dinner, a drink and engage in witty conversation. You know that from us you have un bisous everyday. With sincere thanks for coming into our lives we send you our love. Steve and Eric

It is difficult for me to know where to begin this review. Do I start by raving about the beautiful accommodations or do I start by celebrating the extraordinary hospitality and thoughtfulness of Steve and Eric. Even before we arrived everything about "Beauce" was perfect. Steve kept in great communication and was incredibly helpful before, during, and after our stay. The apartment was PERFECT. The pictures on VRBO don't do it justice. The apartment fills with a glowing light even on rainy days and feels so warm. Now onto convenience... between the adapter, hair dryer, the ipod stereo, and the beautiful bottle of wine that awaited us when we got there, everything that could possibly have made our stay nice and comfortable was thought of. Beauce truly was home away from home. The street is so quiet and cute and right in the heart of the Marais. Everything was so easy to get to and Beauce felt like our little sanctuary to come home to after a long day of hoofing it around Paris. The kitchen has everything you need to try your hand at French cooking if you feel like it, and the adorable, and famous, market just downstairs makes it quite convenient to pick up your ingredients. If not, there is a fabulous restaurant just outside the door at Les Enfants Rouge. Beauce is more than what we could ever have dreamed of. Steve and Eric, we love you! Thank you for everything. Hillary and Brian
Owner response:Hillary and Brian--you are, now where did this line come from?---"Too precious for words." We are touched by your generous words. I still look up every time I hear someone rolling their luggage on rue de Bretagne hoping that when I do it will be you two. From our emails I knew you were special. But in person you two redefined for me the goodness and beauty of people. I can't thank you enough for that. Once again Beauce was blessed with a special, lovely couple. Your hearts and smiles still make Beauce glow and brighten each day for me. We send a big hug and hope to see you again. Bisous, Steve & Eric

Rue de Beauce is a jewel in Le Marais, and Steve and Eric are treasures of the human kind! My husband and I stayed at the flat over a 4 week period this fall, and our experience was extraordinary. It was the charming, romantic home base for our "honeymoon" that came 30 years after the wedding. Everything you need is there: the bed is fantastic, the linens divine, the bathroom and kitchen are perfect, the neighborhood ancient and friendly...need I go on? It is the most welcoming flat you can imagine. How hard it was to leave our happy abode, and to say goodbye to our newest and dearest friends, Steve and Eric. Paris is magical all by herself, but nothing beats the joy of returning to your own uniquely special place after a day of exploring the city. Don't hesitate to make Rue de Beauce your choice when you visit Paris. You will make memories of a lifetime. Merci Steve and Eric, and love to Elizabeth! A bientot!
Owner response:Oh my goodness! Talk about bringing sunshine, laughter, and love to Beauce! Eric and I miss you soooooo much. I wish there were magical words to explain the impact you had on our lives and such joy and happiness you brought to Paris and Beauce. From sitting in the apartment and having drinks to fighting the wind and rain at Versailles. Your spirit continues to warm our hearts and brighten Beauce. We can't wait to once again give and return the hugs we grew accustomed to. Thank you both for your love and know it comes back to you threefold. Thank you from the hearts. Bisous! Steve and Eric

Fresh flowers were an appreciated finishing touch to the presentation. The photos do not do it justice! We have recommended it to our friends and hope there is a vacancy for our next trip to Paris.
Owner response:Wow! How wonderful! I'm sitting here on Christmas Eve and could not have wished for a better gift. Thank you so much for the kind words. I will always make sure you have the apartment when you come back to Paris. We look forward to your return. Steve, Eric Elizabeth

Steve and Eric are, without a doubt, the finest hosts we've ever had at any vacation property - and I include many fine hotels and resorts in this comparison. Why? What makes their place different? The warm, genuine, and personal hospitality they provided just blew us away and exceeded every expectation. (And our expectations were very high! It was a romantic trip to Paris, after all.) It just could not have been the same wonderful trip without them. We will return to Paris and, if we're lucky, there will be room for us at Rue de Beauce. There's just no place else we'd rather stay. Tracy & Peter
Owner response:We are truly humbled. It's people like you, Tracy and Peter, who make it so easy to be genuine, warm and hospitable. We are only mirror images of those who enter our lives. For us, we will always welcome you with open arms and open hearts, in Paris; at Beauce because we love how you make us better people. un grand bisous mes amis! Steve et Eric

Our visit in June 2009 was fantastic! Steve and Eric's hospitality and introduction to the neighborhood got us off to a wonderful start. We enjoyed their enthusiastic welcome. The up-to-date accommodations were comfortable, convenient, and located in a charming area. We shopped in the local food markets and dined in several nearby sidewalk cafes. We found the people of Paris to be warm, hospitable, and helpful with directions. Thank you Steve and Eric. We love Paris!
Owner response:Bonjour Linda & Andy! What timing! I was just looking at the pictures of us sitting along the Seine with our Berthillon ice creams. Ahhh!! I'm glad to see "We love Paris". To not love Paris is to not love life. Anyway, thank you. Your terrific spirit is still felt in Beauce and Paris. Come Back!

Ooh-la-la! We can't say enough about this place and its wonderful owners, Steve and Eric. The location is excellent for dining out or staying in with plenty of places to choose from either way. The neighborhood is lively - much to do and see everywhere you turn and within walking distance of many attractions. We felt safe going out in the evening and while we slept on the wonderfully comfortable big bed. The place is immaculate with plenty of great white linens, CD's and videos to help you feel at home, great shower/tub - every attention to detail one can imagine! Finally we caught up on laundry and e-mail here! Steve and Erc were charming to say the least. We found that we now have 2 new friends in Paris and miss them already. These guys went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable, so very special. After discussing a particular video one night, Steve made a special trp to bring it to us the next day. They remembered the special events whih brought us to Paris and helped us celebrate in French stle! Steve and Eric are 2 of the most thoughtful people we have ever met. Merci beaucoup to them for making our trip so unforgettable. Tom and Vicki, Arizona
Owner response:You two are super! Thank you so much! We had such great fun sitting and chatting with you over wine, dinner, wine. haha! We truly miss your joie de vivre here in Paris and each time I open the door to the apartment I expect to see you both with open arms. What memories we have of you here. April in Paris was excellent and the studio in the Marais was the PERFECT home base to enjoy our week. I spent hours looking online for an apartment before our trip, and I'm glad I kept going until I found this gem. Steve is a great host--more than willing to share his enthusiasm for Paris. If you have the chance to walk through the Marais with him, by all means, do so. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we were able to spend with him. Back to the apartment: it has everything you need: Internet connection, CD player (with a stock of CDs), TV, great "book exchange" stack--leave one, take one--decent variety--We didn't use the kitchen very much, but it has a mini-fridge (perfect for keeping our milk, bottled water and sodas cold) and stove top and microwave, as well as sink. Grocery store is right around the corner--super convenient. We did use the washer and dryer to do laundry--worked great. The neighborhood is fun: easy walking to the River, Notre Dame, the Louvre, great shops and restaurants, etc. (We even walked to the Eiffel Tower one morning--it's not close, but it's a "do-able" walk.) How great to come back each night to this great space where we slept very comfortably each night. Thanks again for helping us have a great vacation!
Owner response:Hey Rik & Brad! Thank YOU! Had it not been for the apartment I would never have had the chance to meet two great guys from West Palm Beach. Le Marais is special as you both discovered. Sharing it is an honor. When I saw you two walking home from breakfast I knew you belonged here. I look forward to your return to Paris. Steve

Hi Steve and Eric, What a wonderful two weeks we had in your charming, comfortable and bright apartment in the most amazing area filled with great food shops, the most interesting market Les Enfant Rouge and the best patisserie, La Fougasse. We attest that everything you wrote and your commenters wrote about the area and the apartment is true. But even more to the point is that you two are great landlords. We enjoyed having wine and conversation with you in the apartment and a major highpoint was the evening tour of Montmartre you gave us, driving all around the Pigalle and Montmartre areas and ending with the most beautiful night view of Paris from the foot of Sacre Coeur. And of course, the meal in Place du Tertre, which was enhanced by Eric's lesson on cell phone photography. A good teacher, but a weak student. Thanks also to Elizabeth for her caring help in getting started and getting out for the return trip home. All warm wishes for a happy year and great success with the apartment. Rachael and Jeal
Owner response:Bonjour Rachael et Jeal, Eric and I had such a good time with you both. From the first meeting to the late night in Montmartre. Seems like we were old friends having a get together. I just don't know how much more blessed we can get. I hope you enjoy the chocolates. Now don't eat them all at once! Thank you both for your kind words and company. Not to mention the BBQ sauce!! Yummy! :)

Comment Text: Bonjour, Steve and Eric! What can we possibly add to all the rave reviews for you and your lovely apartment? We would recommend it to anyone, and will come back to stay again if we can. Everything was just as described on your website. The apartment is stylish but comfortable, quiet, clean, well-equipped, and in a great location. We especially appreciated the good lighting and cozy arm chairs, the books and music, and the thoughtful little touches like the first aid kit and the welcome basket. Best of all was having new friends in Paris! We are so grateful to you, Steve, for all the help you gave us by email before we arrived, and for your wonderful welcome and practical help the day we arrived -- not to mention the neighborhood tour. There's nothing like being introduced to a city by someone who loves it and knows it well. Eric, we send special thanks for all your efforts to fix the TV so we could keep an eye on M. Sarkozy and his lovely bride, and for being our trip photographer. Please give our regards to Ben and Sophie. We wish we could get together with you sometime soon over a glass of wine. We send warm regards and many thanks.
Owner response:Bonjour Bett & Ken, Ah! How nice it would be to sit with the two of you over a glass of wine or cup of coffee to hear about your day in Paris. You brightened not only our lives but Paris itself. Bett, your laugh was contagious! Ken, I loved listening to you speak of cathedrals. Ben, Sofia, Eric and I send un grand bisous. What a wonderful location and apartment. In a quiet and friendly neighborhood of Paris, we were immersed into the French culture. If we didn’t walk there, we Metro’d. In the morning we would walk around the corner to the local Patisserie and get our morning fix of croissants. Our artery into the Paris attractions was the Rue des Archives. After six days, we knew that street well. Would we go back? We are planning our next trip.Steve, the host, was so gracious. After booking he was a wealth of information through emails regarding the what and how to’s. Upon arrival he showed us around the neighborhood, the best café’s, the Metro stops, the market and everything to help us get our Paris “legs”. If we had questions, he was only a phone call away. So the choice is staying is a tiny hotel room and acting like a tourist, or this. Also, take Steve a bottle of the best regional barbeque sauce and he will be your friend forever.a bientot
Owner response:Thanks Bob and Linda! I'm so happy you found l'esprit de Paris and the spirit of the neighborhood. You two are great and I am honored to know you (and it's not because of the BBQ sauce). Can't wait for your return! The next time will be more relaxing and I promise you a homemade French dinner. a bientot, Steve

Staying at this great apartment in the heart of the Marais was the best experience I could ever have on my first trip to Paris. At the same time being at the center of a young, lively neighborhood with great cafes, shops, boutiques, (and museums a very short walk away), I also had a wonderful sleep each night since its a small quiet street just off the busier Rue de Bretagne. The apartment was more than sufficient to satisfy even those who like to have all the amenities of a hotel without the concierge. But, Steve was awesome...he warmly welcomed me on my arrival, made himself accessible if I had questions, needed any kind of info, etc... during my time in Paris, and wished me a warm farewell on my last day in Paris. Having a great apartment to stay at as well as a wonderful host such as Steve just made my stay in Paris an unforgettable one! I hope to come back soon and stay there again! I would definitely recommend the apartment to my friends when they plan to come to Paris. And, it was a very short walk to the Metro, Bastille, Notre Dame...centrally located in what I would say is one of the best neighborhoods in Paris! I hope to come back soon!
Owner response:Thank you Ron! Like many people who come to Paris you captured the joie de vivre in this fantastic city. It was such a pleasure to welcome you. Everyone, Eric, Sylvie and Denis, says hello--even Mylene!! Thank you also for the terrific gift! What a surprise! I look forward to your return. Steve

I stayed in this apartment for an extended weekend in early April, and had a truly wonderful visit. The studio is much more comfortable than a standard hotel room--with all the amenities one could want, very clean and nicely arranged and decorated. It's perfect for a single or a couple, ample space to relax, or "eat-in" if one is worn out from walking around the city all day. Steve was a fantastic host, waiting for me when I arrived, very friendly and engaging. After showing me around the apartment, he took me on a tour of the neighborhood. While rue de Beauce is a quiet street, great for resting and sleeping, it is barely steps away from rue de Bretagne, with cafes, boulangerie, grocery store, and all the charm one expects from the wonderful city of Paris. The neighborhood is replete with history, boutiques, and captivating architecture. Major attractions are within easy walking distance, or the Metro is right nearby as well. Steve was equally as prompt and solicitous when it came time to leave (alas) as well, showing up in precisely on time. He even answered some email queries I sent him during the visit--and was available should there be a need. A clear win in my book--I'd recommend staying here in a heartbeat, and hope to do so again soon.
Owner response:Merci John! Even with the "airplane dust" and no luggage (we won't go there) you arrived in high spirits, ready to explore Paris. I'm happy the apartment suited you and I look forward to your return. I'm so glad you enjoyed your home away from home.

We had a fantastic time in Paris! We were there for 10 days. The apartment is perfectly located near some of the best sights in the city. It is extremely convenient when you can walk to local stores or markets. The oldest covered outdoor market in Paris is a 1-minute walk. (It is right out of a French picture book!!) One minute in the other direction is a modern Supermarket and lots of other great places to eat, and shop. It is walking distance to the River Seine, Notre Dame, the Pompideu Center, Musee du Louvre, and the Latin Quarter. For real hikers, like us, the Musee d' Orsay, and Eiffel Tower are less than an hour by foot. We really enjoyed walking the streets because then we felt we really were part of the city. Public transportation is available close to the apartment, also. On our last visit we stayed in a hotel. We thought this apartment was actually much better than a hotel. It became our home away from home. It was much quieter, and we had the privacy we wanted. We took advantage of the kitchen on several evenings, so we actually were able to save some money. The bed was very comfortable, and the building and location were very quiet. The apartment is furnished nicely, has a private toilet and bath, clothes washer and drier, refrigerator, cooking range and cooking utensils. It was very neat and clean. It was so nice to come home to after our daily sightseeing had worn us out. Steve, the owner of the apartment was eager to please, and knows the city very well. He showed us how to work everything in the apartment when we got there. He gave us plenty of useful advice on what to do, where to go, etc. This particular apartment, for us, was an ideal set up, in an ideal location, in the perfect city. It was fantastic!!! We both heartily recommend this place and are looking forward to our return visit!!
Owner response:Thank you very much, Ken and Sara, for your kind words. You were absolutely delightful. I enjoyed my time with you and look forward to your return to Paris. I promise I won't walk you all the way to the Eiffel Tower next time. :) You truly captured the spirit of Paris. The handmade thank you card will always be cherished. Merci, merci,et un grand merci!
