Bed & Breakfast Pine Valley is located in the North of Auckland, about 20 minutes away, yet in a total rural tranquility. It is very conveniently located bing close enough to commute to the city but also in the hub of Northern country to explore the both coasts. There are 3 ensuite rooms and a separate 1 bedroom cottage to let. We normally operate as B&B but you can also rent the whole house and/or cottage for vaction rental if the schedule meet.
The house is a 100 year old traditional New Zealand Villa updated to modern conveniences with very high ceiling in the common area. It is decorated with combination of modern and antique furniture and original art in every wall. It is very relaxing and inviting with many books and green scenery all around. You can view the massive garden from every windows of this house.
We have a maturel vegetable garden as well as a large greenhouse and try to cook as organic as possible. Our Kiwi/Californian breakfast is very poplular and we host various cooking classes occasionally. As the greenhouse is equipped with sound and lighting, it can hold up to 60 people for parties and meetings. With a surrounding patio space, it is perfect for weddings, dinner parties and various classes small or large.
There is a small stream crossing the property, which is surrounded by famous New Zealand native bush. We created a 1 km walking trail along this stream where you can enjoy light hiking or bird and plant watching. It is fun for kids and adults alike.
With so many places to explore and enjoy in the northern Auckland, our B&B will be a perfect place to nest and relax for your holiday.

Rate Details (In New Zealnd Dollar)
For B&B stay, ensuite room charge ranges from NZ$175 to 295 for double occupancy.
Cottage is NZ$295/night. NZ$40/night for additional person in all rooms.
Rental of the main house(4 bedrooms 5 baths): NZ$595/night and NZ$3300/week.
Rental of Cottage only: NZ$245/night or NZ$1285/week. All taxes included.
Minimum stay is 2 nights and further discount for longer stay.
Cancellation must be made 3 days prior to the check in date.

We are from San Francisco, California. My husband is a designer and owns a modern furniture business. We love to travel especially to Europe and Asia but a few years ago landed in New Zealand for the first time and fell in love. Because we have a very busy life in SanFrancisco, the quiet and relaxed life in beautiful nature in New Zealand was magnetically attractive. We are now slowly trying to move our main residence to New Zealand.
We are of very mixed race, American, Japanese, Chinese, and our newest addition, African (our beloved Riddgeback) and we speak English (our common language), Japanese, Chinese, and some Italian. We love to eat and cook as organic as possible. We also love to collect art and shopping for antique or odd objects. We have friends and relatives from all over the world and hoping to get visits from all of them to our wonderful house in New Zealand.
Why the Owner Chose Silverdale
We fell in love with this house as soon as we saw it. It is elegant but modest looking as we drive in but quite large and gorgeous with very high ceiling inside. It is an authentic New Zealand house with definite character. It was built 100 years ago in the city and moved to the farmland, then a new wing was added by the former owners. Its 13 acre landscape is breathtakingly beautiful with green rolling hills and native bush along a creek. We could never afford anything remotely wonderful as this in San Francisco where we came from, we all thought, and immediately sign the contract.
We are getting close to our retiring age but have a young adopted daughter from China. New Zealand is ideal for raising children as well as getting old and enjoy slower paced life. For us, it is a wonderland with pure and beautiful nature, kind and sincere people, and moderate sane political stance.
We still travel quite a bit around the world as so many New Zealanders do. But we have not yet seen many places as nice and balanced in all aspects of life as here and we believe many savvie travellers would agree.
The Unique Benefits of this Bed and Breakfast
I must say the the house and its setting is the best feature of this property. The house is an authentic turn of the century New Zealand villa and the vegetation surrounding is just gorgeous. It is very private and tranquil, hard not to melt down into total relaxation. You wake up in the morning with so many different kinds of birds chirping, go to bed with millions of stars filling the night. It is almost hard to believe that the largest city in New Zealand is only 20 minutes away. Our walking trail is truly beautiful, our greenhouse with full kitchen is wonderful to entertain and you have enough fun just staying in. But if you would like to explore, there are many many activities for kids and adults as described on this site and you will never run out of things to do here.
