Great long weekend at Lorin and Alan's place with my wife and two boys (age 5 and 2). House was perfect sized for us, very comfortable and roomy for a family. The living space is nice and open with beautiful views. Great modern kitchen, well stocked. Big beautiful fireplace. But the best feature of the house is the beach. We have been to beaches around the world, and this was one of the couple most beautiful we have seen; simple beach, but really calm and spectacular. Southold is great, and had a great time visiting wineries. One note: Lorin gave us fair warning that the house was not child proof, mostly because of the circular staircase. We decided to rent the house anyways, and used gates to make sure our two year old didnt take on the stairs. It worked out fine, but families with young children should be aware.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This is a gem - I have rented various houses off VRBO and stayed in North Fork hotels - this is by far the best yet. The owners are wonderful people, straight forward, and responsive - we had no issues with our rental experience. This house is perfectly located in Southold (a nicer town of the North Fork) - right on the sound with beach access and a wonderful deck. Lots of windows and light, perfect for 2 or 3 couples (3rd room is 2 twins that could be put together for a 3rd couple or perfect for kids). We will return for sure - the house can be used all year around and has a beautiful fireplace and kitchen. Perfect for those looking to flee NYC for the country to visit wineries, walk on the beach and/or sit around the fire with family or friends. Wonderful farm stands paired with a great working kitchen made for fantastic beach-front dinners - thanks again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

"There may be no better month in my mind than October in the North Fork of Long Island. Between the vineyards, pumpkin picking, fishing, fantastic farm stands, outlet shopping and golf there is always something to do. Combine all that with this beautiful home on the beach over looking the Long Island Sound and you have what I think is a perfect family vacation. My wife and I celebrated our 1st year wedding anniversary and couldn't have had a better experience. Having your morning coffee looking out over the sound could not have been any more relaxing to start a day, and ending it with breath taking sunsets while grilling local stripe bass and local corn, is absolutely a perfect bookend. I would highly recommend renting this property anytime of the year, as the home is comfortable and cozy that even the coldest January day I'm sure would be a delight let alone the Summer fun that can be had on the beach."Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Everything as stated. Beautiful spot, beautiful views. House clean, comfortable, fully loaded, Bikes and kayaks available. Wonderful large deck to enjoy view and fabulous sunsets. Quiet and private. Plenty of good restaurants in area. Loved it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Spending two weeks in January in a beach house may not be everyman's idea of a perfect holiday but for us it was just that. Basically we are not beach combers but hikers so we walked the beaches and backroads and at night enjoyed a blazing fire. This modern house is flooded with light. From three sides one has a view of the Long Island Sound which on some days is placid and on others violent. The house is open, decorated in a minimalistic style, very comfortable and furnished with every amenity. In a word it is first-rate. We enjoyed each minute of our stay and most definitely would love to return. We spent 5 amazing days in this wonderful house, with two more couples. Everything was perfect!! The house is super warm and cozy, the view is AMAZING and everything worked perfect. I surprised my fiancee for his birthday by renting this beautiful house for the weekend. I was concerned because we arrived at the house at night, in the middle of a terrible storm. The house is right on Long Island Sound and there were 50 mile per hour winds. I thought the weekend could be ruined. As soon as we turned the key and entered the house we knew our weekend was going to be perfect. The house was just beautiful. It was even more beautiful in person than it was in the pictures I saw on the internet. The next morning when we walked outside the bedroom we saw the most magnificent view imaginable. The surf was rough and the winds were howling but the view was just breathtaking. The house was warm and inviting and we loved it and had the most wonderful weekend. It was the PERFECT WEEKEND IN THE PERFECT HOUSE. My fiancee said he could not have asked for a better birthday present. We hope to return again soon. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your magnificent home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

I took my Mom & her sisters here in late Sept. I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful time we had. We didn't even want to leave the house at all. Best views, fully equipped kitchen,great sound system for music, right on the beach..this house had it all & was immaculate too! It is in a great location if you did want to explore, there were plenty of restaurants near by, the town of Greenport is just mins. away Lorin (owner) was very nice & accommodating, making sure your needs are taken care of. Now that it is winter & snowing here (every other day) on L.I. I find myself wishing I were able to go back to the house & just sit by the fire & look out at the snow & water..it must be beautiful. I will definitely put that on my bucket list! To be able to have & give these memories to my loved ones will last a lifetime.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a fabulous relaxing weekend at this beach house. The views, sunsets and stargazing were absolutely amazing. Lorin was a pleasure to work with. The house inspired us to start our own sea glass collection. We look forward to returning in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This gorgeous beach home was just awesome! We can't wait to return and absolutely hated to leave. Stunning views from every room will make your stay so memorable and the beach is truly steps away from the deck. The entire home is beautifully furnished and the kitchen is a dream to work in with panoramic sound views as you prepare your meals. Everything is immaculate and the location couldn't be better. Bring your bathing suit and toothbrush and everything else you could need is here! Also this home is equipped with the best and most comfortable beds!! The landlords are terrific to work with and have thought of everything to make this a wonderful place to vacation. Great artwork, books to read, bikes and games for kids....I can't say enough about how spectacular this place is.....not to mention brilliant sunsets and great stargazing. Stay here and you definitely won't be sorry!!! This is an incredibly immaculate house located right on the beach... When we arrived it surpassed my expectations and was even more beautiful then the photos..You feel like you are on a boat... The wonderful details in the house, jug full of beach glass, hard cover travel and art books, paperbacks were just wonderful... Love your watercolors in the upstairs bathroom... Where did you get that fabulous wall hanging in the downstairs bedroom? It is obvious that the owners take great care with their home... Lorin was incredibly helpful and her renters instructions covered everything you could possibly think of and more. I would recommend this house to anyone who appreciates great design and wants an open feeling right on the water... Cool mid century couch in the living room... Definitely will be back next summer.. My family stayed at this beautifully renovated house earlier this summer. We were thrilled with the location, not only are u right on the beach, but it is so very private and ideal for young children.The house is more gorgeous than the photos and the sunsets are spectacular.We loved being on the North fork, much more low key than the South Fork. The house is well equipped-the owner must be a cook!! We will definitely come back next summer.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
