We had a great time here! Even though it was January, this kids still played in the freezing water and we enjoyed the outdoors the entire time we were there. Everything was really wonderful! This is a great place to go with kids. The only trouble we had was finding it on the first night. The directions were a tad confusing...maybe the roads have changed a bit since the directions were typed, and we lost reception on our GPS and cell phones. The house is right new to the Texas Tipis...you can't miss them, and we drove by them several times before we found the house. FYI -- ATT has very spotty reception and there is no wifi at the house. It was a nice break from being glued to our phones, but a bit annoying to drive out to make phone calls. Obviously this is nothing the Days have control over, but just useful information :) Thank you to the Days! We loved every minute of our vacation!

The listing and photos are completely accurate. The house is very clean and well-equipped. The location is quiet. All the furniture is in good condition, and the beds are very comfortable. There were lots of things to do outdoors even though we stayed there over Thanksgiving weekend (2011), and it was cold much of the time. My husband really enjoyed cooking outside--there are at least six outdoor grills, of all types. All of us (including two college-age sons) were hoping to relax, and we did. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends. We hope to visit again when the weather is warm so we can take better advantage of being on the river.

We took my family of four (two small boys), my sister's family with 2 small(er) girls, and my parents and had an extremely wonderful time out Day's Away House. We arrived with the owner there to help to get my dad acquainted comfortably with everything and instantly were swimming and fishing before we could even blink an eye. The amenities are perfect and have almost everything you need and make for a much more relaxing location than any hotel I have ever stayed. Even in our severe TX drought this year, the water was still at least 7 feet deep and more than enough to go off the rope swing into the water. Had fun catching and releasing a few channel catfish, a ton of perch by the dock for the kids to catch, canoeing up the river, floating out on the dock, the rafts, the tire swing, smores, and so much more. My son was already asking when we could go back within 2 minutes of leaving. My kids ranked the best things there 1. swing rope 2. canoes 3. floating dock 4. fishing 5. tire swing 6. smores 7. ...well I forget, but they loved it so much here! Hope to be back for a longer time next year! Best of all...I didn't here "Dad I'm bored" all weekend! Was extremely relaxing for the adults as well as fun for the kids!

We loved our stay at Day's Away House! We rented both the house and the cabin. Both were clean, well-kept, and decorated beautifully. Every imagineable convienience was available, plus many unexpected ones! Becky was so helpful and a joy to work with. She made the rental process so easy! We loved everything--the house, the canoes, the trampoline, the hammock, the patio and firepit down by the water, the covered decks, the floating dock, and even the friendly ducks. The grandkids even caught several perch from the river bank. Be sure and visit Dave's Place for some great food just down the road from the house. There are all kinds of animals and birds there for the kids to see. We ate there twice during our visit. The cell phone service was not too good, but that cannot be helped. We definately plan to visit at Day's Away House again next summer--maybe before! Thanks again, Day family!!

A cool, wet retreat from the hot, dry weather

My extended family and I had a wonderful stay at your river house. Our diverse group ranged from not yet 2 to not yet 82, and all were equally delighted by the beautiful, shaded yard, large array of "toys" and activities, and peaceful surroundings. My 14 year old son and 9 year old great nephew did their best to wear out the rope swing, and we all enjoyed the canoes (along with kayaks we brought along) which we paddled upstream to the more remote and wild areas and cypress canopy. The dry, breezy climate and shaded shoreline and yard make a perfect escape from the Texas summer heat and a trip to the upper Guadalupe is quickly becoming a family tradition.

Amazing Get Away

This place is wonderful - especially if you want to get away and relax. I was surprised to found out that it is located right in town but the house and the river were great. I had looked at many other rentals and was so glad that we picked this one - the water was deep and the firepit wonderful. As everyone else states - the floating dock is amazing and we used it during the day to lay out and after dark just to relax on the water. The kids had a great time on the swing and trampoline and we made use of the new canoe. Becky was great to work with on the rental of this property. We did have to adjust to not having cell service but it was actually nice in hindsight. I am sad that most of the summer has been booked because I would love to bring another group of friends to see this awesome vacation spot. Thanks for sharing your home and I am sorry it took me so long to get around to writing this review.

This is a great place to relax!!! The house is super clean and has everything you need and more...there are even toys and coloring books for little ones - what a nice surprise!!! Becky is so great to deal with and extremely helpful. You wont regret renting this property. Center Point, the town where the house is located is a small town so there is really nothing to do around there. I was a little scare when I arrive to the town because it doesn't seem as pretty as I thought but the house and location made up for it! Kerville is about 10 min away, at kerrville you can find an HEB supermarket if needed and there is a small convinience store about 3 min from the house. This is a perfect vacation rental to just go and relax and not leave the house. We had an awesome time from 1 yr olds to 40 years old...there is fun for everyone! Only one recommendation: bring cutting knives if you plan to cook, the ones in the house need some sharpening. Thank you so much Becky and family for sharing your amazing house!

What a place!

The owners have descibed the Day's Away house and faciliies just perfectly, it truly is everything you see in the pictures and description. Having trawled the web extensively for a place on the river in the Hill Country there was nowhere even near to comparing to Days Away. Our family (2 adults & 3 kids, aged 6, 8, and 16) booked with the intention of spending half a day at the property and tripping off into hill country in the afternoons, but all of us found the place far too enjoyable to leave! There truly is something for everyone, whilst the rope swing was a bit too thrilling for our 6yro girl she wasn't short of things to keep her entertained (being captain of pulling the floating deck in and out was her big thing)and the trampoline, which would normally have been enough to keep her happy didn't even get a look in. The fishing's great too, all the kids were thrilled to catch their own fish, with enough regular bites to keep them interested. Unfortunately, the local bar - Daves, wasn't open on the two times we walked down, but it looked like a great place for a beer, instead we found ourselves at the Honkey Tonk (again only walking distance - opposite the fuel station) which was rough and ready, but really friendly. Made it to Kerrville (about 9 miles) for a great steak at the family run Cowboy Steakhouse, not cheap, but great food and a refreshing change from the usual 'chains' we'd been frequenting on our Texas road trip. Just about every comment in the guest book mentioned a return trip to the Days Away house and ours was no exception, this place is truly exceptional - don't bother looking at any other properties - this is the one!

With little ones as well as adults, we all had such a wonderful time, there was something for every age! We spent our days swimming in the river, and at night we enjoyed smore's by the firepit! We stayed at the Day's Away house for a week & had a great time! My 11 & 2 year old both enjoyed their stay! My parents came with us & loved it as well. My husband even went swimming with us (he's never swam in a river before :)). We loved the rope swing, my 2 year old loved the trampoline, & we even roasted marshmallows & made smores one night in the fire pit. Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your beautiful house!

Couldn't have had a more relaxing time. Four generations were on the vacation and there was something for everyone. House was immaculate, yard was large, nice and green, water was soooo refreshing. Short distance to Fredericksburg where we picked peaches and berries...Definitely one to remember and to book again. Becky was a doll to deal with.... thanks again for everything!

Our family stayed at Day's Away in July '09 and loved it. Our high school daughter and her friends stayed in the adjacent cabin, providing them some "freedom" but still keeping them close. The house is beautiful and very comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen and bath. The outdor grills and tv/entertainment system worked great, and we especially enjoyed the outdoor music system. Of course,the highlight of our stay was the great waterfront. The water was clean and refreshing (even during the drought), the rope swing was a blast for everyone and the floatng dock was fantastic. We're definitely coming back.

We had a glorious week renting both the house and adjoining room for a week for a family reunion, and to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. WE HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST.. and were thinking that the pictures weren't revealing the real feeling of tranquility and fun. We ranged from 13 to 80 and there was something for ALL of us. Trampoline, Fishing, Swimming, Swinging, BBQ's, a Kitchen full of everything you need. My personal favorite was the floating dock... what a HOOT! Comfortable Beds, even had internet contact if you sat at the dining room table! Suggestion, walk to Dave's at the end of the street for an interesting place and a great hamburger! There wasn't anything we didn't enjoy, except for the week going extremeely TOO FAST! We will be back.. and everyone said, we want to meet once a year, GOD WILLING... Thanx soo much for the memories made at your special place.

Thanksgiving at Days Away was wonderful. Home is beautifully decorated with all the ammenities a family would need. Overlooks scenic river with beautiful trees. We loved canoeing, floating on the moving dock, feeding the ducks and the tire swing. We will definitely be back.
