The Unique Benefits of this House
Westview is an incredibly comfortable place to live. The views of the freighters as they exit the Rock Cut, the sunsets, and the wildlife are amazing. Neebish Island is centrally located in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so there are many opportunities for day-trips to unique locations - the Soo Locks, Tahquammenon Falls, Mackinac Island, Whitefish Point and the Shipwreck Museum, Pictured Rocks in Munising, etc. The water of the St. Marys River is clean and gorgeous. We feel that Westview provides the perfect vacation experience.

Once again we experienced a wonderful week here at Westview! We had great weather and didn't mind a little rain! The view is beautiful and the ships plentiful. We even got Dad down to have a campfire. Zoe thoroughly enjoyed the water and was able to play for hours in the yard. We love the well stocked kitchen and had everything we could have possibly needed. We even did a little baking this week! We were delighted to get back to Neebish for our second time and hope to make next year our 3rd! Thanks for everything,

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful "dream" home. We truly enjoyed ourselves. We relaxed, walked and ate way too much! The scenery is wonderful and watching the huge ships go by is certainly an image we do not get in the state of Missouri. We watched the birds and fed them every morning. They sure do like to eat! We may give you a call in the future to rent your home again. It is nice to "get away from it all" and just slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay at Westview! We had no idea what to expect and were thrilled to see your accommodations! From our first ride on the ferry, we found the residents here helpful and friendly. We felt very welcome wherever we went, and especially at your Neebish Church. We love your home and its location on the St. Mary's River. We love the beauty of the water and especially at sunset and when the freighters go past. We told our children it was like finding a little piece of eaven here on earth! The beauty of God's creation and His peace and serenity were with us these whole 10 days! We will leave tomorrow with regrets that we couldn't stay longer, but our hearts are full of memories that will last a lifetime!

We had a lovely stay at Westview. Neebish Island is an interesting place, unlike anywhere we have stayed before. I think it would be a nice place to stay for a month or so just to be able to slow down the pace a bit and enjoy nature. We enjoyed the Soo Locks Boat Tour, Mackinac Island, Oswalds Bear Ranch and Tahquamannon Falls. Friday was such a nice day. We relaxed on the deck, took a long walk and enjoyed the wind from he river. The sunsets were spectacular and we were able to catch some great photos. The accommodations were great, as I expected, from the reviews. You do have a beautiful house here that had everything we needed for our stay here. Thank you for having so much info for us to review about restaurants, places to visit, about the island the the photos of the building of Westview. Thanks again!

We just returned from our vacation on Neebish Island. When we left this beautiful vacation home it was like saying goodbye to a dear friend. It was everything we had hoped it would be and so much more. My father in his 80’s with limited mobility stated, “It was the most relaxing and unique vacation he had ever been on”. The view towards the river from Westview’s living and dining rooms were spectacular. Framed by more than 30’ of windows the freighters came to life like a moving canvas. Even our spoiled beagle Zoe stopped to look as these giant ships gliding past as they raised hardly a ripple on the chalky blue surface of the water. The evenings ushered in several crystal clear nights’ drawing our gaze to the deck where above stars lost to our urban lights shined magnificently in the rich black sky. We have traveled extensively in resort homes such as Westview, but none compared to the accommodations Steve and Anne provided us on Neebish Island. Every aspect was like a first class ride giving us the time to relax from crazy schedules and to bond more as a family. This may be my father’s last trip with us. Memories of him thoroughly enjoying himself at Westview will stay with me long after he is gone. I am so very grateful to the Earl’s for opening up this beautiful home on an island that seems reluctant to give up its natural identity or to wind up a clock. We will be back.
Owner response:Thank you Rick for such a lovely review. We enjoyed meeting you family, and pray that the upcoming year is one of joy, not sorrow. We will look forward to staying in touch. Blessings!

We had such a wonderful stay at Westview on Neebish Island. Such a beautiful home and we did feel right at home. The owners are very accommodating, friendly, very willing to answer any questions you may have and available if you need anything. We so enjoyed watching the freighters on there voyage down river (Westview on Neebish Island is on the St Mary's River which connects Lake Superior & Lake Huron) and the sunsets were fantastic. We were there over the 4th of July and the campground on the island had a pig roast which we attended. The food was fabulous and the people of the island are so friendly. We also got to visit with many of the islanders while waiting for the ferry. There is so much to do & see in the UP and lower Michigan and Westview was centrally located to the places we wanted to go for our day trips. We spent time on Lake Superior, Lake Huron & Lake Michigan. If you like lighthouses, they are abundant on all three lakes. Mackinaw Bridge, Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls & the Soo Locks are a must see and are an easy day trip from Westview. We usually left the island on the 10:00AM ferry and came back on the 8:00PM ferry and didn't feel rushed on our outings. We would definately recommend staying at Westview and enjoyed everything the island and the area had to offer. We hope to get back to the area in the near future.

Outstanding!!! First of all the owners are top notch people and the home is wonderful. If you are looking for a "get a wat from the hustle and bustle" vacation- NEEBISH is for you. We went to Neebish for an adventure and got it all. If you want a good community of poeple Neebish has it; don't want to see anyone- Neebish can provide. The UP is wonderful from the Locks to Whitefish Point and Mackanac Island you are very close at Neebish. The home was very nice and well worth the cost. The beds were great and the Mermaid on the wall was beautifully done. The views of the frieghters were awesome! I think we saw at least 15 different ship at different hours of the day and night from smaller 650' to over 1000'. It was incredible. There are two ites that I didn't like= the ferry and the skeeters!!! The ferry only runs at certain times so you have to limit and plan your days around that and the skeeters are huge and bloodthirsty!!!! Bring bug spray!!!! Other than that you ahve an island almost to yourself. We rode bikes and didn't see a car. Fishing from te dock and walking with the family were all great things we did. We loved Neebish and hope you do too. I feel like we went on vacation got a great place to stay and made new friebds with the owners...what a trip and memories!!!! ""Uncle" Eric

Westview is completely as advertised! If you are seeking a quiet, laidback vacation, this is the place. The Great Lakes Freighter watching is second to none here and a huge highlight of the place. If you are worried about staying connected to the world, the Satellite TV and 46 inch screen will woo those worries; the kids will love it too, just remember where the OFF switch is! The home owners are nearby and they are fabulous people!!!
