Great Family Vacation
Great Family Vacation
Great private beach! The house and guest house together offer ample room for a big family. We had dinner outside on the balcony several nights...really awesome views;) I would give 5 stars but we found the road to be a bit challenging. The owner and manager are wonderful to work with, simply get a 4 wheel drive and enjoy!

Owner response: Thank you for your nice review of the house. The Road??? I sadly have to laugh because my response is "what's wrong with the road" but that's not fair. Having lived at this house for almost 30 years before turning the house in to this lovely short term rental I can only say you should have seen the road before!! I always hope that guests will turn the road into part of the adventure in staying at the house. One has to also recognize that the long winding road is what helps keep our home private. No one ventures down just to go sightseeing. Thanks again for your kind thoughts and I hope that future visitors will find the road less of an obstacle. Donald
Our family has previously stayed at two other rentals in the Virgin Islands; however, the Beach House is by far the best! We initially did a web search for properties which included four/five bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, and a private beach. We found the Beach House on Trip Advisor and on their own website at http://www.thebeachhousestthomas.com We contacted the owner, Dr. P., who is a well-respected dentist and resident of St. Thomas. We had many questions regarding the Beach House, which he answered immediately and to our satisfaction. Dr. P. is a gracious host and he has telephone access if you have a question. We were greeted upon arrival at the airport by the house manager, Camille, who is very pleasant and knowledgeable. We stopped at a nice little store to pick up some food items and beverages before following her to the Beach House. The Beach House has a wide-screen television with all the channels including the movie channels. There was great internet and Wi-Fi at the Beach House along with washer/dryer for doing laundry. The kitchen was modern and it had a dishwasher, flat top stove/oven, microwave, and large refrigerator. There is a separate guest house with additional bedrooms and bathrooms. There are plenty of outdoor showers to clean up after your beach adventure. Dr. P. also has a large hot tub for guests to relax in while enjoying the spectacular view. The view from the home is breathtaking. We enjoyed gazing at the multi-colored waters of the Caribbean and hearing the waves lap against the shoreline. The private sand beach is one amenity that the Beach House has that very few rental properties have on the islands. There is a stairway directly down to the beach. Snorkeling was magnificent since there is reef within thirty yards of the shoreline. Small fish, coral, and other sea life are present on the reef. The home and guest house are set among a lush tropical forest along the north coast of the island. The property is very private and there is a main gate with a remote access before you venture down the road to the home. There are tropical birds, pelicans, and native wildlife around the Beach House, so you can enjoy a truly eco-adventure. We highly recommend the Beach House as an island getaway!

Owner response: Thank you very much for your kind words and wonderful description of our special house. I am especially happy that you got to meet and enjoy our new manager, Camille. She is a wonderful asset to us and are thrilled to have her become a part of the property. Like my wife, Carolyn, Camille was raised in St. Thomas and is truly an island girl who knows the ins and outs of the island and her wealth of information due to experience is invaluable. I am sure that all who enjoy the house in the future will benefit from Camille's presence. Donald
We rented this charming, very secluded home with another family who are great friends of ours and with kids of similar age. We were looking for a house that was beachfront and found it! The pictures only give you a glimpse of the paradise that awaits you once you look out off the deck or once you've gone down the steps to your very own private, sandy beach, with palm trees providing shade when you've had enough sun. Dr. P (the owner) has a boathouse on the beach that is fully stocked with plenty of stuff for all ages -- snorkeling gear, 2 kayaks, aquashoes, chaise lounges, boogie boards, noodles, rafts and various floaties. We brought music, and drinks down from the main house and chilled out most every day. There are reefs about 30 yards off the shore that have fish where we snorkeled and kayaked on calm water days and boogie boarded when the waves kicked up. Your own beach is framed by a beautiful rocky cliffside and is where the main house and cottage house are nestled. Great outdoor patio dining was where all 9 of us ate most nights when we cooked in. Go down to the beach at night and look back at the house when it's lit up. Awesome -- plus we had a full moon which lit the beach for late night drinks. When eating out -- gotta go to Thirteen -- the best restaurant we found on the island for combo of atmosphere and fine dining -- kid friendly too! Dr P goes out of his way to check in with you and answer all your questions before you arrive, then call and may even visit you just to make sure everything is ok -- we had a clogged shower and next day he was out and fixed it. We miss it already and would go back in a heartbeat.

When we arrived at the airport the owner was waiting to help us with our bags and take us to the house. I suppose I should not have been surprised at that because he had been so very helpful in arranging car rental And giving us some good leads on a wonderful caterer. When we arrived at the house we walked straight through the kitchen and out through the living room and onto the most beautiful deck that I have ever been on and we have done quite a bit of traveling And stayed in some very lovely places. One of the most enduring memories anyone who visits St. Thomas will have is the color. From the deck you can see turquoise, aquamarine, oranges, greens, purples And gold – a veritable artists palate of lovely pastels. All of the amenities are available from a good cup of coffee in the morning until an aperitif in the evening. The private beach is just that And the small outbuilding down at the beach has kayaks, snorkeling gear, and nice beach chairs. The house is centrally located and we definitely plan on going back. My entire family loved the house but without question our favorite feature was the outdoor eating area where we spent most of our time and enjoyed a number of tremendous meals. We took several members of our extended family and there was plenty of room for a larger group such as we had but this would also be an incredible spot for a romantic getaway. The perfect place to relax!

Owner response: Thank you so much!! I have never had anyone describe our beautiful Caribbean colors so wonderfully. It's true!! When I give the iniital tour I often mention that the covered outdoor dining and lounging area is where you will spend a great deal of time and you became a believer. It is my favorite place, too. I appreciate the kind words and hope that you and your family will return soon, Donald
The standards were set very high before we ever even stepped onto the property, We received an offer to make a shopping run so that we had food and drinks when we arrived, followed by another offer to meet us at the airport to guide us to the house and walk us through all the details of our two week stay. Let's just say, it only got better from here. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome from the property manager who got us to our rental car, then quickly brought us to the house. From the minute we walked down the stairs, we were in awe. The landscape is amazing and you are truly secluded, giant palm trees, beautiful flowers, and an immaculately kept house. Our venture onto the deck literally took all of our breath away. The pictures are great, but until you feel the ocean breeze and see that amazing turquoise water as you hear the waves lapping onto the shore, you can't possibly imagine what you are in for. All of the rooms have more than adequate accommodations and the outdoor showers offer a very tropical touch to the houses. We were very well prepared for what we needed to do during our stay to ensure that we had the absolute best experience. The beach is INCREDIBLE, a nice balance of reef and sandy beach, everyone can have a great time no matter what your interest. A store house has everything you could need to completely enjoy it, water socks, snorkeling gear, body boards, footballs...you get the idea. Overall, not one single complaint. We would go back in heartbeat and felt completely spoiled for our time there when we had to return back to reality. This will be a trip that our group makes again and again and we can't imagine staying in a more perfect place.

Couldn't be happier that your expectations were met and that your vacation was as you hoped. Please do come back, we'd love to have you. Thank you, Donald
Perfect Beach House
Perfect Beach House
There's a group of us that travel to a new island every year and we'll rent a house for our stay instead of staying in a hotel. We rented the Beach House in St. Thomas in May and had an absolutely wonderful time! The home is secluded in the hills of Caret Bay and you have your own private beach! The home is well appointed and has everything you would need while vacationing. We loved the large outdoor dining area and covered deck where you could escape the mid-day sun when needed, yet still enjoy being outside. There was so much nature around the house and we enjoyed exploring the hills around the house. The beach was amazing! Everything you needed to enjoy a day on the beach was right there and the snorkeling was some of the best we've ever seen! You really don't need to leave the house! When we go back to St. Thomas we'll definitely look to rent this wonderful house again. It's by the far the best we've rented!

It is better than it sounds and looks. WOW!
It is better than it sounds and looks. WOW!
total seclusion and fun times. Truly your own private beach and reef that really is better than most of the snorkeling tours. The reef on left side of the beach goes for hundreds of yards to the west and only fifty feet from shore and up to fifty feet deep with tons of coral and fish. Swam with a sea turtle and fed the fishes. Really is a different world. The other reviews are correct, you really do not need to leave the beach house. The beach house has its own generator which is a major plus when power is out We had Gena provision the home to eliminate the need to go shopping and Donald was most helpful with Everything. We literally snorkeled every day. Sometimes 3 or 4 times except when we took a Breakaway cruise to baths with stop in josh van dyke and the soggy dollar bar. Really fun. If you want to do some touristy shopping you have to try MountainTop on st peters mountain that provides great views of most virgin islands and shopping under one roof. Clothes, hats, shoes, shorts, dresses, jewelry, trinkets, etc. Make sure you get good directions as it is hard to locate. Also try Amelia car rental, had great rates, met me at airport w car, brand new nissan 7 pass pathfinder, 4wd and met me again at airport for drop off. Also remember everything costs more on the island. One of our best vacations ever with our 5 kids and would highly recommend Donalds Beach House to anyone who really wants to experience your own private paradise. Really.

Best Vacation Ever!
Best Vacation Ever!
This home is the absolute ideal vacation spot! The pictures only begin to capture how exquisite it is. The stunning views, beautiful home and secluded beach made us wish we never had to leave. We felt welcome and at ease from the moment we set foot on the island with the help of Donald (the owner). His extreme helpfulness with everything from car rentals to directions to recommendations for dining, shopping, etc. removed any worry about being in unknown territory. It was truly our pleasure to meet him, and we greatly appreciated his availability and his warm, friendly manner. The Beach House is truly paradise. We found that we had no desire to go anywhere else because it couldn't top what we had right out the front door. The reef was tremendous. It provides amazing snorkeling and is so close that our young children could view this underwater adventure with ease. And yet, it is also extensive. With further exploration we saw more varieties of sea life than my husband has on many scuba dives. We also loved the fact that there were plenty of beach accessories for our use...sand toys, chairs, kayaks, snorkel gear, towels, etc. And if the beach isn't enough, the villa completes the picture. It was lovely. All the comforts of home, but with a view of the Caribbean! After a day on the beach we could continue to enjoy the setting relaxing in the hot tub or making use of the terrific grill and fantastic al fresco dining overlooking the ocean. Unlike many vacations which seem like work and leave you exhausted, begging for home at the end of your trip; The Beach House is appointed in such a way that nothing but relaxation and enjoyment is required of you. We loved every second of this vacation!

Owner response: Meeting Joel and Jen and the kids was also a treat for me. Made me wish I still lived at the house with my three daughters when they were little. It is truly a family home and I'm always delighted when people appreciate our home as much as we do ourselves. As I always tell guests, it's more fun to stay at the Beach House then go crazy being tourists all over the island. Thank you for being such wonderful guests!! Donald
Our family of 10 just returned from a week long stay at The Beach House and we all just loved it! There was plenty of room for everyone and having the private beach at the bottom of the stairway was the main attraction! The back porch is huge and is the perfect spot to see the sun rise and set along the ocean. The house was exceptional clean and had beautiful furniture in every room. The house has everything, so the only time we left was for shopping. Since we were able to snorkel and kayak in the "back yard", we saved money by not having to pay for these water activities elsewhere. Very few houses have AC, so it was definately a plus during the hot weather in June. The owner greeted us at the airport and escorted us to the house and even called to check on us during the week. I would highly recommend this property and we're going to rent it again when we return to St. Thomas.

Owner response: It was great having Kayoko, brother KK and family visit us. With the difficult times everyone had traveling I'm sure that relaxing at the house was what they wanted to do most. I am always thrilled when folks enjoy our natural beauty and especially take advantage of the incredible "backyard" the Beach House has to offer. I will look forward to the return visit. Thank you, Donald
The Most Amazing Hidden Treasure on the Island
The Most Amazing Hidden Treasure on the Island
It has has been a year and half since my wife and I spent our honeymoon at The Beach House. We still talk about our vacation there like it was yesterday. We are terrible at writing reviews but figured since we are thinking of going back and that it was such an amazing place, we should probably write a review. I will say that no words, pictures or even video can really do the beach house and all it has to offer proper justice. The house is nestled in the tree tops of giant palms that has a spectacular view over the cove and ocean. It really feels like it is the tree house of the Swiss Family Robinson. The decor gives a great homey and beach feel. There are a lot of simple additions to the house that add so much to the experience like the yellow lights that line the drive way and lights all around the deck, the several outside showers to wash off sand, the built in grill and countertops, etc. The deck was one of our favorite parts, just sitting out there having an afternoon lunch with a few drinks with a breathtaking view. The beach is completely secluded, private, very large with lots of sand. There is even a spot to make a big bon fire. There is a huge rock that you can swim or kayak to and climb and explore. It is a great fishing spot or place to watch the sunset or read a book. Snorkeling is unreal with a large reef just steps into the water. We went snorkeling all over St. Thomas and St. John, including on a sailboat adventure and never found the snorkeling as good as right there in front of the house. Amazing! It reminds me of Nemo and Marlin's home in the movie "Finding Nemo". The house and beach are truly magical. Even driving to the house is a jungle-laden adventure. Donald was so gracious as well. He couldn't meet us at the airport so his daughter met us and took us to the house. Donald dropped by later to give the grand tour and even brought us a pizza. Our honeymoon was truly an amazing experience and loved every minute of it. I wish we could go back more often. If you are weighing Donald's beach house as an option...go for it! You can't go wrong. It's a perfect place for a honeymoon, family vacation (even with little ones), a getaway with friends, a laid back or high energy vacation. Highly Recommend it!

My husband and I were blessed to spend our honeymoon at "The Beach House" and had an absolute relaxing and fun filled adventure on the Island. We enjoyed the water front the Beach house offered as well as the spectacular snorkeling around the reef right there on the private beach... the BEST snorkeling on the island by far! We realized that we could have spent our entire time right there at the house and gotten the best of ALL the Virgin Islands! We plan on returning for another vacation with more family and friends to share the positive experience we had. Donald Pomeranz (owner) is extremely reliable, ethical and will take care of you. He even brought us a pizza our first night at the house since we didn't have time to go to the grocery store. You will not be disappointed if booking a vacation at "The Beach House!"

Excellent island hideaway
We really enjoyed a week on St. Thomas in this excellent house. There is beautiful snorkeling right off the beach in front of the house when the water is calm, and kayaks to go paddling with as well. The location is very private and beautifully situated above the beach, surrounded by trees. Still, it's easy to drive over for shopping in the town once you get used to the hilly St. Thomas roads. Highly recommended.

Owner response: Dave's discovery of the underwater world in front of the house was wonderful. His underwater photographs show the beauty that is the reef in front of the house and its secret charm. As we've been told by many rentors the snorkeling in front of the house is some of the best they've ever seen and Dave proved their case.
My family stayed at this house in February 2009 & had the best vacation ever! The pictures do not do justice to the house or the land. It is such a beautiful place, very comfortable & has breath taking views! The snorkeling is awesome, the water is superb & I just can't say enough about what an incredible place it is for a vacation. It's just paradise. ! You can't go wrong with this place if you want your own private paradise. The beach is so secluded you could actually go skinny dipping if you wanted! We all had a separate area to sleep that gave the 3 groups of us total privacy which was great! The house is equipped with just anything you could possibly need including a stocked bar. This was actually the cheapest vacation we ever had as far as spending money seeing & doing things because no one wanted to go anywhere - we all only wanted to stay at the house. We bought groceries & stayed home for the most part. And to top it off Donald, the owner is such a nice person you can’t help but like him right from the start. I would recommend this to anyone who likes privacy & seclusion in a beautiful setting.

Owner response: I have to blush when I get such a nice review, both the house and me. Rose and her family were a delight to be around and I was thrilled that they all enjoyed themselves. It's wonderful when guests can relax and forget about their Stateside cares and woes and chill out at The Beach House. It truly makes the short term rental business here a pleasure. I have known this house and property for over 25 years and if you cannot relax here you don't know how to relax!
