For the past two years, a group of girlfriends and myself gather together for 4 long days of country bliss at Quarry Hill Farm. It doesn't get much better, in my opinion. There are plenty of rooms to have privacy from one another or places to hide and read in the garden. But the main rooms also accommodate our group of six very comfortably. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, yet allow for total privacy and only check that all is working well or stop by to deliver warm Irish soda bread. The 2 cottages are spotless, well-equipped with all the amenities you might need, including a dvd player and a bose stereo for your iphone or ipod. The jogging and walking is very good, and swimming holes are not too far. It's often warm when we go, so we have not cozied up in front of the wood stove yet, but it's there to remind us that if it's cold, the wood pile is generously stocked. We often cook our own meals in order to not have too many plans (in addition to our plays for the Shakespeare Fest) and to relax, drink wine, and make lovely meals in the easy-to-use kitchen. Sitting outdoors for three meals a day, whether it's on the deck (there are several) or down by the garden or in the meadow, is heavenly. To be in such a lovely cottage together, surrounded by straw hills, giant old oaks, fruit trees (which the owners always offer to share) and horses, is so calming and comforting when you've been leading a hectic city life. The outdoor shower is fantastic! And the house and grounds are impeccable and super clean. The climate is normally mild and wonderful and if we crave a sauna or massage, it's just minutes to town or to the funky but charming Jackson Hot Springs. Ashland is a wonderful getaway, no matter what time of year, and, coming here to stay feels like home. Thank you to Joe and Annette for such extreme hospitality always!

What a wonderful surprise to arrive at Quarry Hill Farm and find a charming cottage and guest house that would rival something we've seen in Europe. The large trees and garden paths invite you outside -- however; the well thought out interior details and decor of the main house, guest cottage and unique Tipi make it hard to leave! My mother and I met her sister (Aunt) and daughter (Cousin) for a relaxing family weekend that didn't disappoint. The donkey Sebastian and dog Moss were sweet additions to the property. We hope to back soon. Thank you Annette and Joe!

We spent a wonderful vacation here last summer. The farmhouse and surrounding gardens are lovely - they look great in the photos but the photos don't even come close to capturing the warmth and peace they exude. Beautifully taken care of details everywhere - from the plants and herbs in the garden, to the furnishings in the living room and terrace, to the gorgeous outdoors shower. The kitchen is also very well stocked with everything you need to cook and have a great time. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. They are there if you need to ask them for ideas or tips, but also respect your privacy and leave you alone most of the time. And they let us share the fruits of their plum trees. The place is close enough to Ashland that you can bike there - following a great path by a creek. It takes 10 minutes to drive to town. We saw many Shakespeare plays and dined at great restaurants - but could always come "home" to the farmhouse if we needed some peace.

We found The Farm to be delightful! The Farm House, Cottage and even the Tee Pee were charming, All was so clean, well supplied with comfortable beds. The spaciousness and grassy areas were wonderful for all of us: relaxation in the cool shade for the adults and space for the kids to run and play. We loved our "dining room" out under the trees. Never needed to use the one in the Farm House. It was all so peaceful. The gardens are lovely! Our hostess was very accommodating and thoughtful. We even found flowers on our dining table. If you like a little "country" with a "comfy" touch, we highly recommend The Farm! Dick and Julie Lindemann

The property is beautiful! Quiet and rural and utterly peaceful in every way. Lots of lovely places to sit outside and listen to the chirping crickets. Easy to get to the plays in Ashland, but lots of room to spread out and relax. So much better than a hotel since we love to cook. And Annette is utterly charming, with suggestions and helpful tips for anything we need, from massages to running trails. Our group of six friends loved it so much the first time that we booked it again for the following year. And we'll be back again!

"We rented the farmhouse for an extended number of months. It is very much like the pictures portray. The property is very well maintained and equipped. Our stay was very enjoyable with a couple of caveats. In a couple of cases, the owner had a difficult time with clear communication on issues that affected our stay. Laundry facilities: Shared facilities in separate building. Our experience was that, even on the days that we had agreed would be open to us, the machines were often unavailable due to owner use. Had a very uncomfortable conversation with Annette upon my very first use that boiled down to her concern that my loads were too small (I thought). While I applaud her energy conservation, she could have simply asked about my laundry habits, learned that the small load in question was a “special” load of business attire that was a very occasional thing and could have avoided this discomfort. Ended up doing laundry elsewhere on several occasions because of these factors. Didn’t find out until after move-out that her real concern was about the level of water in her well and that her husband thought we were using the facilities too often in the beginning, again something that could have been cleared up with a simple, direct conversation about the real issue. We also were disappointed with how she handled move-out. While we were there, I asked on 2 occasions that she chat with us about her expectations on move-out. We had a dog in the house and the inevitable hair shedding combined with her velveteen drapes and other fabrics was cause for concern about additional clean up. Both times she said she’d “look at the lease”, didn't follow up, yet was very quick to email us within a day or two of our departure with full detail. We don’t deny that the dog left hair and this isn’t about a kept portion of the deposit. But it would have been nice to handle this openly while we were there as requested, especially since Annette had very specific expectations of how she wanted the house left.
Owner response:In response I wish to address a couple of the guests concerns. Given the water shortages in the area at that time I feel our request for fewer and larger laundry loads justified. Understandably, if the laundry is not actively being used by a guest on the day agreed, one could rightly (or wrongly) assume it was at my disposal. I apologize for any confusion. Our website and literature reflect our genuine efforts at the conservation of natural resources and our simple requests are not only appreciated and respected but also have a powerful impact on the environment. It is the responsibility of the guest (or tenant) to review the lease and agreements and do what is necessary to comply.Upon request, I paid a brief visit prior to move out, however it is only after a guest departs one can truly assess the property. As per the Pet Addendum, "any evidence of pets on furniture may incur additional cleaning fees". I had no option but to have the furnishings professionally cleaned. We work very hard to offer an exceptional vacation home and I believe any discerning property owner would have done the same. It is our goal to offer our guests the best experience possible and the many five star reviews are testament to that.

My husband, adult daughter, and I spent 4 wonderful nights in the Farm House while visiting the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. The setting is exactly as it appears in the photos and video -- a beautifully decorated, fully renovated, cozy yet spacious Farm House in the most peaceful and natural surroundings. The location was perfect for driving into Ashland (about 15 minutes). The owner is delightful and accommodating and included special touches like fresh flowers and natural bath products. I can't recommend this property enough for a peaceful and calming getaway.

This is a fabulous rental for a couple or a small family. The location is excellent. It is about 15 minutes from downtown Ashland, yet it has the location, sounds and feel of a country retreat. The home is very well maintained, and the beds, bath and living areas were very comfortable. The owners too added to the entire experience. They were welcoming and always available, yet unobtrusive. They had very helpful suggestions for activities in the area and made our entire family feel completely welcome. We will not only recommend this rental to our friends, but we will stay here (if we can) on our next trip to Ashland.
Owner response: Thanks guys, you are welcome anytime ! The Farmhouse is perfect for a family vacation or romantic retreat yet combined the rentals can comfortably accommodate eight adults and two children. A relaxing, private and comfortable choice for group gatherings and family reunions.

A quick drive to Ashland, but a lovely more rural setting. The friendly folks (and their friendly animals) are helpful and welcoming -- without being intrusive (neither the humans nor the beasts). A comfortable bed, fresh flowers, a well-shaded porch...this was an easy place to relax before hitting the theater scene in town.

Quarry Hill Farm is the most tranquil and relaxing place to spend a vacation. It is close enough yet removed enough to enjoy all that the area has to offer. The farmhouse is furnished beautifully and has all the necessities of home away from home. I wish we chose to spend the whole week here instead of breaking or week up. Joe and Annette are the perfect hosts.

Our family vacation was absolutely wonderful. We rented both the farm house and cottage for four days and found both to be comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated, and they welcomed our dog too! Annette and Joe were enjoyable hosts. We enjoyed the close proximity to Ashland where we spent most of our time, but truly enjoyed the tranquil sounds and beauty of nature and found joy in just hanging out. The majestic walnut trees were great to nap and BBQ under and the kids and dog had plenty of room to play. There were also many outdoor adventures in close proximity and we spent one morning on a breathtaking hike. Thanks, we'll be back
Owner response:Unfortunately at this time we no longer accept pets as we have livestock that must take priority. Service dogs are permitted with prior approval. There is a wonderful pet sitting and kennel service in Ashland that I can highly recommend.

As much as we enjoyed staying here, I think our dogs enjoyed it even more. It was great to have a place where the dogs were welcome inside and out. We also enjoyed having a home for our group of 5 to gather in, much better than cramming into a hotel room to socialize. Highly reccommended!
Owner response:As of 2011 we can no longer accommodate your pets, however there are wonderful kennels close by and excellent pet sitting by the day or hour in Ashland. Please inquire.

This is a lovely spot for anyone contemplating a place to stay while visiting the area. We came for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland over 4th of July weekend. I thought QHF would be too far from the plays- I was wrong! It's a short pleasant drive into town on excellent but little-used country roads. The place itself is very clean and charming- it has a porch, multiple outdoor eating areas including a newish gas grill, it even has an outdoor shower! The main indoor bathroom is also exceptionally large with a great shower. Owners are friendly and helpful. They will even let you pet their horses. The quiet and the rural beauty is wonderful. I would definitely recommend it to friends and will visit again if I get the chance.

I had a superb stay in the Farmhouse. Visiting the Shakespeare Festival with my granddaughter from the Bay area. I found the location to be perfect for the tranquility I needed while just a short distance to fine restaurants and the culture of Ashland. My granddaughter especially enjoyed the owner's horses. The home was clean and very comfortable and perfect for soothing my soul. I will be back as often as possible and will highly recommend this to anyone fortunate enough to obtain a booking.

My wife and I chose Quarry Hill Farm to hold our wedding. The photos do not do the farm justice . . . it is really a magical place. Joe and Annette really work hard to provide a wonderful setting. Annette met with us prior to our scheduled date and really went out of her way to answer all our questions and concerns. Somehow Joe & Annette worked their Irish charm on the weather and our day turned out spectacularly. I highly recommend this property. Be sure to say hi to Finn the dog.

The farmhouse is a wonderful getaway with fantastic views. It's peaceful, comfortable and well-appointed. The owners, Joe and Annette, are so friendly and helpful. You fee like you're a world away, yet Ashland is just a few minutes drive. And, Talent, the small town just down the hill, is very cute. And, the market has everything you'll need. If you love animals-- the horses, donkey and friendly dog are a bonus.

My husband and two young children stayed in the Cabin at Quarry Hill Farm in early September and had a wonderful, peaceful, rejuvenating vacation. Easy access to Ashland, Jacksonville, trails, and the freeway, though you won't want to leave. The kids loved watching the horses and petting the donkey. The owners are lovely to talk with, welcoming and gracious. The setting is beautiful and serene. We are all very eager to return.

What a lovely place! It was perfect, quiet and peaceful, and the cabin was just beautiful! I would have been perfectly content hanging out on the porch, reading, looking out over the pastures, enjoying the company of your sweet dog. I loved being outside of Ashland, yet close enough that it was very easy to get into town. I hope to come again, and have already been recommending it to my friends!

We were their first guests and had a great time! It was exactly the relaxing vacation we were looking for: quiet, beautiful and good fun talking to the owners. The cottage looks like something you'd rent in Europe, with every last detail thought out, from fresh eggs from local chickens to a shaded deck and bbq. Although it's not in Ashland proper, its location proved to be ideal. Close enough but far away to have cooler weather in the summer and a local feel. We'll definitely return.

I can highly recommend Quarry Hill Farm as the perfect location for a family/group gathering. Our family rented the cabin, bunkhouse and tipi for a long weekend and we all loved the beautiful location and accomodations. The tipi is has an 'on safari' feel about it, perfect for the two teenagers in our group and the 'western' themed bunkhouse was adorable. The cabin is georgeous and we would congregate under the amazing walnut trees in the evening for a bbq as the sun went down. We have many fond memories and hope to one day return to Quarry Hill.

We had a great vacation at Quarry Hill Farm! The guesthouse is private and cozy with most everything you need including a small kitchen. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the evenings and enjoying the sunlight coming over the hill and through the great trees in the back garden. The location is close enough to Ashland to conveniently partake of the theatre/shopping/dining there, but far enough to enjoy the seclusion of the countryside when you return home. We enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a charming guest house at a reasonable price!
