  We had a wonderful time in your condo. We stayed there during the second week of our trip and wished we could have been there the entire time. The condo was clean and was nicely remodeled. The location of the condo and proximity to the beach were terrific. he beach was a 90 second walk, which we made several times each day. I thought the beach was one of the nicest in the area. I especially liked that there was a protected area on the beach that is suitable for young children. My 2-1/2 year old also really enjoyed the waterslide at the pool. We appreciated how easy it was to work with you. We also found the staff at Kiahuna Plantation to be very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay at your condo again!

  The condo was absolutely perfect - it was a phenomenal way to decompress after our incredible hike. The flexibility to cook b'fast every morning and grill fresh fish some nights was great. The bed was very comfortable, and the complex was so convenient to everything. I will be sure to write you a glowing review, but I've taken it one step further and referred my parents to your doorstep. I know you'll treat them with the same kindness and courtesy you showed me - it was a pleasure working with you and staying at your fantastic slice of paradise

  Hi Randy, We all had a wonderful time - no mishaps, no illness and wonderful weather. We loved your condo, loved the private lanai, and you had everything we needed in the kitchen. We have stayed in a number of condos at Kiahuna over the years (10 visits in 15 years we think) and it's interesting how the little things make such a difference. For example, the shelves in the shower and the kitchen counter stools were a plus. Loved the fan in the bathroom and the fact that the bedroom fan made no noise! It was very nice to have a lanai in the shade for a change. As you well know, there is plenty of sun to be had in Poipu. We will keep you in mind for our next trip!

  Yes we are home, but had such a wonderful time in your condo. We really appreciated staying there and the location was just perfect. You had it decorated so nice. Plus this is the first time we had a walk in shower. I'm just getting over a broken leg and it was so much safer for me then trying to step over a tub. Cannot think of anything that we needed that was not provided by you on the condo.

  The unit was very clean, had all amenities you would want and ample beach equipment. The renovations were as described and the unit was very comfortable. Kahuna plantation is a very nice place, plenty of lawn and right on the beach. Castle were very helpful. The daily newspaper was a nice touch.

  We enjoyed the condo very much! The ground level condo was not too far of a walk to the beach with kids. The king size bed was very comfortable. The waterslide at the pool was a big hit! The owner was very helpful in answering questions... Ground level was very helpful with kids. Would probably go for a unit with a bath next time with young children. A solid normal sized kitchen chair would have been helpful to strap the portable booster seat to for feeding the baby.

  Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  Owner response: Thanks for the suggestion of the seat for a booster chair. We intend to replace the dining room furniture this next year with chairs that would accommodate booster seats. We are sorry the shower wasn't a good fit with your kids.

  We loved this condo. As most reviewers have stated, the patio area was wonderful and private. I particularly ejoyed my pet chicken "Ruby" who would roost on my lap in the evenings while I read. (She is a small meek white chicken, so give her some treats for me!) We loved the lay out of the condo and the evening breezes that kept it cool. The plantation grounds were lovely. Being close to Starbucks and the beach was awesome!! We certainly enjoyed Kauai, especially your Condo. Thanks to you and we hope you enjoy your visit which is upcoming!!

  We spent three weeks and have been to Kiahuna a number of times in past 25 years. First time with direct to the owner and could not have been happier. Great King bed and walk in shower. Had everything we could have desired. Highly recommend this unit.

  We very much liked our unit - the unit has been beautifully upgraded. The location, being an end unit in that particular location, was very private. The Kiahuna is our favorite island destination. The only item that we found that made it "Very Good" as opposed to excellent was the bed is just a bit too hard for our taste. The owner of the unit was very helpful answering my questions prior to our trip and the description is very accurate on the VRBO website.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

  Owner response: I'm sorry you found the bed too hard for your taste. It's a relatively new bed that's supposed to be "not-hard" and "not-soft". It's very difficult to find a mattress that suits everyone so I am really sorry. It sounds like you have a great trip, though.

  We stayed for a week at end of August and found the location to be ideal. Not only was it a great jumping point for our adventures all over Kauai (up to the canyon, hiking, boating excursions to the west, and then trips to the north shore) but the location of unit #39 within Kiahuna Plantation was ideal. It is next door to laundry and front desk, away from the busy main road traffic, and a very short walk to the beach. We loved that the unit was totally updated and were glad we used VRBO b/c we knew exactly what the unit would look like when we got there and the easy of working directly with the owner before we arrived was ideal for us. It was clean, the Castle staff was frienndly and patrolled the grounds 24/7 making us feel very safe, and the Poipu sun and perfect weather was great for us. The only downside was early morning sprinklers (they went off at 4am outside our window) and the warm sleeping - there is a good breeze b/c it's an end unit and perhaps we went during the warmest week per year, but we were warm when we slept. Over all, great choice for our vacation and we would do it the same way again!

  I had a wonderful time at Kiahuna Plantation unit #39. The condo is decorated very modern and comfortable end unit with great cross breeze. Loved the extras left like boogie boards, cooler, umbrella and straw mats. Everything is well thought of. The only down side is that you need to do laundry or have towel serve because only 3 towels are available to use during my stay. Since there was me and my two teens we had the towel service ($10 a day). The location is wonderful to the beach access. I really enjoyed going to Koloa old town and the many shopping centers close to the complex. I would recommend this condo and stay here again. Randy the owner was quick to respond to questions and was very helpful. Make sure you get a car to get around on the island. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Kauai, cannot wait to return :)

  This condo was lovely! We had the good fortune to have our daughter and her friends, who work at a local high end restaurant, cook for us while we were staying here, and the facilities were excellent! We had several great meals. The condo is well equipped and well located. It is tastefully remodeled, clean and well maintained. The owner was very helpful and prompt responding to our questions prior to our arrival, and seemed genuinely concerned that our needs were met. We would recommend this property without reservations. We loved the location...close to the beaches and restaurants. We were here during the Olympics, and, being great sports fans, were able to watch all the events we wanted on the TV, but also went to Kalapaki Joe's for happy hour and to watch early season football. We drove into Gaylords at the Kilohana Plantaion for a fabulous dinner, and also attended their Luau, which was very fun. We "beach"hopped" several times, going to Mahaulepu and hiking the trail, watching surfers and weddings at Shipwreck Beach, and making it to the west coast and Polihale...which was amazing! We also enjoyed the Hanapepe Art Night on Friday night. Snorkeling at Lawai Beach by the Beach House Restaurant was excellent. Lots to so and see on the south and west sides of the island. This condo was a great home base for activities, but also a wonderful place to relax and enjoy what the Kiauhuna Plantation has to offer. We will be back for sure!

  Staying in the Poipu Beach area, and in this condo unit specifically, were great decisions! For the two of us, it was our first time to Kaua’i, so we (over)researched all the “must do’s” and the “must stay’s” in the guidebooks and sampled a great number of opinions. Both the beach location and the condo itself turned out perfectly; every time we returned from a day trip, we were happy to settle in and then walk across the street or down the beach to find wonderful food, views, massages, snorkeling, body surfing, and sunning. Poipu features numerous little bays, each with its own multiple features so it’s entirely possible to have kids frolic in one section of a totally protected bay while others snorkel in gentle swells in another section and still others take surfboard lessons on great breakers just a few hundred feet away. Some specifics: -- Our flight arrived eight hours late due to plane delays on the east coast, so we were exhausted when we arrived at Kiahuna. Check-in went smoothly and the staff was very friendly. That’s important when you’re tired, as was the fact that restaurants and the beach were just a few minutes walk away. -- The condo was immaculate and just what I wanted. There’s great ventilation in this end unit with extra windows, a very private lanai overlooking a large lawn, terrific traditional Hawaiian echoes in the architecture and interior, wind in the palm trees outside, and – very important for sleeping – a good firm bed. -- As our week passed, I became more and more appreciative of the fact that Randy’s unit did have such a private feeling. Many of the other units face out onto large lawns that other residents are always using for lounging on for traversing. That’s fine if you like being on display all the time, but I preferred the feeling of dining more quietly on the lanai. -- I’d recommend this unit very highly. And Randy made everything about the reservation very easy, quickly responding to all my questions. I’m already trying to figure dates to book again! -- Recommended restaurants: Roy's is a must for seafood! Sheraton's brunch is best value, but try the Grand Hyatt breakfast too, as well as the Koakea's next door.Koloa Seafood Market is fun for takeout poke for the lanai and go to the wine shop next door in Koloa for accompaniments. Best beach: the different Poipu bays, for sure. Loads of variety. Poipu makes the best home-base for other island explorations to Waimea, Hanalei, etc.

  I'm not a "public" person, so I don't make comments as such. However, I want to assure you personally that we found your unit quite nice and comfortable. I know Kiahuna, and I think that all of your choices for the remodel were great! The WIFI was a particular plus. We didn't mind the rather rainy weather, since it is warm rain, and we managed to do all that we wanted to do! Reading to the sound of raindrops is quite lovely :-) Thank you for offering your unit through VRBO.

  This was a our third visit to Kiahuna Plantation and we love it. If you want a great condo, on beautiful grounds, a few steps from the beach then this is THE place. The resort is well located, quiet, relaxing and kid-friendly. Unit #39 has been nicely renovated and we would definitely stay here again. It's very well located - the lanai opens directly onto the beautiful lawns and from there it's a short walk to the beach. I found Randy was very friendly and helpful to deal with. Mahalo, Randy!

  Enjoyed staying at your condo. What a beautiful condo complex and the bed was so comfortable. Your redo was beautifully done. We had some friends that stayed at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation condos and it was old and the kitchen was so small.   Hi Randy: we had a lovely time and it was so hard to leave. Even our five year old son said he wanted to stay. We loved your condo: it was a great location, halfway between the beach and the pool. We could easily walk to either. We loved the fact that it had been remodeled and updated so nicely.Your condo was well stocked with every convenience we needed, and was quite clean. The bed was super comfortable. We found all the staff on the complex friendly and helpful. Thanks for renting to us.

  We had an excellent time in Kauai and this property was a great find. The unit was clean, updated, and had everything we needed. The location of this unit was great because you had privacy yet weren't far from anything. Really appreciated the boogie boards and snorkel gear that they make available to renters! We really enjoyed pulling up a chair on the nicely manicured lawn in front of the beach and enjoying the sunset w/ a bottle of wine each night. Can't wait to go back!

  Aloha Randy. Bobbie & I truly enjoyed our 9 day stay, living in your condo in Paradise. It was our 5th anniversary, but don't let that fool you. We both lost our first mates and were fortunate to find each other. Truly a miracle. We are still experiencing that wonderful feeling of Polynesian Paralysis and we hope that it will last until we can book your beautiful condo next year. [NOTE: this is Al's second trip to our condo]

The dishwasher and oven both also worked well, just like those in our home! My kids loved the lanai that leads to the wide and spacious lawn area. Although we didn't always stayed at the Kiahuna beach, your unit was so close to parking/exit, we visited Brennecke' and Poipu beaches by car very conveniently.

  I've been visiting The Kiahuna Plantation since I was a child (my Grandparents own a condo there) and I really liked the renovation done to your unit. It is very open and great for a family get-together. Decor was lovely. It was also clean (minus some sand that had not been cleaned up on the floor & in drawers prior to our checking in). The only complaint, really, is that you can really hear people in the next building--which is out of your control ;-). We had our family reunion here, so really spent a lot of time at Kiahuna/the beach for relaxing & catching up. We went up to Kokee/Waimea Canyon for our traditional picnic lunch in the meadow & a hike. This trip we didn't make it to Hanalei side--we usually stop along the way at the Kilauea light house as well. We went to the Koloa Plantation Days in Koloa & got to see Henry Kapono perform--was great! We also frequent the shopping center across the street for shopping & eating. Ate @ Puka Dog & Roys. Also did some shopping there during their sidewalk sale. I'm from Oahu, but still enjoy getting away to another island--can really relax away from work and other responsibilities. Thank you!

If someone is on the lanai and is loud, unfortunately, the sound will carry. There are bushes and a fair amount of space between the buildings, so it's most always extremely quiet and private. I'm glad that you still enjoyed our condo, though! It is pretty special.

  The condo was clean, bright, modern and just right for a family of four vacation accommodation. Everything one needs is supplied in the condo. The condo itself is spacious, furnished well for a beach house and very comfortable. The floor to ceiling windows allow the Kauai breezes to flow through the condo keeping the temperature just right. We didn’t miss the air conditioning at all! The beautiful turquoise beach is just steps away and we had a lot of fun jumping the waves and just relaxing. We even saw sea turtles bobbing in the ocean at the beach! The condo is far enough away from the beach to afford some privacy and overlooks a large green space from the lanai. The condo is within driving distance to many amenities and restaurants and everything one needs to supply food and drink for the stay is readily available. Overall, we had a great time at the condo and thank you for opening your house to us!

  Our son planned this trip a year ago for us to celebrate our 30th Anniv. "Great intentions don't always meet Great expectations". This makes our 3rd time to Hawaii. We can both say that OUR 30th Anniv. was as Fabulous as the First time we were in Hawaii for our Honeymoon. Our Son's Great Intentions definitely met and exceeded any expectations we might have had. The Island & Weather were fantastic but the condo was truly the "Icing" on our cake as it allowed us to forget the world we left for a week. Beautifully decorated. Fresh and contemporary for today and had the feeling of the tropics. CLEAN AND MAINTAINED. Owners' photos show exactly what we received and experienced. The quiet and laid back feel of the condo allowed us to do exactly that and is exactly what we needed to get away from our family business back home in Indiana We Loved the air flow allowing the Sea breezes to filter through the condo regardless what room we were in. The condo is located in a great spot with Great convenience to the beach or outdoor activities. Yet it is walking distance to many surrounding eateries many of which can be simple or finer dining. We realized we had this wonderful kitchen but we came to RELAX and be WAITED on and so we did alot of Both. We visited quite a few local restaurants and can say honestly we never had a bad meal. The beach was spacious/clean and can't beat that soothing sound of waves that the Pacific ocean supplies, especially coming from the Midwest. We will truly miss this wonderful Island in the Harsh Midwest wintery days ahead but We have promised ourselves to return within the next 5 years. I won't forget those incredible sunsets, pounding waves and early wake up calls(6am) of the songbirds around the condo. Definitely will recommend to our friends. Thanks once again for allowing us to share your home with us during this special moment in our lives. 100% SATISFIED!

  Just returned a couple of days ago from a 7 day stay in the condo with my wife. We are in our 30's and have been to all the other Hawaiian islands except for Kauai. I have to say that I fell in love with this island. I wouldn't recommend bringing kids (take them to Oahu or Maui), but for a couple this island was perfection. I found it very, very hard to leave and still miss it. The biggest reason being the tranquility and accessibility of nature, isolation, and awesome beaches. It also helped that the condo exceeded our expectations! We arrived late at night and really didn't get a sense as to our bearings until the next morning. The quality of the condo (and the Kiahuna Plantation) exceeded our expectations. This unit in particular is one of the only we saw that had a mostly private patio. We loved the King bed since we are both very tall. Also loved the huge shower (with high shower head) and the constant, cool breeze flowing through the paneless windows. The kitchen was also high quality, although we ended up eating out most nights. Usually just walked across the street to the Poipu shopping center which has Roy's, gelato, small grocery store, and a couple of other good restaurants. The beach was great and I was able to bodyboard on the outer reef each morning. We would highly recommend this condo if staying in south Kauai. When we return to the island, the only thing that would keep us from renting it again would be if we instead get a rental house on the North Shore. In fact, we loved the condo so much, we would love the opportunity to buy one ourself.

  Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful condo with our family. We love all of the updates as well as the privacy of the lanai. The proximity to the beach is a plus as well! Thank you as well for providing the boogie boards, cooler, umbrellas and snorkeling gear! We had fantastic weather and took our annual surfing lessons with Kauai Surf School which is highly recommended. We love visiting the Poipu Shopping Village as well as the new center down the road. We did not do a lot of traveling this time and chose to just decompress on the beach and at the pool. We love Kiahuna and look forward to our next stay! Thank you again.

  What a great unit! I have stayed in several of the units at Kiahuna, and this was one the of best. It was nicely decorated, and so private. It was so great to be able to walk right to the beach. It was so close to the beach that we could use our baby monitor!!! It even had a great spot out back to play frisbee. What a great time we had! Thanks so much!

  This condo is comfortable and classy. It is really just steps away to the shore and BBQ with a view. There is no better condo complex nearby either. Owner is straight forward and easy to talk to. We splurged and feel it was totally worth it.

  Overall there's not one bad thing you can say about this condo. The kitchen supplies and cookware are top knotch and have everything you can think of. Everything in the condo is up to date. We were there on our honeymoon and are definetely looking forward to going back
