Relax watching the osprey and sunsets at this cozy waterfront cottage. Or lay in the hammock, listening to the seagulls. This cottage sits on a dead end road on a small, private cove overlooking Middle Bay at the top of Casco Bay.
The cove is tidal - with wonderful swimming at high tide just off the beach and with tide pools and rocky islands that appear at low tide for exploring. We love the variation of the cove. At high tide, it is the perfect swimming pool and at low tide, you can listen to the sea gulls dropping clams and crabs on the rocks and explore the tide pools.
If you have a kayak (or decide to rent one locally), you can kayak to the local lobster dock to eat there or bring home your own to cook (cottage has a lobster pot.) You can also kayak out to the rocky ledges and watch the seals as they bask in the sun.
The cottage is a one bedroom, with large living room/dining area, kitchen and bathroom with shower. There is also an outdoor shower and, soon to be added, fenced area for dogs. It has a large yard for tossing a football or playing badminton. There is a picnic table and hammock.
The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, microwave, small TV with DVD, washing machine (no dryer, but a clothes line), toaster oven and coffee maker.
Sunset cove is a peaceful get-a-way, with a perfect balance of ocean and birch trees. A beautiful piece of the Maine coast.
