Our family enjoyed 3 relaxing and very peaceful days in this well-appointed cabin. The view was spectacular at all times of the day, in sunlight as well as in the gentle rain. The cabin offered a great base for kicking back, hiking, biking, and day touring the island. In the well stocked kitchen, all the essentials were present in abundance for preparing some memorable meals. There was also an abundant supply of current books, movies, games, and a sound system. Outside was a terrific fire pit with an ample supply of dry firewood. Under the deck was a well kept hot tub with a view of the the passing ferries. The cabin is just up the hill from the ferry dock. For some of our party, it was a real convience for getting in the ferry line early and walking back to the cabin. All-in-all, it was a most enjoyable stay. We are already planning next years stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We've visited Lopez Island for several years, and this is by far the best cabin we've found. It is separated from the road by a short distance of woods, with large decks and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. Ferries are visible in the distance a dozen or more times a day, a rocky beach and dock just below, and your pick of a hot tub and two fireplaces to stay warm (which is not to say there was anything wrong with the furnace, baths, kitchen etc -- all was very well taken care of!)Recommended for: Families with young children.

We recently stayed at this house while taking a 'girl-cation.' What a terrific time we all had. One of our main adventures was biking everyday. We couldn't have asked for a better location - .4 miles from the ferry terminal, yet still off the busy road. We had several cars, and there was room for all 6 to park (although not much left over.) Although there is a dock, I'm not sure if you can pull a boat up to it or not (I never saw the shore at hight tide.) The view/deck was amazing! Some parts of the house were older, but everything was very clean and worked. It was nice having TV available for the one gal with recent knee surgery. Washer and dryer were not available for use. This was the only thing we missed, especially after a week of biking. I would certainly recommend this place, especially for the price. Fabulous! The group has even talked about returning! Thanks so much for the outstanding memories.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My sisters and I stayed in this cabin on Lopez Island for four nights. The cabin is close to the ferry and to all the restaurants and store in town. There is one bedroom and bath on each of three floors so we each had great accommodations and plenty of privacy. The cabin faces mostly east so we did not have afternoon sun on the deck, which was disappointing only because all four mornings we were there were foggy and cold. So we missed the sun. If one stayed there in high summer there would be more sun on the deck. But we build a fire each night in the fire place in the very comfortable living room.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family and I weeded thru many homes on all the islands and then somehow settled on Lopez. Then we found this home. The perfect bedroom set up for a mixture of adults and kids. My family flew in from the east coast (ny and md) to spend the week. We, from Seattle, hadn't had a vacation in a long time! The home owners couldn't have been nicer and you could just tell how much love there is for this home. It was inviting and clean and well stocked. We fell in love with Lopez Island and can't wait to get back! If you are looking for an awesome rental, this is it!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We went up to the San Juans for the weekend and it was nothing short of absolutely amazing. We had sun and warmth (in April!), but even if we had not, this place is PERFECT for a larger group. It's huge, and full of everything you could want or need. Groups smaller than 5 may find it large for their needs, but we were in heaven. We enjoyed a view of the sunrise, a warm hot tub, stories by the fire, ping pong in the basement, grilling on the deck, and wide open spaces upstairs. The home is warm and inviting, in great condition, but you also don't feel the need to be overly extremely delicate. It's a home obviously treated with great love, and you can sense it. We felt comfortable either kicking back and enjoying it's amenities, or engaging in the adventuresome setting around us. It's close to the ferry dock, which was super convinient since we had several cars coming. There is also a huge park about a mile away (totally walkable) that is on the WEST side of the island, so you can walk there for sunset and enjoy a grassy field, reach sandy beach, and a dock you can jump off. We'll be coming back for YEARS to come! What a blessing. :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This home is in the perfect location... literally right on the water, with views of passing ferries and other boats. On your last day, just drive your car out to the end of the driveway to get into the ferry line. Then you can walk back into the house and relax until it's time to leave. So convenient! This home has an exceptionally well-appointed kitchen, with sufficient dishes, cookware, and appliances to whip up just about anything you desire. There is even a large electric griddle (very nice for making big breakfasts) and a slow cooker! Staying with a toddler and an infant, we appreciated the portable crib and highchair (not all places have those items). There are always plenty of clean towels, so no worries about running out. I've stayed three times and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. In the summer, soak up the sunshine out on the deck. In the winter, cozy up inside and enjoy a little storm-watching. Either way, this place is a winner. We plan to come back again and again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have had the pleasure of staying at this place several times and the experience keeps getting better. The house is immaculate yet still maintains a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The view is incredible. We have been there with an extended family and everyone--young children included--have enjoyed the experience. Conveniently located near the ferry dock (yet far enough away to not be impacted by the traffic or noise), it is a perfect launching point to explore and experience Lopez Island. Having stayed at numerous vacation rentals before, this is far and away our favorite. We are already looking forward to our return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I'll break this review into 5 parts: fauna, house, owners, neighbors, ferry Fauna: - Crabbing is phenomenal here, but you need to bring your own boat/pots - The mussels were not as thick as on other islands - There's a group of River otters living across the way, and they play in the water most early mornings...totally cute - The kingfishers are very loud in the morning, but make for an interesting display with your coffee - If you boat, there is a harbor Seal that likes to follow you around. Really neat - If you're into shell collection, there is a lot of snails & hermit crabs with intricate shells - No oysters House - Very large home, with many amenities - They have a dock, but no access to boating from it - 70s/older decor - 1 of 2 grills on the deck are dedicated to the renters, but it did not work - There is no washer/dryer for renters - Hot tub & fire ring - Home was clean when we got there, and is maintained - We really didn't leave the home often except to do some biking - Pictures in listing are extremely accurate Owners - They stayed with us for the first night, in the other house on the property...but this is not unheard of on the San Juans...so be expectant that this might occur - Owners were helpful in answering questions about the property before renting - Owners were very helpful in pointing out restaurants and attractions on Lopez - Owners were very friendly Neighbors - We got yelled at by a neighbor for pulling a mussel off of a buoy. They can be protective, so be aware - In order to launch your boat, you need to put out on a shared beach. Make sure to talk to the house of the shared beach before launching to make sure its acceptable. Ferry - The ferry is within walking distance (10 minute walk) - Makes for awesome pictures at night with the reflections off the water - The horn can be loud in the mornings if there is fog All in all, a great experience. There are better places to rent on the other San Juans for the same price, but this one is suited to larger parties. There are pictures on the walls with 20+ people, and you could comfortably sleep more.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Most of our guests who have stayed in our Cabin, know how much we love our home on Lopez Island. We take great pride in making your vacation with us a memorable and enjoyable experience. In the 4 years we have owned our (little slice of Heaven) Cabin, we have never had a guest review with less than a 5/5 rating, so it is difficult not to take it personally when someone is not completely satisfied. In terms of value, we did a great deal of research to determine our rate structure, and believe that a full calendar from May through the fall speaks for itself.

After returning from an Alaskan Cruise our family loved the time we spent relaxing on Lopez Island. We enjoyed seeing the seals, deer, and humming birds all from the comfort of sitting on the back deck overlooking the water. The kids enjoyed the ping pong table, the roasting of marshmallows in the fire pit, and the selection of movies to watch on the two TVs. The only complaint the kids had was there was no wi-fi and I had hoped there would have been a hair dryer but I couldn't find one and unfortunately I didn't pack one either. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying here on Lopez Island.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the suggestion- we now have a hair dryer for your convenience.
