Welcome to Castlepark. Castlepark is uniquely positioned in Kinsale, the development itself has won many awards and was most recently referenced in Journal Of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (May 2007).
Our house is unique in that it is the largest house, positioned in the middle of Castlepark, spread over 3 floors and comprises of a very large open plan Lounge / Dining Room, Kitchen, wide hallways and 4 large bedrooms with 4 matching bathrooms. It can accommodate large or extended families with sleeping for up to 10 people comfortably.
We have just completed a full ‘makeover’ of the house and we know you will enjoy your stay here – relaxation, peaceful yet in the middle of everything.
The Entrance Hall is on the middle floor, the hall is large and inviting, south facing and showing off new oak flooring. From the hallway you get a first glimpse of what is too follow, its bright, very spacious, old style yet contemporary but above all open plan and ready to enjoy.
The Open Plan Lounge is above all spacious and bright – the new velux windows allow in the morning light, the beams are painted cream in colour and rise 45 degrees to the double storey height of the relaxing lounge and dining area. The new oak floor, exposed beams, cream panelling – the lanterns & leather couches – even the wall mounted plasma screen - they allow for a relaxing atmosphere.
The accompanying dining area comprises of a large pine table and 8 carved chairs – with views out the south facing full height window –allowing maximum light to flood the room.
Also on this floor there is a full bathroom and easy access to the fully equipped kitchen. The full size kitchen is well equipped with a Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, Hob, Oven, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer & all general kitchen equipment. There is also a table and 4 chairs for extra visitors.
You now have choices, either the stairs up or the stairs down...both excellently finished. The Stairs Down, with inlaid teak panelling & new woollen carpets leads to the 2 lower bedrooms and 2 ensuites. All of the downstairs rooms have hardwood maple flooring fully tiled bathrooms.
The first bedroom on the lower floor is a large double room, with pitch pine furniture, maple floor and a large three piece ensuite. All bed lined is the same design and blue in colour in keeping with the nautical theme throughout.
The second bedroom on the lower floor is extra large in size, with a large double bed and a single bed, again all antique pine furniture on a maple floor. Some of the old beams are again exposed in the two downstairs bedrooms and hallway.
Each of the two lower rooms are ensuite with quality fittings. There is also a spare pullout bed as an extra stored under the stair case just in case there is a need for an extra visitor.
The second staircase rises upwards, lit be a new velux window and cushioned with new woollen carpets, and as with all the house freshly painted. Overhead you can see some of the old support beams some almost 2 feet thick ! Also on the upper floor is a large hot press for extra storage.
Both the upper floor bedrooms have the exposed beams, natural in colour giving a nice contrast to the cream colours below. To the right is a nice twin bedroom, newly carpeted, with antique pine furniture, and additional old style glass-block windows to below. The other upper floor bedroom is a good size double, again with exposed natural beams, pine furniture and a large velux window providing subtle brightness. Both these bedrooms share a separate bathroom with electric shower.
In total there are four bathrooms throughout the house.
Our herb Garden is on the door step. Outside the house there is a planted and gravelled courtyard and private secure parking accessed via a pass code on an electric barrier.
About Kinsale: Originally a medieval fishing port, historic Kinsale (from the Irish, Ceann tSaile - 'Head of the Sea') is now known as the 'Culinary Capital of Ireland'. Located on the south west coast of Ireland, Kinsale is full of character and charm.
In the 17th and 18th centuries Kinsale was an important English naval base, and it still has a distinct Georgian flavour. With its yacht-filled harbour, brightly painted cottages, bow-windowed houses and displays of flowers in pots, tub and hanging baskets, it marks the beginning of scenic West Cork.
Only 18 miles from Cork, it is ideally placed as a deep-sea angling and yachting centre.
Kinsale is internationally recognised as the gourmet capital if Ireland, with a large selection of pubs and restaurants to cater for all tastes. There is always a traditional welcome and a selection of entertainment by day and by night.
However relaxed or active you wish to be on your holiday Kinsale allows you to take things at your own pace.
Our House, the ideal location: Our house is indeed a unique beachfront home, on a peninsula overlooking Kinsale itself. We have direct access to a very safe and sandy beach – to get to this from the house you stroll across the private lawns and step quietly onto the soft sand.
On the other side of the peninsula from the beach is a great yacht marina, Castlepark marina with multimillion euro yachts for charter. Also on the doorstep is the famous traditional pub, The Dock for a quiet pint.
Directly across the water is historic Charles Fort, behind the house is equally famous James Fort guarding Kinsale harbour and up behind the house is a beautiful headland with scenic walks , providing panoramic views of the harbour, Charles Fort, Kinsale town and the Bandon River. Kinsale caters for all sporting enthusiasts both land and sea based. You are also only 10 minutes from the ‘Old Head’ – one of the worlds’s most recognised and respected Golf courses.
Castlepark - has it all - yet you are still only minutes from the gourmet capitol itself – Kinsale.
A real Gem to escape too ! |
