What a wonderful treat to spend a week in a beautiful condo with amazing views. The snorkeling is awesome right in front of the condo. There are many great side trips to take that are only a short ride away. We would highly recommend this condo to any of our friends and family.

The unit was great! Very very very quiet place. The pool on the way to the unit was great. This place has this quaint feeling. Staff are really nice too. Seriously, I aint talking this up. We were even at a resort for a week prior to our stay here and we liked this place much better! Water was there in the unit as well as all the amenities. We stayed there with our two children. One stayed on the futon while the other on the cushions. This was a really great place. Snorkeling out front? True! I recommend you go in the mornings before the winds pick up too. You see coral and fish. You can even go snorkeling at the place about 7 minutes walk called Yakul Lagoon which has a lot more fish but no coral due to the freshwater. This Half Moon Bay is really nice. The Akumal main beach is about 25 minutes walk or you can take a taxi...but do NOT miss this main beach. Beautiful. Kids loved the Mango smoothies from Turtle Bay Cafe near the main entrance to Akumal!

My husband and I recently stayed at this condo and absolutely loved it! Our only regret is that we only stayed for four days (if the dates are available for our next trip to the Riviera Maya, we'd want to stay here much longer!). There was daily maid service, and the gentlemen at the front desk were extremely helpful (given our elementary Spanish skills!). The grounds are shared with the La Sirena complex, and the landscaping and pool area are just amazing. (We spotted large iguanas and a cotimundi...very cool!) The snorkeling right outside the complex is great..we rented fins from a place down the road and brought our own masks and snorkels and went out every day. (You're right around the corner from Yal-Ku lagoon also.) The condo itself is part of a small group...I think we counted 11 in total...) and all units have floor to ceiling front windows...we ate breakfast in front of them each morning. We had no problems at all with the temperature. There's a brand-new air-conditioner in the bedroom, which we never ran, and the place has excellent airflow...if you open the back slider, the window between the bedroom and the living area, and the front vent windows, it's like a little wind tunnel...great cross-breeze! The kitchen is very well-appointed..even down to the tupperware to keep the ants out of your sweets! (They are EVERYWHERE in Mexico, so just make sure to keep everything sealed up or in the fridge, and you'll have no problems!) The plumbing was also some of the best we encountered while in Mexico; it was the ONLY place we stayed that never had any issues. Make sure to head up to the roof to check out the sunset...breathtaking! We walked to town at least once everyday (the loncheria is fantastic!) and didn't find it overtaxing-it's all flat, and there are shady spots along the way. Also, conveniently, there is a mini-mart and two restaurants about halfway to town, so if you just need some beer for the fridge or some snacks (we actually found ingredients for a small dinner at the mini-mart) or want to hit a happy-hour, there's options right around the corner. I would recommend bringing a head-lamp or small flashlight for the walk back to the condo in the evening, not really for security, but to be able to see the potholes! Overall, this was an amazing place, and I really miss falling asleep and waking up to the sound of crashing waves...hopefully we'll be able to get back there soon!

We stayed here last July and have been meaning to write a review, and am just getting to it. We have stayed in Akumal many times and really loved everything here at this property. The staff was very helpful and very attentive, and not to mention, super nice. The property and grounds were very clean and well maintained. We felt very welcome here and would come back for sure. The snorkeling just outside of the unit is probably the best in Akumal. We are not the all inclusive type, and cannot stand big corporate touristy places. We loved it here and will come back again. P.S. Check out the little kitchen near the Akumal Bay parking lot. Great Tacos and breakfast. We ate here all the time for a quick, tasty, meal. Also try pescadores for good fresh fish and amazing margs. We shop for groceries in Playa Del Carmen or in Tulum. Great prices.

Just home from a week's stay here. The condo was very comfortable and had everything I could ask for. It was hard to decide where to start the day, however. Would it be just sitting by the windows enjoying the amazing view, down on the beach listening to the breeze ripple through the palms, or in the garden area poolside? The property is very clean, quiet and well maintained. There are numerous activities on site as well as nearby. The staff is very friendly and more than happy to be of help in any way. I saw the biggest brain coral I've ever seen snorkeling in the bay in front of the condo, as well as numerous fish. Akumal Bay just up the road has a wonderful sea turtle population. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.

I have been to Akumal on several occasions and this condo was PERFECT for our needs. We were very happy with the plentiful amenities provided in this comfortable space. Everything you could possibly need for cooking there if you like, Ipod dock/speakers for in-condo use, clean and comfortable bed and futon as well as the bedding, towels, etc. The maid service is wonderful, as usual, as is the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The condo owner was so very helpful with the planning and execution of our reservation and certainly made our stay all the more enjoyable, addressing any questions we had once we arrived via email! We absolutely loved our stay in Akumal, the "Place of the Turtles", as it is called! So many things to do and see just there in the village! Yet it is close to Tulum as well as Playa Del Carmen for more adventure! However, knowing how relaxing and comforting our "home" was, we often just enjoyed hangin' out there after an evening out. I highly recommend this condo for anyone wanting to wake up, look out the window and drink in what is truly one of the most beautiful places you will ever visit!

After reading the other review listed we were somewhat concerned about the possibility that this rental would be too hot. That was not true however. Actually it was very comfortable even without all of the windows, doors and ceiling fans on. With the constant breeze it got quite cool at times in there. The open, screened windows in front, and back and door on the small patio provide plenty of freash air anytime during the day. We loved the place, very relaxing. It was clean, well maintained and the owner answered all of or questions. The location is great, as you can see by the photos but the road in there leave a lot to be desired. It seeems like the property owners do the upkeep and repair on the road so if there are areas with no homes, there is basically a rutted dirt path. The snorkeling in the lagoon, in front of the condo and Akumal Bay is awesome, lots of fish, rays and some sea turtles. The restaurants that we tried were very good and the 2 groceries near the arch coming in from rt.307 have just about anything you could need. It is central to a lot of sightseeing but you definitely need a car. We would recommend this place to anyone and can't wait to go back ourselves. The only thing we would change if it were ours would be to add some window treatments of some kind to the big front windows. More for privacy at night than anything else.

Keep in mind while reading this, if this place had full air conditioning, this two star rating would be a five. Stunning view, great snorkeling, Ana, the maid was very sweet. It was quiet, peaceful, but unbearably hot. No air conditioning in the main living area and the windows, which were literally burning hot to the touch, acted like a green house. Temp inside with all windows open and a stiff breeze outside we estimate to be in the mid 90's in December. Maybe in the summer when the sun is higher and doesn't shine directly in the windows, the place isn't so hot. With a full kitchen, we had plans to cook our meals but were unable because of the extreme heat. With all the windows closed it had to be 100 degrees inside. We stopped and looked at another place on the same beach that had no air-conditioning. It was easily 15 degrees cooler and quite comfortable inside. We even considered losing our pre-paid rent and getting another place. The bedroom does have air, but you have to empty water out of the air conditioner every 2-3 hours or it stops working and we could never get the temp below 78 in the bedroom even with the air-conditioning at full blast. The pool and gardens are pretty and pristine and were never crowded. There was WIFI but we had to carry our laptop down to the office area to get a signal. There are several good restaurants in walking distance. Yal Ku Lagoon is right around the corner and has beautiful artwork, clear water and big parrot-fish. We really liked the area and think this condo would be a great place to stay if they could just get the heat under control. We could not stay in the main living area at all, even at night. I was disappointed because the place is so lovely, and I was really looking forward to our stay, but I was unable to get refreshed even after a cold shower. We did spend 4 nights at another hotel which was comfortable temperature-wise. Sorry, I hate to give less than positive reviews but I need to be honest. Not sure why there is no other feedback about this place. People tend to leave positive feedback and don't like to say anything negative. Maybe no one wanted to say anything about the heat. But it would have been nice to know before we rented.

My husband and I were in Akumal last October and stayed here. When I was searching for a place one thing that is a must is air Conditioning, Needless to say when we arrived it was hotter then usual, mid 90’s. What was called an air conditioner was in the bedroom was nothing more then a swamp cooler. In order to keep it going we were up 3 to 4 times in the night to dump the water out of it. The ceiling fans had only one speed…slow! It was so hot I was unable to cook anything! Both of the couch’s in the front room are uncomfortable, really uncomfortable. The bed was ok, really firm but fine. It is my understanding that a real air conditioner has been put in the bedroom but If you are expecting a condo that will remain cool, below 80 this is not the place. The condo is very clean and the maid was fantastic. The view speaks for itself…BEAUTIFUL!!! The main pool is also beautiful. And of course the price is right. If the entire condo was air conditioned I would rent again (and be willing to pay more) but we come in October and it can be really hot and VERY HUMID!

This is a great place to stay- lots to do, many other beaches nearby. Snorkeling at Yal-ku, reef in front of condo, and Turtle Bay was excellent. Condos are well run, safe, and clean. Staff was helpful. The view from #3 La Iguana is tremendous.

We had an amazing time in Akumal. Your condo was perfect for our family of four. Our two "tween" daughters enjoyed sleeping on the futon and the bench/couch. They opened their eyes every morning to a spectacular view of the ocean. We enjoyed the king-sized bed--firm, but not too hard. The condo staff were friendly and helpful and the condo was clean. We liked the convenience of having a kitchen for breakfast and lunch. For dinner, we often walked to the local restaurants which are quaint and have superb food. The area feels very safe. We had tons of fun sight-seeing and snorkeling. The snorkeling directly in front of the condo was good. We saw a variety of coral and fish as well as a sea turtle and a manta ray. The ruins of Coba were not as crowded as Tulum. (Wear a swimsuit under your clothes when at Tulum ruins, there are stairs to a great swimming beach with lifeguards.) My daughters liked Coba ruins better. They liked the shaded trails, climbing around on the ruins, and riding bicycle through the jungle. We all enjoyed swimming and snorkeling at the different cenotes as well. We would definitely recommend this condo to friends and family. Thank you! Gail and Jon -- Michigan, USA

We stayed March 11th through 17th. I can't say enough about the views and sounds of the ocean. The King bed was very comfortable and the AC in the bedroom was nice. Had all the amenities in the kitchen we needed. Pools and the staff were wonderful. We'll be back.
