You'll be able to sip a glass of Malbec or Torronte´s (Argentina´s signature white wine) at sunset alongside the pool or on the terrace under the grape arbor. And you'll enjoy the quiet and natural beauty and privacy-- all within a short walk to restaurant and entertainment areas, shopping, cultural attractions, parks and plazas.

Travertine marble in the bathrooms, sleeping for two in a queen bed or two twins, custom-built armoires, a well-equipped kitchenette, slate and tile floors, traditional ethnic textiles, ceramics and original paintings by one of the owners: These are only some of the tasteful interior features you'll appreciate in your private apartment.

MENDOZA ANY TIME OF YEAR: Whether you're traveling for pleasure or business--or to study Spanish, the studio apartment offers a winning combination of location, natural beauty and convenience. (Ask us about our special "SPANISH FOR GROWN-UPS" package with lodging, Spanish classes and much more!)

From the outside, the apartments resemble a traditional Mendoza home on a residential street. But a step inside takes you to another world--a garden oasis, with banana, cherry and orange trees, roses and bougainvillea and jacaranda bushes.

We have three adjoining studio apartments located behind a residential house in central Mendoza. Apartments rent individually, but they are a perfect set-up for groups of up to six persons who are traveling together. Ask about options for groups larger than six.

RETIREES take note: Apartments are on ground level.

BUSINESS TRAVELERS take note: If you're tired of anonymous hotels, you'll appreciate the combination of charm, comfort and easy access to the business district. With advance notice, we can also arrange business meetings, meals or other catering on the premises. The sun-drenched conference room/dining area overlooking the garden is a value-added feature, perfect for a quiet, private meeting.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION: From your oasis in the city, it's a 5-minute walk to two excellent restaurants. In 10-15 minutes, you can walk to the main square, Plaza Independencia. On the way you'll pass numerous restaurants, cafes, shops and ice cream parlors. Just as close is San Martin Park---bigger than New York's Central Park-- with its rose garden, lake and walking and jogging areas.

The apartments serve as a great base for excursions to Mendoza’s wineries, the snow-capped Andes Mountains and shopping, restaurants, entertainment and cultural events in downtown Mendoza. One of the “Great Wine Capitals of the World,” Mendoza will enchant you with its excellent wines, wonderful food, spectacular mountain scenery (the Andes) vibrant artistic and cultural life, tree-shaded streets and plazas, and its temperate, sunny climate.

CLIMATE: Mendoza’s mild climate allows for outside activities for most months of the year. In warmer months, guests appreciate the access to the swimming pool and the spacious green interior garden with banana and orange trees, flowers and lawn. A patio with grape arbor and barbeque area allow for outside dining. The visitor can feel very much at home in this open setting.

RECENT REMODEL: The apartments have been remodeled and restored to new condition, with all new systems, appliances and furnishings. Floors are tile and slate.

Furnishings and decor include custom-built wooden armoires, bathrooms have Travertine Marble from a local quarry and Euro-style fixtures. Beds have top-line King Koil mattresses that can be configured as queen or two singles. Linens are high thread-count cotton. Each apartment has cable TV, a clock radio and free WiFi access, and access to phone for local calls.

The kitchenette has basic utensils and small appliances for preparing and serving breakfast or a light meal. Note: There are many take-out options from shops such as the pasta factory, home-cooking shop, and roast chicken barbeque (Not a franchise!). You can walk to several excellent restaurants in just a few minutes, making cooking optional rather than a necessity.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2004

We are a free-lance writer and an artist and we have lived in Spain in the past. After several years of searching for "the place" outside the U.S., in 2004 we went to Argentina for a winter vacation and ended up buying a home in Mendoza after being in the city just a few days.

In those few days, we were charmed by the friendliness of the people, the numerous green parks and plazas (the city is literally an oasis in the desert), the Mediterranean lifestyle (outdoor cafes, music, etc.),and of course, the great wine and local produce.

Argentina is one of the very few places in the world where the U.S. dollar continues to gain value, so although certain costs have risen over the last few years, it remains a terrific bargain for visitors with dollars or euros.

During our time in Mendoza, the atmosphere has become more and more cosmopolitan, as foreign investors have bought wineries and other properties. More high-quality restaurants with a variety of cuisines have opened, and the local cultural scene has blossomed in art galleries and studios, concerts and other public events. We have become increasingly involved in the cultural scene through our non-profit, the Mendoza Intercultural Association, whose purpose is to encourage intercultural exchange between people from Mendoza and Mendoza residents and visitors from other cultures.

Why the Owner Chose Mendoza

We loved the location of this property--walking distance to the center of the city, with its plazas and parks, restaurants, shopping and cultural activities; yet ensconced on a quiet, leafy, residential street in a typical Mendoza neighborhood. It's a tranquil, private oasis, well-located close to local services and attractions.

The Unique Benefits of this Studio

The Best of Both Worlds: The calm and peace of a garden and terrace combined with easy access to all the advantages of a lively, leafy city--restaurants, entertainment, parks and plazas, museums and shopping.

You can sip your breakfast coffee outside on the terrace, enjoy a glass of Mendoza Malbec wine alongside the pool, surrounded by lush vegetation, or make your own barbeque in the typical Argentine "parrilla" and savor it on the terrace under the grape arbor. When you're craving a night on the town, it's walking distance both the center city and to "Aristides," Mendoza's colorful, lively nightlife street.
