A Perfect Vacation

My wife and I just had a perfect vacation at CPM. CPM is immaculate and amply stocked, the beach receives TLC, the water sublime, the bay beautiful, sea breezes wafting ..... Soliman Bay is a special place, isolated by a mangrove swamp, one road in and out, it is in a pristine state and wonderful for snorkeling and kayaking. The marine life is healthy in the bay. The sunrises are spectacular and the stars are breathtaking. Within minutes of CPM there are restaurants, Mayan ruins, more beaches, Mayan villages, cenotes, shopping ..... This is a place to relax, breath deeply and enjoy life.... Take a chance and plan a visit to CPM. The owner is a first edition.

Our large family of 8 adults and 7 children 12 and under stayed here mid June of 2011.It was a perfect place to meet up ,relax and enjoy the atmosphere.The house was perfect,plenty of room for sleeping and gathering.The location was great for the children as the beach was clean and the waters safe.The children kayaked had their first snorkel experiences and had hermit crab races..(very exciting!)The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook nightly.Pedro , Lydia and their daughter were welcoming and helpful.We were all very relaxed and just had a great time catching up in an amazing spot. We hope we will be able to do this every year..thanks Bill for your lovely spot.

i have just returned from my 8th visit to bill's piece of paradise. bill never stops improving casa playa maya with such attention to detail. i can only hope that others can experience the comfort, peace and serenity of this heaven on earth. i might add that i'm disabled and wheelchair bound. bill has always provided a helpful, accomodating compassionate atmosphere. casa playa maya has become a handicap friendly resort and i thank bill so much.

The bay is heavenly and thats just above water! Under water, the snorkelling is amazing. Loads of brightly coloured marine life, rays and turtles dancing and shimmering in the warm water and hanging out in the near private 600 yard reef complete with some great coral. The house is hand built and decorated eclectically yet thoughtfully. This is authentic cool not veneered chic - its imperfections adding to its perfection. Lydia the maid doubles as gastronomic miracle worker if you like authentic Mexican food. And if you like fresh seafood, walk 10 minutes up the bay to the deservedly famous beach shack that serves the best ceviche and fresh seafood we came across in the area. This is a peaceful enclave with no pass through tourism but If you need excitement or scarlet red tourist crowds, the main attractions are a short drive away as are the uber chic restaurants and boutique hotels of Tullum. Wallets emptied you can escape back to this delightful place. Bill the owner/manager is a delightful guy and a local Google So go here but not during April or August or Christmas as we want it!!

we had a great time hanging out at soliman bay, the kind of place you dont believe that still exist the house is literaly on the beach. lot to do around or just stay and relax. make sure you have a car, you´ll need it!

We spent 3 weeks at this wonderful place right on the beach and we had a great time. Our dog was welcome and it was very relaxing to know that we were able to travel with her and not leave her at home with a dogsitter. I loved the hammocks, the free kayaks, snorcheling and the peaceful athmoshere. The property was clean and the helpers picked fresh coconuts for us, right from the palm ;-) ahhhhhh!!! Bill helped us to find everything we were looking for and he even got us some special organic food in town that we couldn't find. He was open, generous and gave us important information about the area. He has a huge library that he freely shared with us whenever we wanted to get new books...and we read a LOT! We loved this vacation and we often talk about this place with friends. Thank you, Bill! We definitely will come back!

HEAVEN ON EARTH

We were greeted by the affable señor Bill upon our arrival and were tended to by his attentive staff our entire stay. The property is AMAZING. The sand a mere 2 steps down from the rear deck! Everything necessary for a perfect vacation is on the property including Pedro and Lidia who attend to your every need. For a couple of pesos Lidia will prepare whatever food you have in a DELICIOUS manner. There are kayaks for paddling around the reef protected bay and the beach is raked clean each morning. Had to imagine a better spot! We'll be coming back!!!

11 adults and 8 children stayed here over New Year's. The property is right on the beach and is truly as advertised. The beds are comfortable, the casa and casitas are charming and the beach is beautiful. There is good snorkeling right off the beach in a protected bay. Kayaks come with the property and are great for exploring the bay. The housekeeper, Lidia did a great job and we hired her to cook for us as well. She provided excellent meals without us leaving the casa with 8 kids. Bill was an excellent host and provided a wonderful place for a family reunion. Really liked not having to go off property to find a beach and snorlkeling.We made day trips to ruins and a cenote, This is a great spot. Can't wait to return

wir sind durch eine Kette von Zufaellen und sehr spontan zu diesem wunderschoenen Quartier gekommen, und ausnahmsweise mussten wir uns keine ganze Woche einmieten, denn es waren exakt die letzten drei Tage unseres Urlaubs vor dem Rueckflug . Die Lage: eine Bucht mit seichtem, kristallklarem , "beruhigtem" Wasser; die Wellen sind knapp 1 km weiter draussen am Riff. Dorthin u.a. kommt man mit hauseigenem Kayak (im Preis drin). Perfekt geeignet zum Schnorcheln, Strandwandern und um Voegel zu beobachten. Die Strasse Tulum-Playa del Carmen (MEX307) ist ca. 1,5 km entfernt, dort fahren haeufig Collectivos in beide Richtungen. In Tulum (ca. 13 km entfernt) gibt es mehrere Autovermieter und natuerlich reichlich Taxis. Nahegelegene Attraktionen sind die Mayaruinen von Tulum + von Coba (ca. 55km), der sensationelle Badestrand von Tulum sowie etliche Cenoten (Hoehlenseen zum Schnorcheln und Tauchen) Die Unterkunft: war fuer uns der reinste Luxus, wir sind sonst eher Backpacker. Architektur und Einrichtung sind geschmackvoll und funktionell , grosszuegig und gemuetlich in Einem.(u.a. riesig hoher, gut durchluefteter Aufenthaltsraum, viel Holz, schoenes Mobiliar, an anderer Stelle ausreichend + zutreffend beschrieben, immer warmes Wasser und Strom) Der Betreiber: ein Unikum. Bill hat als Aussteiger mit einem Vorleben in New York diesen Platz entdeckt und als Erster kultiviert, mit sehr viel Eigenarbeit und gegen diverse Widerstaende, ein echter Pionier. Er selbst bewohnt einen Wohnwagen mit Subway-Outfit. Bill ist ebenso humorvoll wie hilfreich, z.B. beim Mieten eines Autos: er kennt die Spielregeln und kann gut verhandeln. ... Erholung garantiert!

Urlaub im Paradies

Urlaub im Paradies, wer in Mexiko abseits des Touristentrubels Ruhe und Entspannung sucht, ist bei Bill genau richtig. Durch unsere Freundin Maria sind wir an diesem paradiesischem Ort gelandet. Das wunderschöne große, runde Haus steht an einer abgelegenen blauen Lagune mit wundervollen weißen, feinem Sandstrand. Hier kann man Schnorcheln, mit einem der hauseigenen Kajaks im karibischen Meer paddeln, am einsamen Strand spazieren oder Vögel beobachten. Abends sitzt man dann mit einem selbstgemixten Cocktail auf der Veranda und genießt die Weite und Ruhe, das Rauschen des Meeres und das silberne glitzern des Mondes auf dem Wasser. Das Haus bietet allerlei Bequemlichkeiten und Komfort. Eine sehr gut funktionale Küche ermöglicht ein schnell zubereitetes Mahl. Musikanlage und bequeme Sitzecken sorgen auch bei schlechtem Wetter für ein gutes Feeling. Das Haus hat eine Rundumverglasung, dadurch ist ein ständiger Blick auf das Meer möglich. Die riesigen Betten sind sehr behaglich und rückenschonend. Die sehr gepflegte Anlage lässt keine Wünsche offen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Man kann jederzeit mit seinen Fragen und Wünschen zu Bill gehen. Er kümmert sich um alles! Bill hat für alle Probleme eine Lösung. Ein Mietauto ist empfehlenswert, da die Straße 1,5 km und der nächste Supermarkt 11 km entfernt sind. In der näheren Gegend kann man viele antike Stätten und Cenoten erkunden. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Wir sind schon viel in der Welt herumgekommen, aber so ein schönes Urlaubsnest hatten wir noch nie. Bill, hab nochmals vielen Dank für Alles!

Great spot from a picky womens perspective

Just returned from a fantastic stay at Casa Playa Maya. My Hubie and I stayed in the upper casita, and it was perfect. The casita had a beautiful domed brick ceiling, well equipped kitchen and a nice deck. It was spotlessly clean. I have spent a considerable about of time in the Yucatan in the past 2 years and this unit had a few things that set it apart from the rest. The first comfortable bed I have had, fluffy soft pillows, ample water pressure and good screens ( i.e.no mosquito's, the place had 11 or 12 windows and a great breeze all the time). Soliman Bay is wonderful. Great snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, beach walking, birding, or just laying back with a book. The owner Bill, is a great host and a wealth of information about local attractions, shopping, restaurants that only a local could know. We will be back.

Casa playa maya est situé sur une baie des plus tranquilles et simple du Yukatan. Le lieu en sois est tout simplement génial, aussitôt entré sur les lieux, on se sent tellement bienvenue qu'on se croirait propriétaire. Que ce soit seul, en couple ou en famille, la villa est appropriée pour tous. Le propriétaire Bill nous recois avec son sourire et ses histoires rocambolesques qui nous met tout de suite a l'aise. Nul besoin d'aller dans les tours organisés pour le snorkling ou le kayak, c'est l'endrois idéal pour les nageurs et amateur de faune marine. La villa est d'une propreté exceptionnelle et le personnel est très serviable et efficace. Sur la plage, jour comme soir , sécurité extrême. L'acces à Soliman Bay est contrôlé par une 'gate' de sécurité 24 sur 24... Pour nous l'important était d'ouvrir notre porte au matin et d'y trouver la mer a 20 pieds... Pour un voyage en toute tranquillité a proximité de Tulum (10 km) Casa Playa Maya est définitivement l'endroie rêvé. Louez-vous une voiture et filler sans hésiter vers Soliman bay chez Bill Koller. ET surtout, NOUBLIEZ PAS votre kit de snorkling....... BON VOYAGE...

Soliman Heaven

How can you beat waking up to the sound of soothing waves while in the company of the rising sun? Add a cup of joe in your hand, soft powder sand beneath your feet & warm water brushing each step you take. Coffee will never be the same again!! I just love that Casa Playa Maya is right in the middle of the bay. The main house is simply beautiful, very cozy & well kept. The rooms & bathrooms are spacious & immaculate. I had my own TV/DVD, microwave, toaster, mini fridge & coffee maker. Although who needs a TV with paradise outside? I felt like I was kayaking and snorkeling in my own private beach. There is also an amazing restaurant, Sahara, on the bay. You can drive there in less than five minutes or opt for the scenic route via your feet & sand through their beachfront entrance. Tulum and Akumal are only a few minutes away. I recommend renting a vespa to see the ruins. FUN!! The staff was exceptional. They were very welcoming & accomodating. They made my stay that much more special and my leaving that much harder. No doubt the most relaxing vacation I've ever had. Now that I know all this exists in one place, I will be back every year. Already began assembling a group for 2011. Looking forward to returning. Thank you very much Bill!

Casa Playa Maya was our home base for a recent family reunion including nearly 30 people ranging in age from 10 to 85, (11 were teens or young 20-somethings). The location is nothing short of spectacular. The photos on the website are accurate, but can't really convey how magical it feels to sit on the patio in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand. The property is clean and well-maintained, and Bill has great people on site to help with whatever you need. Setting up this reunion was difficult because we were trying to find accommodations for so many people on a budget, but Bill was incredibly helpful and patient. We ended up finding three different villas on Soliman Bay, but Bill's place was our headquarters for morning coffee and general hanging out. You can paddle out into Soliman Bay a couple hundred yards to snorkel around incredible coral reefs, but you can also find colorful, amazing fish hanging out around rocks just a few yards from the shore. We left Casa Playa Maya a few times to check out other beaches and other snorkeling opportunities, but we always came back feeling that we'd already found the best. I thought our teens would get bored and need the nightlife of a nearby resort, but that didn't happen. I would definitely recommend Casa Playa Maya to anyone.

A little corner in paradise

We arrived ready for a disconnect from reality, and found Bill's house on beautiful Soliman Bay the perfect solution! The house is lovely with a big greatroom that opens onto a palapa covered porch just steps away from the gorgeous blue bay. With comfortable chairs and a brand new hammock, we spent most of our time reading on the breezy porch. The house's 2 large bedrooms have effective A/C, and are very clean, roomy and comfortable. The 2 Casitas behind the house were used by our 2 teenage daughters who loved the privacy and independence, while being close to us. The view from the porch is gorgeous, and the first afternoon we watched colorful fluffy clouds blow by into a rain storm out on the water, while our beach sunny and bright. Beautiful! The dogs on the beach provide cheerful entertainment---especially the 3 dauschunds from down the beach. The Bay is beautiful for long morning or evening walks. Last but by no means least, Bill is a gracious and unintrusive host who insures a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

A bit of Paradise

The best spot on earth is a comfy chair on the edge of the porch, beach at your feet with the torquise water just steps away, and the lovliest breeze constantly keeping you cool. Bill is a terrific and non-intrusive host. The main house has 2 very large bedrooms (1 upstairs, 1 down) with king size beds, brand new luxery foam toppers to sink into (very unusual comfort for Mexico). Each bedroom has it's own full bath. Our teenage daughters each took a casita, large and comfortable and just a few yards from the main house. All bedrooms had a/c. The kitchen, dining area and living room are cozy and nicely decorated. I must admit, i spent most of my time on that lovely porch in my perfect chair. My husband spent most of his in the water, happy as a manatee...

Just a quick note to all about the great time we had at Casa Playa Maya while we were in Mexico. THe house was spotless, rooms very comfortable, air conditioning worked like it should and the bay is amazing. We would recommend this for anyone who wants time to 'gear down' and relax. We ere 2 couples with 2 teenage girls and we all had a super time. Wireless internet helped keeping the girls in touch with Facebook (life's drama) and satellite TV got us the World Cup :) Thanks Bill.... it iwas a very special stay :)

GREAT FAMILY SPOT

I just wanted to say what a wonderful time and spot for our family vacation! We had ages from 3 to 87 and all had an excellent time! The beach was wonderful and right off the patio. The snorkeling was awesome and many attractions very close. It was great to have a place to call home while on vacation. Oscar was always there to answer questions and help. The house was clean and well maintained. It was everything we expected and more. Thank you Bill for your hospitality. I hope we can come back soon. I look at the pictures now and it brings back many warm feelings I can picture us now hanging out on the beach chairs with some cold ones! I would recommend this spot to families with small children and all ages. Its a more private experience than the resorts. You can put your kids down for a nap in the living room and sitt on the beach and enjoy yourself without having to be stuck in a room. Once again come here you wont regret it!

We spent a terrific and memorable Christmas at Casa Playa Maya. The accommodation was perfect for our family reunion (all 15 of us). The beach was ideal...super sand and snorkelling. Perfect place to chill in the heat. Did a few day trips (Tulum, Coba), which we enjoyed, but could have stayed at CPM the whole time. Bill, thanks for being so helpful and friendly, and we appreciated Oscar and Daisy's assistance. Esperamos volver algun dia! Bruce, Ros and the rest of the Canadian/English gang!

Relaxing directly in front of our vacation home with a margerita in one hand while the kids play for hours on the beach...who could ask for more? Casa Playa Maya was the perfect home away from home for our family...our own little piece of paradise. We especially enjoyed the kayaks, the snorkeling and building our little shell gardens which Oscar was always careful of when he prepared the beach in the morning. We explored the ruins, the towns, the cenotes, the sites but our favourite memories are the days we hung out right in Soloman Bay. The little family-run eatery near the south end of the beach is definitely worth a visit as well. Thanks for the excellent tips Bill and your personable, relaxed manner. We felt right at home. Playa Maya on Soliman Bay is the best kept secret on the Mayan Riviera. Close to the action, yet off the beaten path. Tulum and all of the Mayan ruins, great restaurants, night clubs are very close. Easy drive from Cancun Airport. Bill and his very helpful staff had great recommendations on what to see and do. However, it was hard to pry myself away from the idyllic Playa Maya compound overlooking beautiful Soliman Bay. The perfect location; beautiful facilities; warm, friendly and hospitable staff. The perfect vacation. Can't wait to return.

Casa Playa Maya was the perfect place for a vacation & a wedding. We stayed for 2 weeks in October 2008 and it was all truly MAGICAL. Bill was awesome, he helped me find a wedding planner & even let us have the wedding right there. It was all so perfect, everything I dreamed of and more. Casa Playa Maya has it all, you don't even have to go anywhere(except a quick trip into town for fresh corn tortillas and more cervesas) At the house we enjoyed lounging in the sun, kayaking, swimming & snorkeling, & in the area their are so many activities to do; Tulum ruins, zip linning, cenote cave diving, scuba diving & the ruins of Chichenitza are really close and worth the trip. Thank you Bill for the stay of a lifetime!! Also thank you to Oscar & Daisy you were all so wonderfull, we will be back!!

Bill, What can we say. We LOVE being there. Third time was a charm. It was wonderful to share your paradise with all our family. The brothers, sisters and kids loved it and had a blast. We have pictures on the fridge and I (Blondie) want to cry when I look at them. There is no better place to vacation. Many friends have asked why we don't do the All-Inclusive Resort vacation, I just tell them they wouldn't either if they went to your place one time. You can't find a more magical place. Wonderful private home designed ideally for families. It focuses attention towards the water through its architecture and is probably closer to the water than many, if not all, of its neighbors. Excellent accommodations, beautiful white coral sand, hospitable staff. Central to Xel-Ha, the Tulum ruins and many other activities, you have only to use the surrounding public beaches at the hotels or Akumal to realize what a treasure you have with a private beach. Many of our days we could look up and down the beach and count the number of people in the entire bay on one hand. Snorkeling with exotic fish, rays, lobsters, sea turtles is right in front in a bay protected by a large reef (which means no rip tides or fears for the children). Folks in all the surrounding towns are warm and helpful. As Arnold says, "We'll be baach!"

Nov 10 to Nov 24, 2007 The Williamson/Nadeau Families spent 2 great weeks snorkling and laying in the Sun. Bill, Oscar and Daisey were great. It was nice to have them living on site, for advice, maintenance and security. It was everthing we expected, clean, and maintained very adequate. We do hold the record for the most beer consumed by a group of 7 by the way. (we had 8 in our group one with baby) Bill was great and always concerned that we were doing OK and willing to give advice on the sights and attractions ' A fantastic holiday and we recommend it for any group wanting a quite place, yet close and friendly neibours. Bill -- our Casa Playa Maya vacation was the best family vacation we've ever had!! After our long, gray winter here in Northern Idaho, a week at your slice of paradise was a perfect retreat!! Just got back from a wonderful family week at Casa Playa Maya (CPM)on Solimon Bay. The casa is perfectly situated just yards from the ocean. It is comfortable, light and airy, and the bedrooms are air conditioned for comfortable nights. There is lots to do, kayaking ,snorkeling at the reef, Mayan ruins, ceonotes, wild life and Mexican ambiance. The housekeepers, Rafael and Corina, do a great job and Corina is a fantastic cook. Bill is a very good resorce for information about restaurants and things about the area and and how to get there. To sum it up CPM is ideal for a family vacation away from the madding crowds in Cancun. You will NOT be bored!

Just got back from a great week at Casa Playa Maya. 15 of us and room for all! The house and Casita will make you feel at home immediately. Clean, comfy, good library and well stocked kitchen. Bill is a wealth of local knowledge. Corrina and Rafael keep the place spotless and will cook an awesome meal on request. The beach is right in the backyard. Loved the kayaks and the great snorkling. Bill, Thanks so much for all your hospitality (Corina & Rafael too!)during our terrific vacation. The kayaking and snorkeling right out front were hard to beat (rays and turtles)as was the beach for relaxing. The surrounding area has so much to offer and kept everyone happy -- especially our wildlife nut -- monkeys, crocodiles, and birds galore! This property is located on a half moon bay which is still natural and unspoiled. The accomodations are comfortable and well designed. The proprietor is a hoot. Well read and bon vivant, Bill is a world traveler who has found his Shangri-La. Although he does not take credit for it he was the visionary who saw that others would also enjoy spending time at the water's edge.

Our week in April was just perfect! The Beach, the Water, the Restaraunts and most of all our host Senor Bill!! The thought of leaving Casa Playa Maya was so sad that I had to book another vacation just so I knew that I had something to look forward to when I got back to my reality.
