  I don't usually do reviews but I have to do one for this property. The house was fantastic and our group of 9 never felt cramped. In fact, the layout allows for both privacy as well as hanging out as a group. The centre of the home is open concept from front to back with the backyard looking out onto the ocean. The bedrooms were large and accommodated everyone in our group. The pictures don't do this place justice. Included in the price is a spectacular sunset every evening. What I particularly loved about this house is that we weren't stuck in the middle of hotels. The North Shore seems much less touristy than other parts of the island but the beaches, snorkelling and surfing are spectacular. I will be back to Hawaii again, and I will definitely be booking this gorgeous home again.

  My extended family and I stayed here for 10 fantastic days in November 2012 and we loved every minute of it. The photos don't do justice too this beautifull home. The house is big enough that our party of 10 never felt crowded and we could escape to a private area if needed. The location is perfect, minutes too amazing Waimea bay and many other incredible beaches/snorkel spots not to mention the surf break directly behind the house. Children and adults were able to swim and snorkel (we saw many turtles) directly from the private beach behind the house on days that were not too wavy and on really wavy days we walked about 10 minutes down the beach to an area that was protected by a reef. There were also small tides pool that the little kids could play in every day. We are already planning to return next year!!

  We just got home from Oahu. Not much more I can say about this home. See all the reviews below, EVERYONE Raves and gives it 5 STARS for a reason. It was perfect. Very large home, spacious with tons of room and had everything we needed. It is about 5 minutes from Haleiwa, a small really cool north shore town that has everything you need. My only suggestion for the home would be to add a crockpot for cooking. The last thing I wanted to do was turn on the oven, too hot and humid already. We did bbq a couple of times and the kitchen was well equipped. The home has no a/c and it was hot, but you do get used to it and with the windows open and fans going. After a couple of days it is not a problem. Let me say the BEDS, OMG the BEDS were so comfortable. I have already asked the owner on where to find them. We had the best nights sleep ever. Being on vacation and to get a better nights sleep than your own bed at home must say something... The beach is right there and having your own private secluded beach was awesome. Perfect for children. Very safe to play in the water and not worry about them, yet my husband was able to go right out the back door and surf while the kids played. This is the perfect beach, but would be hard for a handicap person to access the beach only, Anyone else, would be easy for. We loved our stay at vrbo 172179. I would go back in a heartbeat. The rules of the house seemed a little intimidating at first, but they are really easy to follow and were not a problem at all. The home does have an alarm and must be secured before you leave. I did not like the process of having to lock up each time we went to the store, out to dinner or to explore the island, Closing up made the house hot when we got back, but the flip side was that everything was secure and I did not worry about the cameras, laptop's or i-phones while we were out. So for the inconvience it is, it was worth it. I also liked the "gated" circle driveway. Made home feel safe and secure too. Mr Gray was very helpful and really did his best to make sure we had everything we needed or asked for. Not much else I can say. For the price you pay, you really get your moneys worth. You cannot rent hotel rooms on the Island for the price of this home. With all the extras hotels charge you this for sure the best bang for you buck. We had 7 people, and could have easily had 5 or more, it is that big..Hope this review helps you in your decision in renting this home. Amie

  This is a good beach house in a great location. The home is an open plan and was wonderful for entertaining and having everyone hang out together without being crowded. The kitchen was well supplied and the beds were very comfortable (a big plus). We loved the security of the home. You have a gated circle driveway in front of the home. The back yard has a fenced in area plus sea wall for privacy and the home has a security system. The empty lot next door also made us feel we were on our own little piece of the island. There were only a few negatives. The home does not have AC which was not a problem with the wonderful trade winds coming thru the home. But one of the bedrooms did not have a screen on the sliding door and that made for very hot, uncomfortable sleeping. Another room had a cheap screen with velcro closure that kept blowing open. The dishwasher never worked while we were there. There were kayaks but no paddles. We were told they were for the owners use only (disappointing). The sea wall obstructed your view of the ocean/shore and that was also disappointing. However we spent most of the time down by the water. Overall we loved the house, especially the location. You are just down the road to restaurants and shopping in Halewia on one side and Waimea Bay, Sharks Cove, Foodland and Starbucks on the other side. We would definitely stay in the house again but would hope the screens and dishwasher would not be a problem. We swam with sea turtles and even saw a group of whales from our back yard. Awesome.

  Our daughter had her big fat wedding at Turtle Bay Resort but we wanted to stay away from the fray as my husband was just recovering from a long illness. What a perfect find this was! Close to town (Haleiwa), the wedding venue, and civilization (Honolulu) for all types of activities. Lots of room for our big family, and still lots of room to get away from everybody else in the house. We spent most of our getaway time having breakfast in the yard looking out on the ocean, soaking up the sun in our outdoor bathtub (a big tidepool on the private beach), or just sitting in the den and watching the sunset. At night, we sat in the lawn chairs studying the stars and we went to bed lulled by the sound of the waves and cooled by the ocean breeze. When we wanted to connect to the outside world, cable TV and internet connection were always available. We hated to leave after one week as rainbows bid us goodbye. But with such great service from both owner and caretaker, we will definitely be back. Mahalo nui loa.

  A huge "mahalo" for sharing your wonderful home with us. Your house was the perfect fit for our family and we enjoyed every moment of our holiday. The turtles performed to perfection and came in every afternoon to share our squid. My family explored the beach daily, swam out to alligator point, snorkled morning and evening and roamed the island of Oahu at our leisure. I have already recommended your lovely home to two families and have shared your listing on VRBO.....thank you, thank you, for a beautiful lifetime memory; my children, and grandchildren will never forget Haleiwa!

  I took my family (11 of us) for a vacation to Oahu. My wife and I had been to Waikiki several times but had never stayed on the North Shore. Needless to say, it was the best vacation my family has ever had. We had a minor problem and the owner drove out from the "city" to help us with. The million dollar view and refreshing tropical breeze made for a wonderful experience. Upon leaving my grandkids said, "paw paw when are we coming back to "our" house again". One word sums is up for us, "GREAT"!!!!

  This house is great. 5 adults and 4 kids were in our party. The layout of the bedrooms and common area couldn't have been better. It never felt crowded. The location was perfect. On walks down the beach we could appreciate how lucky we were to be staying at this home. The privacy afforded by the empty space to the northeast is unique on the beach. The two youngest kids played on that land for hours, fulfilling their dream to hang out in a "jungle". They even found a vine to swing from. The surf was unusually high the first couple of days.but it did calm down. We had plenty of opportunity to snorkel out front. I kept checking magicseaweed.com for the surf and tide reports so we knew when the surf would be lowest. Great website. We weren't disappointed and had many close encounters with the amazing Honu. They are magical! My older son swam out to the end of the rock jetty to the northeast and came across a what he called a "turtle party". There were 5 or 6 swimming right there. We can't wait to stay at this house again. It was the perfect vacation. In fact, we did spend one day driving around a little. We got to Lanikai Beach (beautiful but too windy that day) and Huanama Bay (that was disappointing). All of this to say that we couldn't wait to get back to our house at Turtle Cove. The laid back atmosphere of the North Shore was exactly what we wanted. We wouldn't stay anywhere else on Oahu. The owner and his caretaker were so helpful and responsive. Bill gave us tips for alternate snorkeling and beach spots when the surf was running high at Turtle Cove. We did make it Maleakahana Beach, about 20 min. away to the northeast. It was practically deserted! Got in some good body surfing. We also loved Shark's Cove, just up the hwy, across from the FoodLand. It was great for novice snorkelers and the more experienced. One day we also walked northeast up the coast from all the way to Waimea Bay. That was a good workout since most of it was a rock scramble. The view of the bay was awesome. One more thing, the Haleiwa Farmer's Market is excellent! It's open on Sundays from 9 - 1pm (maybe Sat. too) On Kameameaha Hwy, between Haleiwa town and the Turtle Cove House. Fabulous local artisans selling amazing handmade jewelry and great produce and the best fresh fish you'll ever taste. They sell Magic Tropical Dressing w/ginger, pineapple and macadamia. AMAZING! Great on fish or salads w/papaya and mac nuts. Bought 3 to take home.

  Our group of 12 which included our family, my mother and a sister in law stayed here and loved it. It was big enough for all of us to feel like we had our our space and privacy, but still had the room for us all to be together when we wanted. We loved being able to open the gate and go down to the beach for our walks. The gate and wall are great to keep little kids away from the ocean - a feature we truly loved. We loved being able to sit in the family room and see the waves and also hearing the waves crash against the wall at night. The kitchen was well stocked even for a large group such as ours. For having houses all around, you don't see or hear much from other residents. This area was quiet and so removed from Honolulu and Waikiki and we loved it. Because it was winter the water came a bit higher than normal,but we had no problem just walking down the beach a bit to swim. Sea turtles came up on the shore to rest and one day, even a sea lion came up on the sand. We found several coves close to go snorkeling which weren't crowded at all - Turtle Cay Cove and Sharks Cove. They were all great for those learning to snorkel or just wanted to swim. We would love to return someday - so much better than staying in a condo or hotel. Our last day after leaving we went to Ka Olina. A great way to end our vacation.
