Beautiful and quiet, this garden apartment is available for you to rent in a grand 1926 Mediterranean style home located in the neighborhood of West Portal, San Francisco. Originally the au pair apartment of this stately home, now refurbished to suit the tastes of modern life, this attractive unit is equipped with WI-FI access to the internet; DISH TV with HBO; and a fully equipped kitchen with microwave and dishwasher (PEET's coffee and teas stocked at all times). For business travelers, a desk with recharging station for your cell phone, blackberry and MP3 player is provided.
The 32" large screen TV is viewable from all aspects of the living and bedroom areas as it rests on a turn-table. DISH TV with HBO should entertain those needing a night off from touristing around the Bay Area. A mini-stereo system awaits your favorite CDs. Your kitchen is fully stocked with a service for four including wine glasses for those "finds" you pick up in the wine country and baking dishes for those wishing to cook up a treat. A counter height table for two in the granite countered kitchen can be augmented with an additional stools upon request for additional guests who can sleep comfortably on the queen size futon sofa. A queen bed, dressed in 600 thread count sheets, awaits your needs. Your third and fourth guest will be an extra fee.

Or if you prefer the Zoo and the beach, 20 minutes in the opposite direction by above ground light rail. West Portal Avenue has 4 major banks, 14 unique and acclaimed restaurants, Starbucks and PEET's cafes, the Cine Arts Empire triplex movie theater, our own bookstore with regular author lectures, laundries, dry-cleaners, nail salons, 1 Irish bar and 1 wine bar. It is the major shopping hub for our community and only 1.5 blocks walking distance from your home. Two hour street parking is plentiful before 6pm and unlimited afterwards. Driveway parking can be arranged at the same home for a fee.

Why the Owner Chose West Portal
After living in San Francisco's busier neighborhoods, we decided on the almost suburban nature of West Portal due to its incredible MUNI transit access. West Portal is a MUNI hub. No place in San Francisco is very far as FOUR trains leave West Portal and travel underground to Market Street. To get to the airport is a 20 minute car ride by shuttle or cab or rental.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio
West Portal is dominated by restaurants. Fourteen have made a name for themselves. You can eat food from Peru, the Near East, India, Italy, Crepes, Japan, Korea, China, Mexico and even California. We have modest and cheap prices. Families will approve. Our Tri-Plex movie theatre, The Empire, is a big draw too. Also, the West Portal Bookstore often has author signings and lectures as well as a children's story hour. So does our local Library, beautifully reconstructed last year in Spanish colonial style. The children's playground located above the tunnel is excellent and clean - I take walks there often.
Newly redesigned infant and toddler playground adjoins picnic and ball game grassy area. Park and Recreation building has daytime activities for children under age 12.

I am an artist and web publisher since 1993. My biggest site is The Visible Embryo on human embryology. Books and magazines on the apartment shelves reflect this interest in science, sci-fi, and mysteries. My miniature dachshund can sometimes be heard running around chasing his pal, a Main Coon cat. Please enjoy the garden outside your door. It is a hobby of mine that sometimes bares fruit, plums, apples and pears. In the spring there will be daffodils this year.
