"We had a FANTASTIC time. Your house, location and surrounding property were amazing. The house itself held our group of 10 perfectly, we had enough room to sleep as well as to sit and connect as friends. The kitchen was fully equipped, so we were able to make huge family-style meals and everyone was able to just relax amongst the beautiful scenery. We found the house to be a great fit for us, and the fact that it was well equipped with everything made our weekend flawless! The weather was beautiful for April (we were expected rainy skies) so we were able to sit outside and even make a great bonfire at night. Thank you, Thank you, thank you! The Cedar Field House was the perfect setting for our mini-reunion and allowed us to not worry about the logistics, and just relax and re-connect as a group. We definitely plan on coming back next year - in fact, everyone kept raving about the house and telling me that I HAD to get it again next year. Most likely it will be the same time of year - late March or early April. Thanks again for everything!"

Cedar Field Vacation House

Why the Owner Chose Eastsound
Orcas Island is a beautiful location for vacationing. There is so much to offer.... whale watching, sea kayaking, hiking, or simply relaxing on Turtleback Mountain and watching the eagles soar. I stepped off the Orcas ferry 8 years ago for the first time and have loved it ever since. The scenery, welcoming community, and closeness to nature makes Orcas a very unique place to visit. Orcas Island has the right combination of a country, sea side, and local charm without the tacky signage and congestion you see elsewhere.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Cedar Field is perfect for multiple families wanting to spend a vacation together under the same roof or... just the right spot for a couple to stay for a quick getaway from the city as a last minute adventure. It is quiet, full of wildlife (bald eagles, turkey vultures, rabbits, deer and horses and cows in the pastures nearby), and panoramic views with ever changing scenic skies. Cedar Field is arranged for a casual vacation... a full kitchen (two kitchens actually) to prepare meals with family and friends and plenty of comfortable seating for conversation and games. The woodstove and fireplace provide a warm evening ambiance.
Only 10 minutes from Cedar Field, this harbor offers whale watching, sea kayaking, and excellent western views of the Wasp Islands; a smaller collection of islands just outside of Deer Harbor.
West Sound is only a little over a mile away from Cedar Field. A nice walk on country lanes. There is a public dock and a great restaurant, King Fish Inn, that has wonderful evening meals.
The Ferry Landing, where you will arrive at Orcas Island, is 5 minutes from Cedar Field. The Ferry Landing also boasts a variety store, small hotel with restaurant, and assorted shops.
Eastsound is the main and largest town on Orcas Island. It is approximately 8 minutes from Cedar Field. There are restaurants, shops, large food market, library, and great views of the Sound!
Moran State Park is over 5000 acres, the largest State Park in the islands and the 4th largest in WA State. 5 lakes. 30 miles of trails. Mt. Constitution rises to 2,407' and offers 360 degree views!

"I wanted to say thank you for a very nice visit to your house and Orcas Island. What a beautiful setting and we loved the island and the various activities. It was fun to hike on Mt. Constitution, visit the farmer's market on Saturday, go out on a whale watching boat, rent kayaks and paddle in the bay, and just eat and visit. We really appreciated the atmosphere of the island and friendliness of the people." -Joy Zahl, Spokane, WA

"Thank you for the fantastic accommodations. The island is majestic, the house is lovely, and the location is beautiful. Between the house and the island itself, along with the sea kayaking, fishing, and sunset from Mt. Constitution, it was the perfect weekend - especially for an east coaster.
