We went up to the San Juans for the weekend and it was nothing short of absolutely amazing. We had sun and warmth (in April!), but even if we had not, this place is PERFECT for a larger group. It's huge, and full of everything you could want or need. Groups smaller than 5 may find it large for their needs, but we were in heaven. We enjoyed a view of the sunrise, a warm hot tub, stories by the fire, ping pong in the basement, grilling on the deck, and wide open spaces upstairs. The home is warm and inviting, in great condition, but you also don't feel the need to be overly extremely delicate. It's a home obviously treated with great love, and you can sense it. We felt comfortable either kicking back and enjoying it's amenities, or engaging in the adventuresome setting around us. It's close to the ferry dock, which was super convinient since we had several cars coming. There is also a huge park about a mile away (totally walkable) that is on the WEST side of the island, so you can walk there for sunset and enjoy a grassy field, reach sandy beach, and a dock you can jump off. We'll be coming back for YEARS to come! What a blessing. :)

We have had the pleasure of staying at this place several times and the experience keeps getting better. The house is immaculate yet still maintains a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The view is incredible. We have been there with an extended family and everyone--young children included--have enjoyed the experience. Conveniently located near the ferry dock (yet far enough away to not be impacted by the traffic or noise), it is a perfect launching point to explore and experience Lopez Island. Having stayed at numerous vacation rentals before, this is far and away our favorite. We are already looking forward to our return.

This home is in the perfect location... literally right on the water, with views of passing ferries and other boats. On your last day, just drive your car out to the end of the driveway to get into the ferry line. Then you can walk back into the house and relax until it's time to leave. So convenient! This home has an exceptionally well-appointed kitchen, with sufficient dishes, cookware, and appliances to whip up just about anything you desire. There is even a large electric griddle (very nice for making big breakfasts) and a slow cooker! Staying with a toddler and an infant, we appreciated the portable crib and highchair (not all places have those items). There are always plenty of clean towels, so no worries about running out. I've stayed three times and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. In the summer, soak up the sunshine out on the deck. In the winter, cozy up inside and enjoy a little storm-watching. Either way, this place is a winner. We plan to come back again and again.

After returning from an Alaskan Cruise our family loved the time we spent relaxing on Lopez Island. We enjoyed seeing the seals, deer, and humming birds all from the comfort of sitting on the back deck overlooking the water. The kids enjoyed the ping pong table, the roasting of marshmallows in the fire pit, and the selection of movies to watch on the two TVs. The only complaint the kids had was there was no wi-fi and I had hoped there would have been a hair dryer but I couldn't find one and unfortunately I didn't pack one either. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying here on Lopez Island.
Owner response:Thank you for the suggestion- we now have a hair dryer for your convenience.

My family and I were extremely impressed with the property, the house and the accomodations. Not only was the house beautiful, it was everything and more than we expected. The views from each level of the house provided hours of scenic pleasure. Watching the ferries from the warmth of the house was an enjoyable experience. We took many excursions to explore the island. One such excursion was a hike in which we were able to do some whale and sea lion watching. Not only was the walk enjoyable but at the end of the trek we had the awesome surprise of catching a group of sea lions sunning themselves. Then as we were watching them we noticed across the way a group of whales spouting. I only wish we had high powered lens for our cameras. Our food experiences were exceptional. We ate at the "Love Dog Cafe" for dinner and then breakfast the next morning. It alone is worth a trip to Lopez Island. Even though we took our trip in the winter we were able to find much to do!! The coffee shop, Caffe la Boheme, was a favorite stop for us. All in all, the trip was one of our best ever!! We loved the house and the island!! Definitely, worth the trip!!!!

I'll break this review into 5 parts: fauna, house, owners, neighbors, ferry Fauna: - Crabbing is phenomenal here, but you need to bring your own boat/pots - The mussels were not as thick as on other islands - There's a group of River otters living across the way, and they play in the water most early mornings...totally cute - The kingfishers are very loud in the morning, but make for an interesting display with your coffee - If you boat, there is a harbor Seal that likes to follow you around. Really neat - If you're into shell collection, there is a lot of snails & hermit crabs with intricate shells - No oysters House - Very large home, with many amenities - They have a dock, but no access to boating from it - 70s/older decor - 1 of 2 grills on the deck are dedicated to the renters, but it did not work - There is no washer/dryer for renters - Hot tub & fire ring - Home was clean when we got there, and is maintained - We really didn't leave the home often except to do some biking - Pictures in listing are extremely accurate Owners - They stayed with us for the first night, in the other house on the property...but this is not unheard of on the San Juans...so be expectant that this might occur - Owners were helpful in answering questions about the property before renting - Owners were very helpful in pointing out restaurants and attractions on Lopez - Owners were very friendly Neighbors - We got yelled at by a neighbor for pulling a mussel off of a buoy. They can be protective, so be aware - In order to launch your boat, you need to put out on a shared beach. Make sure to talk to the house of the shared beach before launching to make sure its acceptable. Ferry - The ferry is within walking distance (10 minute walk) - Makes for awesome pictures at night with the reflections off the water - The horn can be loud in the mornings if there is fog All in all, a great experience. There are better places to rent on the other San Juans for the same price, but this one is suited to larger parties. There are pictures on the walls with 20+ people, and you could comfortably sleep more.
Owner response:Most of our guests who have stayed in our Cabin, know how much we love our home on Lopez Island. We take great pride in making your vacation with us a memorable and enjoyable experience. In the 4 years we have owned our (little slice of Heaven) Cabin, we have never had a guest review with less than a 5/5 rating, so it is difficult not to take it personally when someone is not completely satisfied. In terms of value, we did a great deal of research to determine our rate structure, and believe that a full calendar from May through the fall speaks for itself.

We congregated in this lovely waterfront property for a family reunion, age range 8 - 80. Some of us came down from BC and the rest of us flew the Atlantic (Ireland) for this occasion and boy was it worth it. The house was lovely, the location was sublime, the natives were great and the wildlife was incredible.

This vacation spot was about as perfect as it gets. The house is absolutely beautiful - the pics don't do it justice. My family of 4 could not have been happier with the location and access to everything the San Juans have to offer. The owners are very cool and are looking for you to have a great time. We did some crabbing and my kids thought it was fantastic. The hot tub was the exclamation point on a geat week in Washington!

We brought 10 guys to Lopez to celebrate my son's birthday and had a great time. The rental was clean, had nice amenities, and plenty of room. There is a wonderful, large deck where you can sit and enjoy the amazing view of the sound. Easy access to the water. Close to the ferries. We will definitely go back! Highly recommended.

This is a great vacation spot. Great house, view, and setting. House is well stocked. We only needed food and clothes, as everything else was supplied. We plan on returning as soon and often as we can. We enjoyed the sunrises, eagles, and tide pools. Our family and friends had a truly outstanding time.
