The living room, dining room, and kitchen form a "great room" with a cathedral ceiling lit from above by a ventialating cupola. A screened porch (called by a local resident "one of the great rooms on Cape Cod") shares the view and is a great place for a peaceful dinner after a day at the beach. Living room with fire place, sunroom, den, and deck provide additional inside and outside seating areas. Elevation, many windows, and a careful layout contribute to excellent cross ventilation in the summer; tight construction, a gas furnace, and storm windows provide comfort in cooler weather.
The house provides a perfect set-up for family groups, with flexibility in sleeping areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and two full baths plus an outdoor shower. On a well-tread lot on a cul-de-sac, the house is peaceful -- but with its central location, it is an excellent base from which to explore the Cape. The house is close to beaches, boating, restaurants, and historic sites. Nearby Barnstable Village, founded in the Pilgrim era, is an embarkation point for fishing expeditions and whale watching curses. Cape Cod National Seashore is only a short drive away.
