This is an awesome property, and we loved our week-long stay. The house was neat and clean, well maintained and very well decorated. The view is amazing. Birdy and Sam are very nice, and they were very responsive in their communication. We will definitely return. Our kids called it the "Thai Tea" house because of its nice cedar color, and Birdy and Sam told us their nephew used to call it their playhouse. It's really a fun, relaxing place. Five stars! Thanks for sharing, Birdy and Sam!

We found this to be the perfect home to rent! There were 7 of us and we all had plenty of space. The views are beautiful and we loved sitting out on the deck at any time of the day to enjoy them. The kids loved being able to go downstairs to play ping-pong - they had fun! We loved that when we were at the house we felt so far away from everything, yet we only had to drive about 7 minutes to get to North Conway, which was perfect! We are looking forward to our next stay there already! Thank you very much for everything, Birdy.

We had such an enjoyable time here in the mountains. We hated to leave and head for home. Everything at the house was great...clean, warm, homey and comfortable.....toys a big plus. Making the holiday even more special was seeing the large flock of turkeys in the yard and the Christmas train ride with Santa & Elves downtown. Loved having the off & on snow showers the last few days making it wintry in the mountains! We do hope we will be able to come back again. We would highly recommend this property!

Thank you Birdy & Sam for sharing your wonderful home with our family. We all had a great time. The children loved going through all the toys in the basement and Ron & I enjoyed watching the sun rise over the mountain in the morning. Your home is quite inviting, clean, comfortable and in a great location. We went biking on the Great Glen trail and the route from Cannon Mt to the Flume...what a ride! The Flume was gorgeous and fun to explore. We also had some amazing hikes around Echo Lake and up to Diana's Baths (even though it was pouring rain). I rode the zip line at Attitash....what a thrill. Save some time for us...we'll be back next year.

It's a wonderful location - so centrally located to all the fun. The kids had a great time running around the minute we got there. The ping pong table and sand box were big hits. Even though we went to great places like Storyland, Santa's Village, Echo Lake and summit of Mt Washington, the kids always smiled when we said "It's time to go back home to the vacation house". The house was in great condition, very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this property and owner to everyone. A++++++ experience!!!!!!!

July 10-17, 2010: "Our family has had a fantastic trip back up to the mountains. Revisiting old stomping grounds-Emerald Pond, Lower Falls and Black Cap - and enjoying dinner at the Shannon Door ( best pizza!!) were among our favorite stops this trip. Of course, picked up goodies downtown to munch back here at the house. The house treated us very well - the views are gorgeous! It's so peaceful here and a great escape for our family. We had lots of game nights and had a blast competing on the ping pong table. Thank you for a wonderful week and we hope to be back here in the future.

Our family got together here from Pennsylvania and California, and enjoyed our stay very much. We, the Vuchic family have been coming to North Conway since 1969!!... and always had great times. Wew know the lakes, White Horse, Black Cap and Mt. Washington, restaurants and theaters. This house has been an excellent base to visit all these - and always some new places and enjoy this location. Spatious house with all the comforts we may desire. A great place for a memorable vacation!

WOW! What a wonderful place to take in God's beauty! Thank you Birdy and Sam for sharing your beautiful vacation home with us. This grand home is so inviting the moment you step into it and is supplied with every emenity you possibly need. I can't say enough about the view from the home. Huge open windows facing Humphrey's Ledge...absolutely breathtaking! Our grandchildren loved the game room and hung out there most of the time. My husband, daughter and I played a few games of ping-pong too. Boy, we haven't done that in a while. We wanted a place with plenty of room surrounded with blissful peace. That's just what we got when we stayed at Humphrey's Ledge Mountain House. Our family can't wait to go back. Once again, Birdy and Sam, thank you so very, very much. From reading your reviews and guest book, we realized just how much you have touched so many lives by sharing your vacation home. God bless you both! "What a joy to have this lovely house as a home base to our White Mountain Adventures! We had the loveliest weather of the season and took advantage of it by grabbing several peaks including Sugarloafs ( Twin Mt) Mt. Eisenhower ( a lung buster above treeline) and Mt. Potash ( crazy river crossing) and Blueberry Mountain in Evans Notch. We also took a visit to a wonderful art gallery in Center Sandwich as well as an annual visit to the old print barn in Meredith ( to those who love old prints and other ?). Birdy was a gracious hostess and we are delighted to have met her and experienced this wonderful home. We will be back!"

Probably the best part of this vacation was arriving at the house and knowing the whole family would be comfortable and inspired by the beautiful views -- even if Mother Nature didn't always cooperate. This house is a gem! Wonderful for grown-ups and kids alike. We've been coming to Bartlett/North Conway for many years and is by far, the most wonderful place we've ever stayed. Usually, by the end of the vacation, the kids are cranky and ready to go home -- not this time! Thanks to Birdy and Sam for being thoughtful, gracious and supremely helpful hosts.

"3 people from a small town in northern Mainem, Houlton ME to be exact made amny fond memories to be shared for a lifetime at this wonderful place. We even shared the door yard with some wildlife one night. As the grill was going and the steaks were cooking, a mother bear and her two little cubs decided to come in the yard to see what was for supper. The hardest part of it all is the quiet that sets in as we have to leave such a wonderful place. Thanks for the hospitality and all the comforts of home. PS: and like all good vacations, the sun is truely shining as we leave. "

We had a great week at the house. It was clean and well presented. It had everything we needed for a perfect holiday in the mountains! The kids loved the sandbox and all the outside toys. The basement with all the inside toys was great for those rainy days. The kids loved reading all the books and were very at home! The proximity to Storyland was great - it meant a very short journey home for our two toddlers after 7 hours at the park. This house has lots of space and is a big three-bedroom property. The views are stunning and the deck is perfect for relaxing on a hot day. Birdy is very welcoming and was able to suggest some great ideas to help us make the most of our time in the area. We would definitely recommend this holiday home for families looking for a home away from home!
Owner response:I enjoyed every moment that I spent with you and your children. The Paddington Bear is waiting for Andrew's return. Birdy

We booked early in the year and couldnt wait to get out to the States for our 17 day holiday. We stayed a couple of nights in Boston before arriving at the house. We were a little bit early mainly due to the blizzard forecast but Birdy didnt mind and she welcomed us with open arms. She was just finishing decorating the house and provided us with decorations for the tree which we cut at a local farm. What a location! The house was everything we wanted and more. Both of the Children enjoyed chilling out in the house as well as sledging in the garden (sledge provided by Birdy even though we bought one on the way up from Boston). Coming from the UK where never get any snow it was fantastic to get 23 inches of the stuff during our stay. The trees and gardens at the house looked lovely covered in Snow. As first time skiers we headed straight to Mount Cranmore which we found to be perfect for us and the kids, with both of the children learning to Ski during our stay. However we would recommend the guys at Heavens Ski Shop at Intervale as they were very helpful & a lot cheaper with the hire equipment than Mount Cranmore. We would recommend Birdys house to anyone young and old alike. The local amenities were superb (recommend snow mobiling if you can stand the cold), plenty of good quality Restaraunts and snack bars when not cooking in the house. All in all we had a great family holiday and we would love to go back maybe to experience the summer or fall or even another Xmas & New Year! Many thanks from us all.
Owner response:Bill, Thanks for your kind words. I so much enjoyed your family and the opportunity to contribute to the success of your New England Christmas holiday. We've had several similar snow storms since your visit, but no one has enjoyed the "white" stuff more than your children. Sorry we didn't arrange a dinner at our place - our own family travel plans got in the way. Next time for sure! We learn so much from our European visitors and enjoy sharing what's similar and different about our "New England". Regards to the rest of the family. Birdy

What a view! We had a great stay in this home - and it's a perfect location. Our family spent most of the trip hiking and viewing the beautiful foliage. The home was clean, spacious and comfortable. The rental logistics were easy and no hassle, we had no issues.

My friends and I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful house during our October 2008 vacation. From the moment we walked in, we were in awe of this beautiful property. The house is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It is spacious and well-equipped, beautifully decorated and in a perfect location. As photographers, we were never at a loss for beautiful, scenic locations to visit and being peak Autumn leaf season was the icing on the cake. You will not regret one moment of choosing this location for your New Hampshire vacation. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
Owner response:Liz, So glad you and your friends enjoyed your stay. What a treat to have two eager photographers and a romance writer rave about their experience. I understand that Humphrey's Ledge will be featured in an upcoming novel! The pictures you shared of the waterfalls and autumn foliage were a treat. Let me know when the novel comes out! Thanks again for taking the time to send a review. Regards, Birdy

Sorry I'm late in writing this review. My wife and I and our good friend Liz went to Humphrey's Ledge House in mid October 2008. We hit the peak fall colors just at the right time. The house is beuatiful, open and comfortable with fantastic views out the windows. We had a very memorable trip and Liz and I took huundreds of photos while my wife gathered material for a romance book. Birdy was fun and very willing to help with whatever we needed. We highly recomend Humphrey's Ledge to everyone!

There are several great things about the Humphrey's Ledge house; but at the top of the list is that beautiful view from the deck. We ate in each night to take in the same view from the dining area. The kitchen was fully equipped. Off of the master bedroom is a beautiful sunken jacuzzi tub situated with a window view. The finished basement was the ultimate hang out place with tv, games and an awesome ping pong table. The house is very conveniently located near both Storyland and the North Conway area. It is also very close to our favorite hiking area, Diana's Baths. It is a great house and I would highly recommend it. We look forward to going back!

We had an absolutely great experience at this lodge, extremely realxing wonderful spot to be able to get away and unwind and just realx would love to got there again.
Owner response:Bail, Thanks for your wonderful comments. I understand your children enjoyed the play area - especially the sandbox. Sorry I didn't get a chance to watch them - Perhaps next time. I have plans to expand the play area next summer. I've already added a wading pool. Even though Echo Lake Beach and Diana's Baths are very close, there's nothing like having your own private sand and safe swimming area. Hope to see you soon. Birdy

Our first visit to New Hampshire and we all loved it! We couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay. Even when you were "home" you felt like you were outdoors with all the beautiful windows/views. We loved starting the day on your deck as well as barbequeing a coupled of times. One night when we were cooking on the deck, we got to watch some rock climbers in the distance. The home is just as nice as the pictures on the web. We really took advantage of our time here -with lots of hiking. Some easy and some difficult. We played in the water both at Dianna's Bath and the Saco River (we took out kayaks). Some went horseback riding down the street. We picked strawberries and had shortcake for dessert one night. Cathedral Ledge was gorgeous and the ride to the top of Mt Washington was awesome - the views were breath taking. We loved driving everywhere - the journey to where we were going was just as much fun as the destination. We even went on a moose watch and saw 5 moose including a mom and a baby. Every waterfall we hiked to had its own appeal. If you love being out in nature, this is the place for you. North Conway is a very nice town with quaint shops, places to eat and if you like outlets, there are some of those too. We hope to go back again some day and if we do, this is where we would stay.

My husband, 90 year old mother and myself justed returned from Humphrey's Ledge Mountain House. It was wonderful. Everything described in the website was even better than stated. The house was spotless, the furniture clean and comfortable. The kitchen well supplied with appliances and gadgets. The space was amazing. Though there were just 3 of us I could see a family with 3 or 4 children easily living in the house. We wanted to stay for weeks! The location is great - just 10 minutes from North Conway but off the main road with views of the mountains that most town cottages and condos can't provide. We found that the various state parks and the national forest itself with all it's trails, scenic drives and other attractions were on our doorstep. One note for those looking for absolute peace and quiet - this convenient location does come with some noise from the nearby but not visable road. We noticed it but it did not diminish our enjoyment of the deck and surroundings. The house was easy to access when we arrived. The owner provided excellent directions and the use of a key box made getting in simple. Even though the owner was away on vacation herself, she called to check if all was well and we had the phone number of a local contact if there were any problems. We hope to return to the house for a longer stay and I would strongly recommend this property.
Owner response:JJJ, Thanks for your helpful review. I was pleased to hear how well your mother enjoyed the Master Bedroom on the ground floor with her own private bath and shower and even a separate outside exit. I do have families who travel with their elderly parent(s) and need assurance that the house provides both comfort and safety. Yes the house has a great location- 2 private acres nestled against the White Mountain National Forest and still only 3 short miles to North Conway Village with all its charm and services. Thank you for mentioning the "bit" of street noise for those who want absolute rural quiet. Since we are up on a knoll above Upper West Side Road (road not visible), some noise from passing cars does drift up - as sound often does in the mountains. Fortunately no one has mentioned being bothered by it. Thanks again for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am always looking for ways to improve the property and your vacation experience. Regards, Birdy

This house has everything a family could want. I particularly loved the kitchen and living area, which includes a walk-out deck with a spectacular view. House is clean and spacious with all modern conveniences. My daughter (age 5) loved the campfire and walk in the woods, and we even saw a red fox. The owner graciously included some fun games and toys, which were a nice touch. Looking forward to a return trip soon.
