For a lot of years Donna wanted to go to Hawaii. I always resisted. My concept of Hawaii was: Honolulu is just another big city. Finally, a few years ago her instincts prevailed. As usual Donna was correct.
We decided to try it and strictly by chance the condo we rented was in Kaanapali on West Maui. The unit was on the ground floor, allowing us to walk out to the lawn, the pool area and the ocean. We could sit on the lanai with afternoon cocktails and watch the sunset over the islands of Molokai and Lanai. Behind the unit we could go across the street and purchase large Protea flowers and fresh produce from the Farmers Market. If we did not want to enjoy one of the great, convenient, restaurants we could also go across the street and purchase fresh fish to prepare on the poolside grills.
After a couple of days Donna said “Jerry, I don’t think I am going home”. “And if I do we need to buy a place here so we can come back”. So we did. Now we have a destination for an escape from Midwest Winters and we have been able to share it with friends, old and new.
So, that is our story and this is our place in Hawaii. If you decide to visit we are sure you will enjoy.
Our one bedroom Papakea Resort Condominium is a first floor walk-out unit. The Living room has a wall of mirrors which reflect all the outside beauty of Papakea no matter where you are in the condo. From the lanai there is a great view of the ponds, the palm and bamboo trees and tropical foliage. You can view the sunsets over the islands of Molokai and Lanai and night time gas lites among the palm trees create an idyllic tropical setting. There is a putting green within a few feet of the lanai door and the pool and whirlpool are just beyond, next to the ocean. The condo accommodates two to four people and is equipped with everything you will need for your Hawaii vacation. The unit is very comfortable with subtly stated island décor.
Papakea Resort is located on North Kaanapali Beach, and has many amenities. The Papakea Resort has been awarded the Five Star award since 1987 by Interval International, one of the largest travel organizations in the world. The resort has an Activity Desk and Concierge to take care of your every need. Papakea condominiums have a commanding ocean view of the islands of Molokai and Lanai. Papakea has 13 acres of lush gardens with tropical koi ponds. It has the smallest number of units on one of the largest acreages of any resort in Kaanapali. Use of the tennis courts, putting greens and pools/hot tubs make your time as relaxing or as busy as you choose.
