Relax while enjoying the sunset over the picturesque Kiawah River from the deck of our Inlet Cove Cottage. Ten miles of pristine beach are just 400 yards away. The difference is in the details; recent totally renovation, beautiful décor, interesting art, great entertainment options, well-appointed gourmet kitchen, high speed wireless access, exceptional river views from the screened in porch and both decks.
Our cottage has been completely renovated. It received the highest rating possible – Platinum – which is earned by less than 5% of the properties on the Island. The bathrooms and kitchen were completely modeled withand all new furniture and bedding.
It boasts an ideal central location near the best private community pool on the island (with a kiddie pool too) and bath house along with a magnificent dock on the river where you can fish, catch crabs, boat or kayak. A short walk (or you may prefer to bike) along a tree-covered leisure trail takes you to the West Beach Village (with an ice cream shop, casual dining, an arcade, shopping), a General Store or the beach.
We have a convenient front desk location in Freshfield Village as you enter Kiawah Island making check-in and key pick up fast and easy. Should any problems arise during your stay, the cottage comes with an on-site property manager. In the event of an emergency, they can be reached twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
A wide open floor plan - starts with the gourmet kitchen that flows into the dining area and living room, complete with fireplace. This is a great place to gather after a wonderful day at the pool, beach, golfing, kayaking or playing tennis. The desk has plenty of room to spread out and to access the Internet through a high speed WiFi connection. The living room opens up to a large screened-in porch with a patio table and chairs – grab a drink to watch the fabulous sunset over the Kiawah River.
You can also enjoy the river views from the lower deck while BBQ’ing on a Vermont Castings grill or just relax in one of the rocking chairs or hammock. You might catch dolphins playing or feeding in the river.
Each bedroom features new furniture and mattresses, TV and DVD player. The master bedroom has a king size bed and adjacent full bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and shares a full bathroom with the third bedroom which comes with two twin beds. The living area also has a new 42” HD flat screen TV over the fireplace and the compact CD player is IPod compatible.
It will be hard to find another cottage that has as much – the view, the comfort and all the amenities – so come join us at Kiawah!
No pets and no smoking, please.
Kiawah is a paradise for children. It’s nestled within 10,000 acres of maritime forests and tidal marshes and is one of the East Coast’s most secluded stretches of beach. Nature is Kiawah’s most alluring asset. Enjoy an abundance of things to do, including 30 miles of paved biking and hiking trails that wind through parks and nature preserves. The 10 miles of beach, the Nature Center, Night Heron Park with its basketball and soccer fields are all close by. At night, chase crabs on the beach or look for shooting stars. Kayak, swim, boogie board, build sand castles, hunt for star fish and sand dollars or go for a bike ride on the beach at sunrise.
Other Amenities:
When we come to the Island we like to bring as little as possible and that’s why we’ve made sure that just about everything you need (except food, clothing & beach towels) is ready and waiting. The kitchen is a gourmet cook’s dream and comes with dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker, dishes, silverware, pots & pans, all new appliances and many extras (including a blender and margarita glasses). All bedroom and bath linens are provided as well as a washer & dryer so you don’t need to bring clothes for a week. The cottage also is stocked at the beginning of the year with boogie boards, beach chairs, beach toys, booster seat with shoulder straps, a pack-n-play and a beach cart that makes getting everything you need to the beach easier. Bicycles, inline skates and kayaks can be rented right on the island. So travel light and take advantage of everything that is waiting for you at the cottage.
Activities:
Kiawah is truly a private paradise with over 10 miles of golden beaches, over 30 miles of leisure paths thru maritime forests, unsurpassed river, ocean and marsh views and a beach that can be enjoyed at any time of the day.
If golf and tennis are your passion, you’ve come to the perfect vacation spot – Kiawah’s 5 golf courses were designed by Nicklaus, Dye, Fazio, Johnston and Player. The famous Ocean Course was Host to the 2007 Senior PGA Championship and is planning for the 2012 PGA Championship. Tennis magazine has rated Kiawah the #1 Greatest US Tennis Resort. Both clay and hard courts are available.
Some of the best red fish and flounder fishing spots await you at Kiawah. The best fishing pond on the Island is only steps from our cottage. The Kiawah River is a great place to kayak so bring your own or rent one while you are here.
The island has over 15 dining options (grocery delivery too) and many places to shop. But if you want more, Charleston, with its southern charm, plantations and history, is only 20 miles away. Why the Owner Chose Inlet Cove
Kiawah is like no other place we've ever visited. It has a unique feel and we love the "low country" pace. We go everywhere by bicycle and typically don't leave the island once we've arrived.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We have created some wonderful family memories on Kiawah. Our girls learned to ride bicycles, kayak and hunt for wildlife on Kiawah…and they also developed a love for ice cream as the shop is just a short bike ride away. Each season offers something different and our family was surprised to find out that we enjoyed the fall and winter months as much as we do spring and summer. No matter when you plan on visiting, we know you will fall in love with Kiawah Head too – Rob & Candy
Owner's Map of Inlet Cove
We’ve always gravitated to the water…especially the ocean. We even got married in the Florida Keys on a sailboat as the sun was setting. It’s seems to have always been that way. My wife grew up on the South Shore of Long Island and spent her free time at the beach on Fire Island. I have lived a good deal of my life on an island in Florida. We are currently landlocked in Winston Salem NC and this cottage gives us a way to get back to the beach more often.

My family (husband, daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters) and I just returned from a wonderful week at the Lockwood's charming cottage in Inlet Cove. Everything was just as described. The cottage is well-maintained and decorated beautifully. It was very comfortable and fairly well stocked. The cottage is well situated to walk to the beach or the pool. We loved having Freshfields close by and made several trips there during the week. Had a wonderful meal at Chez Fish on John's Island. The check-in and check-out process through Resort Quest couldn't have been easier. I would highly recommend this property. We all can't wait to go back.

We enjoyed two fabulous weeks at the Lockwood's beautiful cottage on Kiawah over the last week of August and first week of September. The cottage and its amenities are first class, and it is a more than welcoming retreat! We vacationed with our twin toddlers, mother, and mother-in-law - and by the time we pulled out of the driveway to head back home, we honestly felt like we were leaving home. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for first-class accommodations and a home-away- from home while on vacation. And the location is so convenient to the beach, the pool, Freshfield's, and it even shortens the drive into Charleston (versus staying in farther on the island!). Thank you so much for opening your home to our family!

I wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you what a wonderful cottage you have in Kiawah! Everything was fantastic - from your booking procedure, to check-in at Resort Quest and all the way through the week. The cottage was just perfect - clean, comfortable and complete with all the amenities we could have wanted. We had a great time. We have stayed in Inlet Cove and Sparrow Pond the last several years, and without hesitation I can say that your cottage itself and its location in Inlet Cove was superior to anything we've found thus far. We hope to be back next year! Thanks again for a great week. BHF

We stayed in June 2009 and found the cottage to be first class. This was our sixth visit to the island but the first time staying in Inlet Cove. The accommodations were among the best we stayed in during our many visits to Kiawah. The cottage is well equipped and furnished nicely. The unit was very, very clean and well maintained. The unit is large and is plenty spacious for families. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook. The location is great and the views are spectacular. We liked having the gas grill for meals. We loved the Kiawah River view and had a change to kayak several times and saw dolphins on one of our kayak trips. The community pool was great and never crowded. Be sure to go to the community dock for spectacular sunsets.

This beautiful, spotless home was a perfect vacation rental for our family of five (kids aged 4, 6 and 9). We loved looking out over the trees and river from the screened porch at breakfast and dinner, and cooked many delicious meals in the gourmet kitchen. The kids loved their rooms, and the master bedroom/bath was luxurious and comfortable. We all loved the convenience of being close to the river and the beach, but still enjoying the quiet, relaxed part of the island. The sunsets from the dock were lovely (complete with dolphins), as was stargazing on the beach. The grocery store in Fresh Fields Village only a short drive away had everything we needed for a terrific week on Kiawah. Wireless internet (note: open connection, not password protected) worked without a hitch. Bikes ordered ahead of time were waiting for us when we arrived. Not a single glitch in this vacation! (One very rainy day ended up giving us a great trip to Charleston aquarium) This was a beautiful home away from home. We can't wait to come back!

We have just returned from two spectacular weeks on Kiawah Island and want to thank the Lockwood's for the pleasure of renting their fabulous cottage to us. Inviting, clean, quiet, and very comfortble. You really do think of everything to make newcomers feel welcome (we loved your walking directions to the beach)! We waited out cool temperatures by many excursions into Charleston (we were able to make the trip in about 35 minutes) and even down to Beaufort. And when temps warmed, we walked the beach and enjoyed all that it offers. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. Hope to be back someday soon. Sandy Morgan

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lockwoods' cottage. Recently renovated, it offered everything we needed to entertain our family, from a fully-stocked kitchen, to a beautiful setting convenient to the beach and nearby shopping. I especially enjoyed reading in the hammock on the back porch, watching the kayaks drift by at sunset. Also, I can't say enough about the Lockwoods' hospitality. We felt right at home. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a first class beach get-away.

This was our first time to Kiawah Island and the trip exceeded our expectations. This property was exceptional. The cottage was so bright(loved the color schemes)and airy and the decorating was fabulous. It was very comfortable and had all the amenities you could ask for. The flat screen TV's in each bedroom and living area were a treat for us! The screened in porch was great - especially on a rainy day. We played cards and other games and listened to the rain. The deck in the back was great to hang out on with the hammock and rocking chairs. The pool and ocean were convenient. The pool was so inviting on a hot day. We really enjoyed the warmth of the ocean water at this time of year. We enjoyed riding bikes around the island and stopping off for ice cream at Scoopers! We had dinner one night at the Ocean Course Clubhouse Bar and sat outside on the patio. The view was spectacular - we would recommend this. (You need to call ahead so that you can pass through the gate to this part of the island). We spent a day in Charleston, a short drive, and loved this city! Kiawah was a great vacation for us!

My family and I stayed at this property during the week of June 7, 2008. The cottage, the location, the views and the amenties exceeded our wildest expectations. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated and it was evident that everything was new and recently renovated. I felt like I was walking into a new house - everything was shiny and clean. The kitchen must have been outfitted by a gourmet cook - there were gadgets and utensils I don't have at home! We used the pack-n-play playpen and the booster seat provided by the cottage owners for our youngest. This was very convenient. The location of the cottage was ideal. We could walk to the pool in under 5 minutes and could reach the beach by bicycle in less time than that. The pool was a surprise with a wonderful dock to fish or watch the sunset, which we did many nights. The cottage also came equipped with a large cooler, beach cart, sand chairs, sand toys and boogie boards. We didn't have to pack that stuff and the beach cart made it easy to wheel everything to the beach. There was a little outdoor shower to wash off the sand. The view of the Kiawah River was spectacular from the screened porch, upper deck and lower decks. We saw dolphin in the river three times during our stay, which was a real treat for everyone. We visited the West Beach Straw Market for ice cream at Scoopers and for lunch at Shrimpers. Freshfields was convenient for groceries, restaurants, shopping and entertainment. It was a lovely vacation and one we will definitely do again.

My husband, 2 teenaged sons and 70 year old parents stayed in this house over the 4th of July weekend. The house was a comfortable walking distance from the pool, dock (you can fish without a license from the dock) and ocean for all of us. The beach is very wide at low tide and there didn't seem to be much of a shelf or undertoe when we were there. We found lots of sea life -- horseshoe crabs, jelly fish, conch with the slugs still in the shell and sand dollars. My boys loved biking around the island on longer adventures. You are also a 45 minute to 1 hour drive to Charleston. We spent Tuesday and Thursday there touring Ft Sumter and taking in a Charleston Riverdogs minor league baseball game (the fireworks were awesome) and the other visit included the aquarium, the outdoor market and lunch at Hyman's (a must if you are in Charleston). For those of you who have booked for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I can tell you that the kitchen is fully equipped with higher end cookwear and big enough for 2 to comfortable work on a meal. My brother and his 2 girls were staying elsewhere on the island and we had no problem serving 9 for dinner. We had 6 in the dining room and 3 on the screened porch. Also, Newton's grocery in Freshfields Village had anything and everything you could want. My father is both diabetic and gluton intolerant and we found all the foods we needed for his meals also. The house is clean, well decorated and the rental company is willing to assist you with all your needs. My only advise for summer travelers is to take them at their work that Saturday at 4pm is the busiest check in time. My advise is to come early, check in and return at 4pm for your key. There is a separate ... shorter... line for that, or wait until 5pm or some to try to check in. Other than that, my family had a wonderful, relaxing week at the beach.
