A huge "mahalo" for sharing your wonderful home with us. Your house was the perfect fit for our family and we enjoyed every moment of our holiday. The turtles performed to perfection and came in every afternoon to share our squid. My family explored the beach daily, swam out to alligator point, snorkled morning and evening and roamed the island of Oahu at our leisure. I have already recommended your lovely home to two families and have shared your listing on VRBO.....thank you, thank you, for a beautiful lifetime memory; my children, and grandchildren will never forget Haleiwa!

"Our" Piece of Paradise

Guest: Corvette (Virginia Beach, VA)
Date of Stay: 06/20/10 Review Submitted: 07/14/11

I took my family (11 of us) for a vacation to Oahu. My wife and I had been to Waikiki several times but had never stayed on the North Shore. Needless to say, it was the best vacation my family has ever had. We had a minor problem and the owner drove out from the "city" to help us with. The million dollar view and refreshing tropical breeze made for a wonderful experience. Upon leaving my grandkids said, "paw paw when are we coming back to "our" house again". One word sums is up for us, "GREAT"!!!!

Amazing House right on the beach!

Guest: Sue (Medford, OR)
Date of Stay: 03/20/11 Review Submitted: 04/14/11

This house is great. 5 adults and 4 kids were in our party. The layout of the bedrooms and common area couldn't have been better. It never felt crowded. The location was perfect. On walks down the beach we could appreciate how lucky we were to be staying at this home. The privacy afforded by the empty space to the northeast is unique on the beach. The two youngest kids played on that land for hours, fulfilling their dream to hang out in a "jungle". They even found a vine to swing from. The surf was unusually high the first couple of days.but it did calm down. We had plenty of opportunity to snorkel out front. I kept checking magicseaweed.com for the surf and tide reports so we knew when the surf would be lowest. Great website. We weren't disappointed and had many close encounters with the amazing Honu. They are magical! My older son swam out to the end of the rock jetty to the northeast and came across a what he called a "turtle party". There were 5 or 6 swimming right there. We can't wait to stay at this house again. It was the perfect vacation. In fact, we did spend one day driving around a little. We got to Lanikai Beach (beautiful but too windy that day) and Huanama Bay (that was disappointing). All of this to say that we couldn't wait to get back to our house at Turtle Cove. The laid back atmosphere of the North Shore was exactly what we wanted. We wouldn't stay anywhere else on Oahu. The owner and his caretaker were so helpful and responsive. Bill gave us tips for alternate snorkeling and beach spots when the surf was running high at Turtle Cove. We did make it Maleakahana Beach, about 20 min. away to the northeast. It was practically deserted! Got in some good body surfing. We also loved Shark's Cove, just up the hwy, across from the FoodLand. It was great for novice snorkelers and the more experienced. One day we also walked northeast up the coast from all the way to Waimea Bay. That was a good workout since most of it was a rock scramble. The view of the bay was awesome. One more thing, the Haleiwa Farmer's Market is excellent! It's open on Sundays from 9 - 1pm (maybe Sat. too) On Kameameaha Hwy, between Haleiwa town and the Turtle Cove House. Fabulous local artisans selling amazing handmade jewelry and great produce and the best fresh fish you'll ever taste. They sell Magic Tropical Dressing w/ginger, pineapple and macadamia. AMAZING! Great on fish or salads w/papaya and mac nuts. Bought 3 to take home.

Great Place for a Bigger Group

Guest: Wish I lived here (Layton, UT)
Date of Stay: 12/04/10 Review Submitted: 12/28/10

Our group of 12 which included our family, my mother and a sister in law stayed here and loved it. It was big enough for all of us to feel like we had our our space and privacy, but still had the room for us all to be together when we wanted. We loved being able to open the gate and go down to the beach for our walks. The gate and wall are great to keep little kids away from the ocean - a feature we truly loved. We loved being able to sit in the family room and see the waves and also hearing the waves crash against the wall at night. The kitchen was well stocked even for a large group such as ours. For having houses all around, you don't see or hear much from other residents. This area was quiet and so removed from Honolulu and Waikiki and we loved it. Because it was winter the water came a bit higher than normal, but we had no problem just walking down the beach a bit to swim. Sea turtles came up on the shore to rest and one day, even a sea lion came up on the sand. We found several coves close to go snorkeling which weren't crowded at all - Turtle Cay Cove and Sharks Cove. They were all great for those learning to snorkel or just wanted to swim. We would love to return someday - so much better than staying in a condo or hotel. Our last day after leaving we went to Ka Olina. A great way to end our vacation.

Have great day from Australia

Guest: Bill (Australia)
Date of Stay: 09/19/10 Review Submitted: 10/08/10

Wow what a fantastic place you had for us to stay in, as for the 2 families of 4 your house suited us down to the ground. With short walks to Waimea Bay & Starbucks for a coffee. As for shopping Foodland was great once we were members(first shop), Costco was too far away plus we got a reputation as raving alcoholics after we walked out with 2 trolleys full with very little food. a short drive to Haleiwa for a surf with the kids (or Chuns), margarita's at sunset under the palms before a nice BBQ, beer & red wine, we just lapped it up. After staying here Waikiki was pretty sad. The whole families swam with turtles in the wave pools, one would wave at me every morning when i got up just off the shore in the rip. The locals where friendly pretty helpful, not to happy when you drive on the wrong side of the road on country lanes (Ha ha ha we're back home now & we are still putting the wipers on to go round corners.) The shark adventures tour was great for all, seemed to give the kids a lot of confidence in the water after, (makes a great DVD). We all have lots of adventures, snorkelling, surfing, waterfalls, jumping off the rainbow bridge dodging beginner SUP boarders, shopping for the girls, Pearl harbour, even the sprinklers would join the fun at 9 o'clock till we changed them. Thanks very much & have a great day from Australia. Regards Bill Annita Bruce Debbie Tiffany Taylah Lincoln & Courtney.

A Great Vacation Home

Guest: Adam (San Diego, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/24/10

Truly an amazing vacation rental. When you first walk into this spectacular home, your breath is literally taken away by the gorgeous view of the beach and ocean. Surrounded by tidepools and small beaches perfect for small children as well as access to 3 great breaks perfect for surfing or stand-up. A 30 second drive to the best beach on the island, Waimea Bay, and a 5 minute drive to Shark's Cove, much better than Hanama Bay. Continue past to explore small towns with great local restaurants, like Ted's Bakery at Sunset Beach (get the plate lunch and pie!) and hit the shrimp trucks for a real feast. Or head west to Kaena Point for dramatic mountain and ocean scenery. Though about an hour drive to Honolulu / Waikiki, be sure to hit Aloha Statium for a fun swap meet experience (pick up some "Hawaii Fashion" brand hoodies (great quality), unique hats, cheap sunglasses, and plenty of other goodies), Ala Moana Beach Park, and the upgraded Ala Moana mall for more serious shopping. The owner and local representative went out of their way to make sure our stay was first class. We had 9 family members in the home, but the home is so large that we all had plenty of privacy. The oversized couches easily could have slept 4 more. This place is clean, big, well maintained, and fairly modern. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. The local markets have all you need at close to mainland prices, amazingly. I would gladly go back to this home for my next vacation and would definitely consider other properties maintained by this management team.

Great time for our whole family

Guest: Mr. Newport (Newport Beach California)
Date of Stay: 06/10/10 Review Submitted: 08/20/10

Thank you so much for setting us up with this home. We had a blast and the kids loved exploring the tide pools and snorkeling in front of the house. It got a little warm in the afternoon due to the summer, but really cooled off in the evenings. It was very nice having no neighboor to the east. We loved all the turtles and now we know where you got the name Turtle Cove. We would definately come back and recomend this house for families and privacy.
