Our quiet cottage is right on the water, not a road away, not behind another house...right on the water! It also has a beautiful, large, quiet yard where you can lay in the hammock, listening to seagulls, or relax watching the osprey and sunsets. This cozy waterfront cottage sits on a tidal, quiet cove. At high tide, it is the perfect swimming pool and at low tide, you can explore the tide pools. If you are vacationing with extended family or another family, you might want to look at listing # 11932 which is located next door. They can be rented together.
If you have a kayak (or decide to rent one locally), you can kayak to the local lobster dock to eat there or bring home your own to cook (cottage has a lobster pot.) You can also kayak out to the rocky ledges and watch the seals as they bask in the sun or explore the many ocean islands in Middle Bay.
The cottage is a one bedroom, with large living room/dining area, kitchen and bathroom with shower. There is also an outdoor shower and fenced area for dogs. It has a large yard with gas grill. There is a picnic table and hammock.
The cute kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, coffee maker. toaster oven and microwave. The living room has a TV with DVD, wood stove and two pull out couches. We have a washing machine (no dryer, but a clothes line.) We do not have a phone but cell phones work fine. We have wireless.
Sunset Cove is a peaceful get-a-way, with a perfect balance of ocean and birch trees. A beautiful piece of the Maine coast.

- Oceanfront : The cottage is on a dead end road with just a few other houses near by. Very quiet. It sits overlooking the ocean on a private cove, accessible to only a three other cottages.
- Ocean View : You sit about 75 feet back from the high water mark on this beautiful cove on Middle Bay in Casco Bay. Lots of birds to watch and great swimming at high tide (if you can take the cool Maine ocean waters!)

- Pet Friendly : We have a small fenced in yard for dogs and the cove is wonderful for them to run around and explore. There is a great walking area about a mile away for dogs too. We ask for an addition security for dogs which we return if there is no damage to the cottage.
- Kid Friendly : A wonderful place for kids to run in the large yard and explore the private cove. The cove is tidal with great swimming at high tide and awesome tide pools for exploring at low tide.

Year Purchased: 2007
Bridget grew up in Maine and now lives in New Hampshire with her family. Rob grew up on the ocean on Long Island, NY. They all love the ocean. Bridget's parents bought a cottage in Harpswell almost 15 years ago and introduced them to this quiet, beautiful hidden piece of Casco Bay. Bridget and Rob decided to purchase a cottage to bring their own children to and found the peaceful spot at Sunset Cove. Every year, we save a few weeks for ourselves to vacation in the cottage and they are the most anticipated weeks of the year.
Why the Owner Chose Harpswell (N,S,E&W)
Harpswell is quiet and beautiful. We love the ocean in Maine but wanted to be away from the crowds of tourists. We explore the coves with our bikes and the islands with our kayaks. It is near Portland and Freeport and Brunswick is a fun little town with theater, fun stores and summer festivals.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
We love the peace of our dead end road. We rarely see other people when we are there as the yards are big enough between houses. We love eating lobster that we get by kayaking to the lobster docks or driving to the end of Rt 123. The sunsets and water views are breathtaking.

This cottage was quite secluded, had great ocean views. We brought our spotting scope and watched the seals sunning on rock outcroppings right from the deck. The cottage was very clean and comfortable for two people. We did a lot of kayaking right from the beach. This property provides easy access to the water and there are lots of small islands to explore. All in all we had a very peaceful, relaxing vacation. Great lobsters purchased right from the dock only a few miles away. We will definitely recommend this cottage to others. It would be fine for families with small children as the beach is nice,and the water is quite shallow. I hope we can come back next summer!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.
