Charming, renovated MOUNTAIN HIGH sits approx. 3000 ft. ASL, borders the Nat'l Forest and is easily accessed right off Hwy 151(paved road). The gated drive is lined by tall Hemlocks, Oaks, Poplars, & Rhododendrons, winding to the house and guest house/gameroom. Tranquil and private, there's plenty of space for the kids to play!

Hardwood floors, stained glass, stone walls, antiques, a window wall, stone fireplace (gas) are just some of the unique features in Mountain High. The recently renovated fully equipped kitchen(all new appliances w/ dishwasher) opens conveniently into the dining area where a large oak table looks out on the forest and hills.

Comfortable beds(luxury bedding)are a priority! On one side of the house are 3 bedrooms, 2 with new queen pillowtops...Master has queen, Guest suite also queen - has attached bedroom with trundle bed. Off the hall between is 1 full bath. A comfy futon in the 4th bedroom and 2nd bath (with washer/dryer) makes an ideal family setup...sleeps 8.
Across the driveway and down a few steps, the campfire site beckons eager children waiting to play in the creek or roast marshmallows.

Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous place with us. You did a fantastic job with Creekside! And the area is gorgeous. We had a fabulous day hiking Mt Pisgah and seeing a few of the waterfalls of Transylvania County. And the kids enjoyed Sliding Rock, though I didn't fare so well there! : ) And your beautiful home was the perfect way to start and end each day. From a relaxing breakfast next to the creek, with hummingbirds all around us, to an evening around the fire, we will never forget it.

All in all a fantastic trip. One we plan to repeat for sure!

Dear Jan and Keith,
We had such a wonderful time at your house, I dont' even know where to start!!! What a beautiful home, what a beautiful area!!! It was so wonderful! The house had everything we needed, it was so nice to be able to cook and have access to everything we needed, from pots and pans to utensils, etc. Everything was so comfortable, it was like being at home (although in a much nicer location! :) ) We loved both houses. The guest house was perfect for my husband and I and our dogs. We had a surprise weekend for my mother in law's 60th birthday, and she could not have been more thrilled. We will definitely be using your house again for family get together's! Thank you again for your hospitality and kindness.

Jan and Keith,

We had our yearly highly anticipated visit to Mountain High and Creekside this year. The weather was perfect and the lodging incredible!!! We spent a great deal of time playing pool and sitting on the three season porch playing cards and games. We have never felt as relaxed as we do listening to the brook flow and babble!
Our grandson thinks certain things are there just for him every year. He really enjoys the hammock in the woods up the road and heads toward it first thing. And the wide screen TV and entertainment system just make his cartoons the best thing ever and he truly loves the bonfire area with the benches.....
The Stephenson's could not be better hosts, they give us a great experience every year, each one better than the last......
Everyone is already talking about our visit next April...Can't wait

  • Hi Jan, We did enjoy our stay in Asheville. Your cabin was very comfortable and clean. I've been meaning to email you sooner but I came home with an unwanted bug. I feel better today and was happy to hear from you. All in all it was very relaxing. The amenities were excellent and we were very surprised with all the linens and soaps and things. The wedding was beautiful and quite memorable. The kids(I still call them kids) were very happy with the internet availability. Marjorie

  • Jan and Keith, We had a wonderful time at your mountain home! What a surprise for the one sister on her birthday. All eight brother's and sister's were there to greet her as she pulled into the drive. The creek was fantastic and the firepit was a special place to roast marshmellows and hotdogs. We all gathered each evening in creekside for meals and a game of pool. Coming home from the mountain one evening two dogs followed us back and after contacting the owner, found out they were BEAR hunting dogs. You can't find that just anywhere! We hired a professional photographer to come up to the cabin on Saturday and found so many wonderful places to have family pictures taken. Although the creek was cold some could not resist having their picture taken IN the creek! Anything anyone could possibly want was available at your wonderful and cozy home. Thank you so much for allowing us to visit. Hopefully we will be returning soon. The Hester family

  • Hi, Jan, Our family had a WONDERFUL time at Mountain High and Creekside. It was a beautiful setting and there was something for each of us to enjoy. Our 4 and 3 year old "grands" really liked the creek and the campfire. My husband and son really enjoyed the pool table, and it was fun listening to them make up the rules as they played. We hiked along the trail off 151 but didn't get too far with the little ones. We really enjoyed the pictures showing the stages of the home's development. You've really worked hard to have a great place. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Linda

  • We rented both the Mountain High and Cabin Creek and were thoroughly pleased with both. The beauty of the area was wonderful and the quietness was just what we needed. We had ages from 17 months to 90 years old and everyone had a wonderful time. We did enjoy the area around but mainly we stayed at the cabins and enjoyed each other. Your house and game room were so clean and comfortable! Just like home! We had a woderful time! Some of the highlights of our trip would have to be catching crawdads ,making mud pies and cooking smores in the fire pit area.Playing games and eating on the nice screened porch while listening to the crackle of the creek was so relaxing! Sliding rock WOW that was the best natural HIGH ever! We cant forget the tour of the elegant biltmore estate!What a trip and we only got to touch the surface of all of the things we could have done if we had more time!So we cant wait untill we have the opportunity to come back to your perfect spot again!   • Dear Jan and Keith, Our extended family had a wonderful week at your lovely Mountain High and Creekside home. We had the best of all possible locations, being close to Asheville and Hendersonville with their shopping, restaurants, museums, golf, and Biltmore. Being actually in Pisgah National Forest provided opportunities for hiking and touring the Blue Ridge Parkway. Best of all, your home was so welcoming and well appointed, we could have just spent the entire week there. Creekside with it's wonderful screened porch was our favorite spot for the nights we chose to dine in; the great room with it's pool table and many games was terrific.   • Hi Jan and Keith: We had high expectations after reading all the positive comments on the website - - but your home was even better than we anticipated! The location was great - very private, right next to the Pisgah Forest, but a quick and easy drive to Asheville. The house was warm and inviting. I didn't want to leave. Thank you. Don't be surprised if all my neighbors call you once I spread the word!
