We had a wonderful time! The condo is absolutely gorgeous, and the Island is amazing!!! The close walk to the beach, the beautiful cactus garden, the friendly birds on the lanai, the amazing snorkeling right off the beach, and the helpful people working at the resort, made our trip long trip SOOOOOOO worth it!!! This is our first trip to Kauai and it has been wonderful. My husband won a trip here and we extended our trip to stay in your condo. This was the perfect start to an unforgettable trip! I'm not a "public" person, so I don't make comments as such. However, I want to assure you personally that we found your unit quite nice and comfortable. I know Kiahuna, and I think that all of your choices for the remodel were great! The WIFI was a particular plus. We didn't mind the rather rainy weather, since it is warm rain, and we managed to do all that we wanted to do! Reading to the sound of raindrops is quite lovely :-) Thank you for offering your unit through VRBO.

This was a our third visit to Kiahuna Plantation and we love it. If you want a great condo, on beautiful grounds, a few steps from the beach then this is THE place. The resort is well located, quiet, relaxing and kid-friendly. Unit #39 has been nicely renovated and we would definitely stay here again. It's very well located - the lanai opens directly onto the beautiful lawns and from there it's a short walk to the beach. I found Randy was very friendly and helpful to deal with. Mahalo, Randy!

Enjoyed staying at your condo. What a beautiful condo complex and the bed was so comfortable. Your redo was beautifully done. We had some friends that stayed at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation condos and it was old and the kitchen was so small. Will recommend your condo to our friends and we may use it again, if we come back to Kauai.

Hi Randy: we had a lovely time and it was so hard to leave. Even our five year old son said he wanted to stay. We loved your condo: it was a great location, halfway between the beach and the pool. We could easily walk to either. We loved the fact that it had been remodeled and updated so nicely.Your condo was well stocked with every convenience we needed, and was quite clean. Had a wonderful time at this beautiful condo. Owner was great to work with and the registration office was extremely helpful and friendly. Private lanai was a plus to relax on after a day at the beach. Easy walk to the beach with chairs and towels available at the beach hut. We had an excellent time in Kauai and this property was a great find. The unit was clean, updated, and had everything we needed. The location of this unit was great because you had privacy yet weren't far from anything. Really appreciated the boogie boards and snorkel gear that they make available to renters! We really enjoyed pulling up a chair on the nicely manicured lawn in front of the beach and enjoying the sunset w/ a bottle of wine each night. Can't wait to go back!

Yes, we really enjoyed staying in your condo!! Your condo was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, especially the blender! The dishwasher and oven both also worked well, just like those in our home! My kids loved the lanai that leads to the wide and spacious lawn area. Although we didn't always stayed at the Kiahuna beach, your unit was so close to parking/exit, we visited Brennecke' and Poipu beaches by car very conveniently.

I've been visiting The Kiahuna Plantation since I was a child (my Grandparents own a condo there) and I really liked the renovation done to your unit. It is very open and great for a family get-together. Decor was lovely. It was also clean (minus some sand that had not been cleaned up on the floor & in drawers prior to our checking in). The only complaint, really, is that you can really hear people in the next building--which is out of your control ;-). We had our family reunion here, so really spent a lot of time at Kiahuna/the beach for relaxing & catching up. We went up to Kokee/Waimea Canyon for our traditional picnic lunch in the meadow & a hike. This trip we didn't make it to Hanalei side--we usually stop along the way at the Kilauea light house as well. We went to the Koloa Plantation Days in Koloa & got to see Henry Kapono perform--was great! We also frequent the shopping center across the street for shopping & eating. Ate @ Puka Dog & Roys. Also did some shopping there during their sidewalk sale. I'm from Oahu, but still enjoy getting away to another island--can really relax away from work and other responsibilities. Thank you!

Owner response:I'm so glad your family had a nice family reunion at Kiahuna and that your family did enjoy our condo. There is rarely noise from the next building since the buildings aren't close. If someone is on the lanai and is loud, unfortunately, the sound will carry. There are bushes and a fair amount of space between the buildings, so it's most always extremely quiet and private. I'm glad that you still enjoyed our condo, though! It is pretty special.

The condo was clean, bright, modern and just right for a family of four vacation accommodation. Everything one needs is supplied in the condo. The condo itself is spacious, furnished well for a beach house and very comfortable. The floor to ceiling windows allow the Kauai breezes to flow through the condo keeping the temperature just right. We didn’t miss the air conditioning at all! The beautiful turquoise beach is just steps away and we had a lot of fun jumping the waves and just relaxing. We even saw sea turtles bobbing in the ocean at the beach! The condo is far enough away from the beach to afford some privacy and overlooks a large green space from the lanai. The condo is within driving distance to many amenities and restaurants and everything one needs to supply food and drink for the stay is readily available. Overall, we had a great time at the condo and thank you for opening your house to us!

Our son planned this trip a year ago for us to celebrate our 30th Anniv. "Great intentions don't always meet Great expectations". This makes our 3rd time to Hawaii. We can both say that OUR 30th Anniv. was as Fabulous as the First time we were in Hawaii for our Honeymoon. Our Son's Great Intentions definitely met and exceeded any expectations we might have had. The Island & Weather were fantastic but the condo was truly the "Icing" on our cake as it allowed us to forget the world we left for a week. Beautifully decorated. Fresh and contemporary for today and had the feeling of the tropics. CLEAN AND MAINTAINED. Owners' photos show exactly what we received and experienced. The quiet and laid back feel of the condo allowed us to do exactly that and is exactly what we needed to get away from our family business back home in Indiana We Loved the air flow allowing the Sea breezes to filter through the condo regardless what room we were in. The condo is located in a great spot with Great convenience to the beach or outdoor activities. Yet it is walking distance to many surrounding eateries many of which can be simple or finer dining. We realized we had this wonderful kitchen but we came to RELAX and be WAITED on and so we did alot of Both. We visited quite a few local restaurants and can say honestly we never had a bad meal. The beach was spacious/clean and can't beat that soothing sound of waves that the Pacific ocean supplies, especially coming from the Midwest. We will truly miss this wonderful Island in the Harsh Midwest wintery days ahead but We have promised ourselves to return within the next 5 years. I won't forget those incredible sunsets, pounding waves and early wake up calls(6am) of the songbirds around the condo. Definitely will recommend to our friends. Thanks once again for allowing us to share your home with us during this special moment in our lives. 100% SATISFIED!

Song birds, breezes, sun, and garden paradise on the beach

Just returned a couple of days ago from a 7 day stay in the condo with my wife. We are in our 30's and have been to all the other Hawaiian islands except for Kauai. I have to say that I fell in love with this island. I wouldn't recommend bringing kids (take them to Oahu or Maui), but for a couple this island was perfection. I found it very, very hard to leave and still miss it. The biggest reason being the tranquility and accessibility of nature, isolation, and awesome beaches. It also helped that the condo exceeded our expectations! We arrived late at night and really didn't get a sense as to our bearings until the next morning. The quality of the condo (and the Kiahuna Plantation) exceeded our expectations. This unit in particular is one of the only we saw that had a mostly private patio. We loved the King bed since we are both very tall. Also loved the huge shower (with high shower head) and the constant, cool breeze flowing through the paneless windows. The kitchen was also high quality, although we ended up eating out most nights. Usually just walked across the street to the Poipu shopping center which has Roy's, gelato, small grocery store, and a couple of other good restaurants. The beach was great and I was able to bodyboard on the outer reef each morning. We would highly recommend this condo if staying in south Kauai. When we return to the island, the only thing that would keep us from renting it again would be if we instead get a rental house on the North Shore. In fact, we loved the condo so much, we would love the opportunity to buy one ourself.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful condo with our family. We love all of the updates as well as the privacy of the lanai. The proximity to the beach is a plus as well! We had fantastic weather and took our annual surfing lessons with Kauai Surf School which is highly recommended. We love visiting the Poipu Shopping Village as well as the new center down the road. What a great unit! I have stayed in several of the units at Kiahuna, and this was one the of best. It was nicely decorated, and so private. It was so great to be able to walk right to the beach. It was so close to the beach that we could use our baby monitor!!! It even had a great spot out back to play frisbee. What a great time we had! Thanks so much!

This condo is comfortable and classy. It is really just steps away to the shore and BBQ with a view. There is no better condo complex nearby either. Owner is straight forward and easy to talk to. We splurged and feel it was totally worth it.

We aren't gonna' take a chance on getting one that isn't as nice as yours ... perfect distance from the beach (again...quiet...seemed the families were mostly around the open, grassy, area by the beach, so we didn't even have an 'kid noises'.......ha...not that we don't like kids, but we had spent all of our time with our grandkidlets and were 'happy to be away from little ones for a while'.... Location Location Location. The Kiahuna Plantation is the only place we will ever stay when we visit Kauai. The property there is so perfect. There is the beautiful green grass area right next to the beach for relaxing, and then most amazing sand beach for tanning, swimming, snorkling, sunrises and especially sunsets. WE DID IT ALL! The barbeque grills on the green belt were great for cooking steaks and fresh fish. One night we cooked steaks, made baked potatoes, and a delicious salad after shopping at the Kola farmers market for fresh fruit and vegtables. We sat on the beautiful lanai overlooking the georgeous gardens and watched a movie on our lap top. Sooooo much fun. Then theres the condo itself, It's decorated beautifully, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had beautiful granite countertops with goergeous cabinets, it was well stocked with all the kitchen ecentials..The bed was great and they had plenty of fans to keep us comfortable at night. The bathroom was very nice too. Having a real shower makes all the difference. The only thing I wished is that we had a view of the ocean, we were only about 2 minutes walk to the beach, but the beautiful condo made up for that. The town of Kola was the perfect town, everything you could possibly need, great local food, very nice local people everywhere we went. Randy Nordstrom, the owner was great helping us to plan ahead and answering all of our e-mails and phone calls. I can't stop talking about our trip. I can't wait to go back. We will stay again and again I hope!

Our June 2010 stay here was fantastic! The unit was located just a quick walk from the beach and featured a part-sun/part-shade patio that allowed everyone in our family to be comfortable. Our 4 year old and 1 year old loved the huge grassy lawn off the patio and made friends with many neighbor families. We were really impressed by the decorating and updated style. We would definitely recommend this unit and plan to rebook for our next trip to Kauai. We have seen other units at the Kiahuna Plantaion and they did not compare to this one!

I am not so sure why it took me so long to write this review because I think about our trip to Kauai all the time. One year ago this week we were staying in Randy's condo. It was our first time to Kauai and it was an amazing trip. The condo is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures!. It is very spacious and just perfect!! It has everything you need, is very clean, and is in a perfect location. You have to experience it to truly appreciate its beauty, location to the beach, outdoor area for relaxing, and the fresh Hawaii air that breezes through the condo. This condo is in a great location on the Outrigger Plantation and just a short walk away from the beach. I would highly recommend this condo!!! I cant wait to go back!

Excellent experience--this condo was nicely decorated, well located and within a beautiful setting! I would recommend the Kiahuna Plantation to all travelers who are visiting Kauai. Also, you can shop around for better deals as I extended my vacation by 5 days and was moved to another beautiful unit for a more favorable price. Was wondering what kind of special pricing would be availiable if renting for a full month?

The condo was simply amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we loved Poipu Beach. The weather was so nice and I definitely took advantage of the sun on the beach! The condo was renovated so nicely and we really loved the convenience of being able to make our own meals. The condo looked exactly as it did online and we truly did not want our vacation to end!! :) Thank you so much for your prompt communications and for your instructions on how to check in, etc. We did not run into any problems checking into the condo and/or checking out. The only regret that I have is that I was unable to write in the guest book due to the fact that we checked out so early in the morning on Saturday. We had to make it to our ziplining reservation in Lihue by 7:30 am so we ended up leaving the condo at around 6:30 am. I was unable to gather all of our belongings and then have enough time to write in the guest book. Thank you again for allowing us to rent the condo and we will definitely like to stay there again when we return. We loved Kauai and we both agreed that it is our favorite island!! Thanks again,

My husband and I stayed in this condo on May 24-31, 2010. I spent hours looking at sites and really DID find a super comfortable, up-dated condo in Randy's place. The remodeling job is the best---all granite counter tops and the best cabinets. The condo lacked nothing in comfort. It was on the end of the units and very quiet and always a nice breeze. The kitchen was well equipped if you are so inclined to cook on vacation---I'm not. However, we did eat breakfast in the condo. I love all the bead boarding and colors. Just a superior job in remodeling. I would go back and stay here in a minute.

The unit was everything we hoped it would be and more. The owners provided everything we could possibly need for our stay, even down to a cooler and boogie boards for the beach! It was a well maintained property and working with the owners was a breeze. The beach that is accessible from the resort is very pretty and you get to watch surfers most of the day and see an occasional monk seal too. I would highly recommend staying at this unit, the cost of the property is very reasonable in a much desired location. The resort is directly accross from the Poipu Shopping Village so any shopping (or dining) you would want to do, you can literally walk there...there is even a Starbucks! If we ever return to Kauai, we will definitely book this property again!

Randy's place is everything promised plus more. It looked great on the VRBO website, but we discovered that the pictures do not do it justice. It was so comfortable we felt like we were at home (I wish it was our home!). The location is perfect. It is just a short stroll to the beach, but it is off the beaten track enough that you have complete privacy on the lanai with no foot traffic passing by. It could not have been better. We would not only recommend it to others, but we hope to be back for another visit as soon as we can. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else in the Poipu area now that we have experienced Randy's condo. Thank you Randy for your hospitality and for making the rental process so easy. Hopefully we will be back in touch with you next year . . .

We stayed in this Condo for our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! We loved the location, only two minutes walk from the beach and the plantation grounds were beautifully maintained and cared for. The Condo was spotlessly clean, spacious and of a very high quality. The photographs looked great but the reality of the Condo was even better. The Condo contained everything we could need for a holiday from the kitchen equipment to the boogie boards and sun parasol that we used on the beach. The owner was extremely helpful, gave us lots of information about the Condo and answered all of our pre-holiday questions quickly and courteously. We would highly recommend this Condo to anyone! We enjoyed eating out at restaurants and bars in Poipu beach and around the island. We would recommend the Sheraton for happy hour Mai Tai's and gorgeous sunset views, Keoki's Paradise for cocktails, pupus, music and a buzzing atmosphere and Roy's for a special romantic meal. We would also recommend Blue Hawaiian helicopters for a trip of a lifetime around Kauai island and also kayaking to the secret waterfall for a fun and active day out. We can't wait to come back again one day - maybe for our 5th or 10th Anniversary!

To describe your condo in two words would be ‘absolutely perfect’...The Outrigger staff were courteous and very helpful, which we were extremely grateful of after such a long trip. When we got into our condo found it was modern, well ventilated, immaculately clean, and also a lot larger than we were expecting. It didn’t take us long to unpack and collapse on the bed. We both woke up very early the next day, the first thing we did was put the coffee machine on and open the patio doors and saw Hawaii in daylight for the very first time. The grounds are stunning and what made it more special was the fact we had chosen the perfect condo, from day one we knew this was going to be a great honeymoon.

Randy, can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay at your condo! It was perfect for us! The condo is beautiful and we felt right at home. It was all you said it would be. We loved being so close to the beach and to all the great restaurants nearby, especially the Beach House, Castaways and Keoki's Paradise. We golfed at several beautiful courses and drove around almost the entire island. Kauai truly is paradise! Thanks for all your help...we'll always remember this special trip.

Recommended for:Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were lucky enough to find this beautiful condo in Kiahuna Plantation and are so grateful we did! The owners have done a remarkable job remodeling the unit so that it is bright, open and airy and extremely comfortable. We found the location ideal for our family vacation and loved it so much I would like to make this an annual trip. The owners were amazing to work with and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable during our stay. We actually had to rent another room at Kiahuna for our last night in Kauai, and the difference between that unit and this one was night and day. Unit 39 was far superior in every way - we can't wait to return!

We had the pleasure of staying in unit 39 during the first week of November 2008. We were the first to stay there following completion of an extensive and complete remodel of this condo. The owners have done a fantastic job! The workmanship is excellent! We loved the granite counter tops, cabinets, tile, paint, appliances, fixtures, and furnishings. Everything was redone. The color scheme is soothing and relaxing. Having recently remodeled portions of our own home, we looked around this unit with a hyper-critical eye. We quite honestly found nothing to improve on what the owners have accomplished in this large remodel project. This immaculate unit is a marvelous place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone. The Kiahuna Plantation Resort is ideally located on Kauai. The grounds, beach, pool and locale are fantastic. Unit 39 made it extra special. We loved every minute and look forward to returning again sometime.
