Take in the incomparable beauty and activities of Lake Michigan beach living during the day, be fascinated by a breath-taking sunset over the lake each evening then lay back to view more stars than you've ever seen.
Our modern 3700 square foot ranch is located on a dead end wooded road and has 105 feet of private sandy beach facing west on Lake Michigan.
The walk-in main level welcomes you to a cathedral ceiling great room with skylights and a mid-room floor to ceiling natural stone fireplace. You are immediately taken by the entire west wall of glass which allows you an astonishing view of the lake and 3 islands.
Views are also from the full service kitchen, formal dining room or the master bedroom with king bed and its own private walk out to the lake-side deck.
A second bedroom, full size bath with a separate shower and bath tub and a convenient laundry room that exits into the 2 car attached garage completes the main level.
The main level accesses a full length 60' deck through its 3 sliding doors where the real relaxation begins. Plan your dinner under the patio umbrella and wrought iron patio set, or stretch out on a lounge chair to watch the lake and catch some rays with a cool drink or step into the cozy screened porch to take a nap or start that good book you haven't had the time to read. Stairs on each side of the deck take you to the lower level and down to the beach.
The lower walk-out level to the beach has an additional 2 bedrooms, full bath, kitchenette, and game & entertainment room. This level also walks out onto a full length covered deck for more spectacular views of the lake or a private snooze on the hammock.
Christmas Cove is a natural sandy bay with a gradual transition into the lake for safe swimming and water sports. The miles of uninterrupted beach makes for a pleasant daily walk to find Petosky stones or enjoy the ever changing shoreline, natural dune areas and wildlife.
Daytime lake and beach activities are plentiful but the magic begins at sunset. There are no more beautiful or dramatic sunsets any place than over Lake Michigan. The sky puts on a light show of colors as the sun sets directly across the lake. As the sky slowly loses its colors it gives way to an unbelievable view of more stars than you've ever seen before. The milky way is clearly in view and if you're lucky the northern lights may dance on the northern horizon.
A magical day comes to an end with the promise of new adventures tomorrow.

Why the Owner Chose Northport
Northport and Christmas Cove was love at first sight. The magnificent view of Lake Michigan is complimented by the unmatched beauty of the Leelanau Penninsula and the activities of Grand Traverse Bay. Northport is just a few miles north of the busy tourist towns of Traverse City, Suttons Bay and Leeland/Fish Town. At the tip of the Leelanau Penninsula you experience the quieter town of Northport, its cherry and apple orchards, a top-notch marina, historic lighthouse and its State Parks and walking trails.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our fully appointed summer home sits on a private road which is bordered by woods to the east and Lake Michigan to the west.The magnificent lake view is only one of the natural wonders that fill your senses. The miles of beach to exlore takes you past woods and sand dunes and an ever changing water line. The American Bald Eagle has made a strong comeback in this area and is ofter seen along the coast as well as an abundance of other birds.
When you take a break from the sun and beach you can get plenty of shade from our screened porch or covered lower deck with its hammock and 2 seater swing. The front and side yards are beautifully landscaped and the thick lawn is a great place to play our bocci or croquet games.
After dark Christmas Cove has few outdoor lights, consequently the night sky is phenomenal with plenty of shooting stars.

Although we were born in Detroit, like most we have always been drawn to the water. Since the ocean wasn't available, we discovered a better alternative. Lake Michigan affords the same exapansive open water views and dramatic sunsets and is clean fresh water as a bonus!
We consider ourselves lucky to have found Northport and purchased our first lake front home on Christmas Cove in 1981. We raised our 3 children "up north" during their summer vacations.They were able to shake cherries, fish, sail, play ball and hunt with their local friends before they had to return home to the city.
We have found that we enjoy sharing our summer home and the Northport area with our renters.

Our family had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful and accommodating house on Christmas Cove. The property contained all of the wonderful characteristics of the perfect vacation/getaway home: an attractive stone fireplace used not only for decoration but for warming the living room; an inviting, sizeable deck for relaxing and enjoying sunsets and the sounds of the water; a gorgeous beach setting perfect for campfires, star-gazing, and roasting marshmallows; an open kitchen and dining room ideal for family entertainment; and fully-furnished bedrooms and living spaces designed for that “just like home” feeling you can’t get anywhere else. A one-week stay at this amazing vacation home allowed for one of the best vacations our family has ever had. We enjoyed the most unforgettable sunsets, ventured out on numerous walks along the beach, eased the mind searching for Petoskey stones, tasted a multitude of delicious wines, sailed (and chased after) kites like never before, enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace while relaxing with the family, and experienced an unbelievable vacation the family will never forget. Thank you so much for sharing with us your beautiful beach house - and what we like to call - a little slice of heaven : )

My family just returned from a relaxing week at this beautiful home. Magnificent stone fireplace set the scene for a cozy evening in front of the fire while listening to the waves come in. Very spacious accomodations with 3 bathrooms - much needed for our family of five - and the decor was professionly done and very charming. We would love to stay here again.

This property is absolutely fantastic: spacious and gracious, with FULLY furnished kitchen, bedrooms, and living spaces. It is pet friendly in all ways with a deck and side yard that can be secured for a dog. The owners obviously love this year-around home, gracing its exterior with beautiful gardens and its interior with lovely accents. Our family builds wonderful memories each year--walking the sandy beaches, finding GREAT Petosky stones, star-gazing at night, watching impressive meteor showers, some years being treated to displays of the Aurora Borealis and phenomenal electrical storms, being lazy when we want, being energetic when we want, playing indoor and outdoor games together, climbing sand dunes. I particularly enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, drinking good wine, preparing good food, spoiling our two grandchildren, sunrises, sunsets, eating the world's best baked goods from Barb's Bakery....We all hope to be able to enjoy this paradise at Christmas Cove for many, many years.

My husband and I, along with our three grown children, our son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and two new grand babies enjoyed a relaxing and fun-filled week in this very nice home. A gorgeous and spacious vacation home! We have stayed here for 6 years and have always had a wonderful time. The home is incredibly clean and well appointed. The kitchen is well stocked, making it easy to cook anything. The main and lower levels are huge and comfortably accommodated 7-8 women! We spent our days on the soft, sandy beach and our evenings on the expansive upper deck watching the sunset or in the beautiful screened porch. We enjoy biking to the lighthouse, shopping in nearby towns and an occasionally a trip to the Casino!! (some more than others!!) The neighborhood is quiet and secluded, perfect for adult getaways and family fun. We would definitely consider renting again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with all of us.

The cottage was immaculate, spacious & warm, The deck was the perfect romantic setting to have a glass of wine and watch the breath taking views of the sunset. Tranquil setting on quiet road. One step into the house and it takes your breath away. Gorgeous views overlooking Lake Michigan from most of the first floor. Expansive deck for watching sunsets & relaxing. We rode our bikes into town...played tennis there & enjoyed the village. Great beach for walks...or walk the quiet, winding road. We had three couples and the house was very clean & comfortable and accommodated us all very nicely. It was all that we hoped for. We would love to go back!
