the neighborhood is very safe and nice, supermarkets, groceries.... Probably the best part of the apartment was the personal attention from the owners. They answered my many emails as we were preparing for our trip and gave me so much information about flamenco, bull fights, etc. The apartment was very clean, bright and well equipped. As expected there was noise from outside in the evening, and it is a hike up and down the stairs, but this apartment is worth the effort. We were able to cook and clean and relax then go out and explore. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends, and would love to come back again and stay here!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

Calle Gran Via is a perfect place to stay in Madrid if you are interested in being in the Centro section of the city, close to the most important attractions in Madrid, museums..., but close to transportation links, etc. This area is full of great places to eat and other entertainment establishments ( tapas and dinner - you will be glad you did). And it's short walk to the Prado, where my family and I spent a lot of time during our visit to Madrid. The owners, could not have been nicer.. They were a font of information re places to go and and things to see. Nice folks indeed. The apartment is a perfect size for a big family to have plenty of space to roam. Large kitchen, well equipped. Our breakfasts in the apartment, with amazing views over the Gran Via were magnificent! We also enjoyed the tour bus that stops in front of the apartment. We absolutely recommend this apartmentRecommended for: Families with young children.

We were a party of two families with children, total of eight people. It seemed to be the only apartment available to accommodate us as I was searching for one in the city center. The apt has only one air conditioned room. We had the windows open in bedrooms at night and it was extremely hot and noisy. The apt has small kitchen with no ventilation. After we cooked a dinner the whole apt smelled for two days with food. For request to provide a kettle to boil water the owner replied "tea is not a tradition in Spain". Only one towel was provided for each person for all four days. Two elevators in the building were working irregularly. We had to walk up and down the steps to the seventh floor as both elevators were out of service at least five times during our stay. There is a hostel in the building on the third floor and young visitors to the hostel kept on leaving the door of the elevators open thus shutting down the service. Both elevators are old. The building has a scaffolding which prevented the view of Plaza de Espana. This fact was not mentioned by the owner at the time of the booking. There are four buildings in immediate proximity to 73 Gran Via that are abandoned developments with boarded ground floor windows and graffiti. Not very pleasant vicinity to be in. Overall I would not recommend staying in this apartment for families traveling with children.Owner response: With these three families, not two, as they say .. we had some problems with them, they said they were 8 people, but they were 10 people (said they would use camping mats). This is a selfcatering apartment as all apartments, and they wanted to make the cleaning the apart. daily as in a hotel. He lied throughout the review. The kitchen is not small,it is fully equipped and of course it has a double window giving light and ventilation (as seen in the photos). There have been little works of building facade cleaning, but it is not problem for the correct use of the apartment. The area is one of the best areas of Madrid, the GRAN VIA! and of course there is no abandoned buildings. In fact someone is being restored as always during summers in Europe. They were very dirty, a lot of garbage bags left inside the apartment. Air conditioning and fans are sufficient. There are two elevators in the building, one modern and one old design, but both work perfectly. The concierge and part of neighborhood complained about noise on the stairs and elevators by their children, they were up and down the stairs screaming throughout. The building has security cameras.

Owners were very nice to deal with, responding quickly before and during our family vacation in Madrid. Location is great, easy walk to Plaza Mayor, Sol, and others. Apartment was clean and had plenty of space for 5 of us. Major problem, though, was the noise -- constant sirens of policia and ambulances, street traffic, and pedestrians, even on the 7th floor, even at 3am, made it really hard for any of us to sleep. Zero noise proofing of windows/walls. If sleep is important to you, think twice. If you're out partying all night anyway, then this apartment is great,Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are sorry very much they didn´t rest very well. We noticed that the balcony doors were always open and not using the blinds to isolate the light and noise. That way it is logical to have some noise. Their dates coincided with The Carnival, known worldwide, and Madrid was a party. Our apartment is very central! And the cultural and social interest is all around. Finally we want to say, we were always attentive to them and their needs.

We had a group of people staying in Madrid for a conference and this apartment was a perfect place to stay. The location is wonderful with easy access to all of the necessities and lots of sites to see within walking distance. We even had nice walks to the Madrid Atletico stadium (Vicente Calderon Stadium) and Museo Nacional del Prado from the apartment. The apartment was also clean and comfortable, not to mention it has an excellent view of Plaza de Espana. The owners/managers were so friendly and really great to work with as well. I would definitely stay here again if I ever went back to Madrid! I could not have asked for a better experience with my first vacation rental!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

I have traveled to Madrid on several occasions for both business and pleasure. This time I went was for a combination of both, and instead of staying at a hotel I decided to stay in an apartment. I'm very glad i did! This apartment had breathtaking views, and was a great space to play and work. It was big, bright and had all the comforts of a five star hotel, yet wasn't nearly as expensive, and also had a lot more allure. I was in the center of town and could enjoy it, or shut it out if I wanted to. I had a small dinner party at the apartment and even the people from Madrid were impressed, and I closed a deal I'd been working on for months. I highly recommend staying here!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

Summary of positives - helpful hosts, amazing location, large apartment Summary of negatives - aircon only in living room, no Wifi, it is not as modern as a hotel In full - it was very easy to meet and talk with the hosts (2 sisters); they gave a lot of helpful information; we also left a passport behind and they forwarded it to us in Barcelona with no problem; this is a better than average Spanish apartment with some interesting and fun decor; however, it is not modern and stylish compared to a hotel; for example, the quality of linen and furnishings is just acceptable, but everything works just fine; it's quite large and the kitchen is large and useful, although we didn't cook anything; we had 4 adults, and I think you could probably cope with 4 couples staying here; the location is extremely close to the metro and to plenty of tourist sites and restaurants; there are lifts so accessibility is no problem; having 2 full bathrooms is great, but they got hot and steamy; the best place to sleep in a week where the temperature usually was max 38 and min 25 was the airconditioned lounge room; ceiling fans can only do so much!; as Aussies, we were okay with the heat; it's an extremely busy road, so there is noise at all times of day, but we didn't find it a big intrusion I recommend this place for 4-6 people who want a big home and save some money, needing access to all kinds of tourism, clubs, restaurants, shops; but be careful if you can't tolerate heat, it can still be hot during the peak of summerRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

Keep looking for another rental before you book this apartment!! The apartment is ideally located with wonderful view of the Plaza de España, but is far from being a luxury building that is renowned in Madrid. The apartment does have beautiful views but is not at all what you need for enjoying a quiet and relaxing holiday. The apartment is advertised has having a fully equipped kitchen but the dishwasher does not work and some of the dishes were not cleaned when we took them out of the cupboard. The bedrooms and the bathrooms are tidy but not very clean. The bedrooms were dusty with linen that have should have been replaced a long time ago. The bathrooms could use a good scrubbing and the bath towels smelled and also should have been replaced too. The large sitting, TV area and dining room again are advertised as high quality designed but are not! The furniture is sun bleached and worn out. The plastic flowers arrangements are old and dusty. The lamps had no light bulbs. There was no VCR or private hot tub. This apartment is not elegant and had this been a hotel we would have left for another hotel. I would not recommend this property.Owner response: after several years working with our apartments, we think the experience with these tenants was terrible. They paid the booking deposit at first when they confirmed the apartment, but they didn´t want to pay the balance when we gave them the keys. We had to go to the apartment for 4 times to get it. At first they told us they were going to be 7 people, and they were 9 people, when the apartment is for 8 people max. They came from Barcelona, very complainants. They complained about everything.Looking for defects to avoid paying the rent. The furnitures were bought 2 years, they are new. The apartment in calle Gran Via 73, is one of the best apartments in Madrid on other tenants opinions. We are a family with 6 apartments and we are very professional. This remainds me a family in a restaurant who after drink the bottle of wine, said to the waiter “ we didn´t like it, Could you change it for another trade?” They threatened us to write and send a terrible review. It is unfair that someone can Write whatever they want without a honest reason.

The quality of this old world style apartment was wonderful. Location as stated in other comments is fantastic. We felt very safe late into the night walking in this area, the bars, restaurants and stores were just what we were looking for. Mireia meet us as planned and was responsive to any questions we had. Our visit was June 13-19, not too warm, but the AC worked well when we needed it. We had two adults and 5 teenagers and felt there was plenty of room for all. The only thing that kept this apartment from an "excellent" rating was that the beds are quite uncomfortable, very stiff, thin pad on a board that even the teenagers commented on. Also we were not told the dishwasher was broken, there was a note inside that said it was out of order...not a big deal as the teenagers rolled up their sleeves. We would recommend this property to friends and relatives.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

We just returned from a very nice rental experience at this property. It was as advertised, and including an excellent location. Plenty of shopping (grocery store a little way up the street), and metro stop at the door. Within walking distance of most of the main sights. VERY nice landlords! They were very helpful before we came, and gave us excellent tips on food once we arrived. We were myself and my husband, and our daughter and son-in-law. Plenty of space for us, including two full bathrooms, but there is also another full bedroom. All the amenities to make our stay just what we wanted. It would have been nice to have BBC or CNN available, but it didn't stop us from enjoying watching FCBarcelona beat Manchester United while listening, with the windows open, to cheers from surrounding bars when Barcelona scored! Beautiful Plaza de Espagna just across the street. We would definitely stay there again were we in Madrid, and we liked Miera and her family so much that, when we are in next in Venice, we'll see if we can rent their place there!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, people with disabilities.
