I stayed here with my nephews 12 and 13 for four nights. It was a lovely apartment, absolutely clean and in a very quiet location. It is close to supermarkets and transportation and within walking distance to the Coliseum and Roman Forum. The service was great. Marco organized a shuttle from the airport for us and gave us a warm welcome and orientation when we arrived.

We loved the apartment. Marco and staff were very helpful with great tips for restaurants and places to visit. The location was great, and the apartment very comfortable for the six people who stayed there. We felt like we lived in the neighborhood. The only downside - it was across the street from an Irish Pub, and out stay included St. Patrick's day!

Marco was great to deal with and very accommodating (for example, we needed both an early check in and late check out and had one issue where the hot water stopped working and he was there in 2 minutes to help). He gives you some great recommendations for restaurants and markets as well, and maps and guidebooks are available for your use. The location is nice, in terms of being super close to both metro lines, a quick jaunt to Termini station and in between the Colosseum area and the other tourist sites, while tucked in a side street. Be aware, however, this is Rome so bring your ear plugs as there is a bit of city noise most of the time. Right on the street, you can find a bakery and some quick food stops along with trattorias and an Irish Pub, which is quite convenient if you'd like a nightcap as it is directly across the street. The apartment itself is very spacious. It would be way more than one couple would need, good for two couples or a family especially if you wanted to cook in the apartment or spend time relaxing there between sightseeing. We were out and about so much we probably didn't need all that space, but you'll find plenty of room to spread out. The layout is pretty separated so it allows everyone their own space, not often true in European apartments. One bedroom is on the far side of the living room (facing the front street), with use of a bathroom at the far end of the hallway by the kitchen. The other bedroom is across from the entrance with en suite bathroom. The living room is large with a (pull out, I believe?) couch and chairs. Very clean (you also get a cleaning after 3 days, which I have found is not usually the case in rental apartments, so it was nice this was provided for change of towels, freshen things up) and nicely furnished. Cute theme of the Mok, with lots of related decor. Just to make sure you know the details (all laid out in the listing exactly as stated): No washing machine, no freezer (typically fine for vacation anyway) and pretty small showers...nothing unusual for Europe. Up one flight of stairs with no elevator. Marco manages other apartments and a B&B in the building (and their office is downstairs) so it is also nice having such ease of access for any needs you might have.

We loved the apartment. Marco and staff were very helpful with great tips for restaurants and places to visit. The location was great, and the apartment very comfortable for the six people who stayed there. We felt like we lived in the neighborhood. I wanted to celebrate my 50th with family and friends and having decided on a week in Rome I spent hours agonising over various apartments, none of which quite suited our needs or were over budget. When I discovered Flipkey - which I will absolutely use again - and made contact with Marco and andrea, everything clicked into place. We were a group of 7, needing 4 separate bedrooms and shared catering facilities and Marco and andrea were able to come up with the ideal solution for us. Being a large group brought some complications and confusion but Marco was really understanding and helpful. These guys work really hard to make your stay a happy one. The apartment was lovely and the 2 B&B; rooms on the top floor were cool too. We used the self-catering facilities quite a lot and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, apartment very clean, lovely and warm. I'd really recommend Mok House for groups of adults like ours - it worked really well for us. The location is good too, within walking distance of all the sights (mind you, we all like walking), down a little side street, very handy for Termini and some nice restaurants in the area. I'd definitely go back there.

I would highly recommend Mok'house. The hosts are welcoming and inviting. You absolutely feel like home there. The apartment is clean and has everything needed for a wonderful trip. The location is terrific which is why we originally selected the location but we will keep going back there since it was so warm and welcoming!

This was a perfect place to stay--very clean and centrally located. Marco and Andrea were wonderful. I'd recommend writing their many suggestions of restaurants down; it was almost too much for me to remember. We loved the gelato place down the street that they recommended. The "500" apartment is very clean, nice little balcony. It's on the 4th floor, but they saved my husband a heart attack by carrying up our luggage. We would definitely stay here again. Even the van they called to take us to the airport was a good experience-- a very interesting man drove us. Recommendation to guests staying in Rome: it's worth it to make reservations at restaurants in Rome. We missed out on a couple by not doing so.

We loved this apartment! It was a new neighborhood in Rome for me-one that I hadn't stayed in before-and although it was a ways away from the center, I found a whole new world. The apartment was great. It was clean, stocked with kitchen supplies and full of local art. Check in was very easy, and Marco welcomed us despite us arriving so early in the morning! Thank you Marco for a wonderful stay in Rome! We will definitely come back and stay in the Mok apartment again!

My stay at mok'house in Rome.

I just left Roma after a week's stay, and mok'house was such a great base for seeing everything in this busy city. It was within walking distance to everything I wanted to see. Marco was an amazing host, and showed me all of the best places to eat and shop. Even though the hall stairways and walls were in the process of renovation, this did little to dampen my enthusiasm for the city and especially this neighborhood. Right across the street was a little pub, just beside that was a phenomenal bakery, with just about everything you could ask for...from the meal, to the wine, to the dessert! Just doors down the street was the most amazing little restaurant, "Il Nipotino del Solitario", where Marco assured me I would find great service and excellent food...that was so true. I had several meals there, and brought friends there that I met on a Vatican tour on my last evening in Roma, who were just as impressed as I. Thanks Marco and Andrea for a wonderful week in mok'house...I will be back!

Magnificent Mok House & Marco

Spent 9 days at Mok house with 2 adult daughters and wife. Marco is a terrific host -- trip greatly enhanced by his through description of local restaurants, stores, and things-to-do. Mok house is as described - the bedrooms are huge. Tastefully decorated. On rustic and interesting alley/street. The kitchen is quite separate and nicely equipped. Nice hallway inside apartment between rooms. Nice tiled/marble floor throughout. Building is historic, walk up to 2nd floor through lobby entry (not renovated yet). Restaurant 4 doors down was so good and reasonable that we ate there 4 days and talked with the gracious owner, Ricardo. Location terrific - I walk fast, 10 minutes to Termini station, 14 minutes to Colosseum, 3 minutes to Marie Maggione Church & stop for Rome tours. Neat cafes and restaurants and supermarket close. Caveat: Stairs up to 2nd floor. Street noise at night due to proximity of entertainment (I just take earplugs since I like central locations). Highly recommended!

mok'house in Rome -- the apartment has two full baths and a kitchen!

We stayed in the mok'house guest apartment in the middle of July, and it was clean, spacious, safe, and well equipped for our family of 5. This was our first Rome visit, and we booked online so did not know the area--the location is ideal for someone coming from the train station and it is near the ruins and tourist sights. And although the area seemed a little rundown at first glance (graffiti, trash in street, paint peeling), we came to realize that much of Rome looks like that in summer and that the neighborhood is actually charming and busy, with small cafes, a coffee bar, and a wonderful bakery right across the street. Fans did an adequate job and we were not in during the heat of the day anyway. Marco has big plans for renovation of the old building and it will soon have even more charm and space. The hosts were waiting and eager to help with luggage, recommendations, and anything else guests might need.

Lucca and Rome

We are a family of four and we stayed at Corte Fatinelli in Lucca for one week and then the Moka apartment in Rome for one week. Andrea and Marco were wonderful hosts - welcoming and helpful with all of our needs. We really appreciated how easy it was to work with them and to line up both apartments at once. Both apartments were spacious and wonderfully located. Neither apartment has AC and we were in Italy during a heat wave, so we would recommend avoiding the hot months if that would be a problem for you. We will definitely work with Andrea and Marco again when we return to Italy - hopefully in the near future!

Andrea was very helpful in all aspects of our vacation. We had an enjoyable visit in Rome and won't hesitate to return to this flat. The location was conveniently located by the Colleseum, Roman Forum, Capital Hill and the Metro. Many shops around the area and the several supermercato (supermarkets). Thank you, Andrea, for arranging the airport shuttle for our early morning departure. The shuttle was on time and got us to the airport safely.

My brother, sister-in-law and I stayed in Corte Fatinelli and were very pleased with its location and the security of the car in a private lot. Driving in Lucca is not for the faint of heart, with tourists and bicyclists and some cars and buses coming in every direction. So we left the car parked safely and walked or took the train or bus. The apartment was wonderful, the 51 steps a bit challenging after touring all day, but the views were well worth it. Luigi and Silvana were very helpful and even locals on the street when your maps and the street names didn't match. Luigi's history on the apartment was very interesting and made us feel special. We did go to the church where Santa Zita is mummified. We enjoyed our stay and the accommodations.

The Mok'house on Via ai Monti was wonderful. We stayed a full two weeks in August with our kids (ages 5 and 8)and had an absolutely wonderful time. The apartment is perfect, with everything you could want supplied and the location is optimal for doing any sightseeing you might want to do. Marco is a wonderful host and made us fee truly at home. Great Roma Inn near the history area

We had three great days in Roma thanks to Marco, Andrea and their qualified tour guide Sonoma. The apartment in the mok'house was charming and well stocked, including wine (for purchase) including two bedrooms and two baths which for two couples worked out great. Don't be taken back by the front entries lack of paint because when you get to the room floors all is imaculate. Marco is remodeling from the top floor down so the mok'house is a work in progress. If you're looking for a tour guide, ask Marco to get you Sonoma, she's cute, delightful and EXTREEMLY qualified. We asked them to get us tickets in advance and we didn't get ourselves stuck in lines at some locations. Going to Roma? Go to the mok'house. You will love it like we did.

Three nights in Rome

While the Mok House is located in a modest neighborhood, we found the area friendly, safe and containing a few great surprises like the church accross the street and the closeness of the Forum & Coliseum. The apartment accommodations were clean, nicely decorated, and spacious. However, the best part of our stay at Mok House was the warm welcome and hospitality extended by our host, Marco. As often as we bugged him with questions, he always had the answers and seemed genuinely glad to help. I would be glad to return to Mok House.

Our family had the opportunity to vacation in Rome the in July. We were fortunate enough that we "found" MokHouse and Marco. The accommodations were better than advertised, and Marco's attentative manner was above and beyond what we expected. His excellent English made communications very easy. His recommendations for sight seeing and restaurants were spot on as well. One cannot go wrong staying at the MokHouse!

It was a very quick decision to visit a Rome. This time with children. The Appartment was just like a description of it. Nothing was missing. A great advantage of it was a very short distances to almost all important locations in Rome. The appartment was well maintaned (new) and very clean. We stayed at mokhouse with our three daughters (ages 15, 13 and 10) in June for one week. The location of the apartment and the apartment itself were perfect. We could easily walk to most of the sights. And the neighborhood of Monti is charming. We can not say enough nice things about Marco and Andrea. They were so hospitable and a great source of knowledge. We highly recommend this place and will gladly stay with them on return trips to Rome.

My wife and I had a lovely time at Mok'house. Marco is a friendly honest and very helpful host. The apartment is a very relaxing place, and has everything that you might require. It is also very stylish and spotlessly clean. Mok'house is in a great location. It's in a quiet spot, but only a short walk from the Metro, train/bus station, and is also metres from a main bus route, which I would recommend for cheap travel around Rome. For our next trip to Rome I would be very disappointed if I were not able to book Mok'house again. Well done Marco, and thank you!

From the momment we arrived Marco had Emmanuele pick us up from the Airport. He brought us back. Helped us unload our luggage with Marcos help. (It is silly to hire a taxi or pay for the train with all the hassle you have to go through, the 65 Euros we paid Emmanuelle was a bargain. Trust Me!) We settled in easily at Mok'house. Very cute little flat and immaculately clean. My wife and I loved the fact that Marco not only lives in the apartment above Mok'house... Marco hired us an excellent tour guide, She is fantastic and so very knowledgeable. I regret not having more time with her but if anyone needs or is curious about a guide please ask for Simona. She is a crackerjack tour guide. You won't regret the experience. You wont regret anything about Mok'house except the day you have to leave. Thanks Marco!!!!!!

We stayed at the Mok House for the weekend of the Rome Marathon and very much enjoyed the beautiful flat, the prime location and the wonderful hospitality of Marco. Thanks for the great stay and we will stay again next time we are in Rome.

I am a regular traveler, and whenever I stay in a city for more than three or four days, I look for short-term apartment rentals rather than hotels. I have done that in cities like Paris, Barcelona and Buenos Aires, and I have to say that in my Rome experience with Mok'House, the condition of the apartment, the equipment and décor, the quality of the service, the care for details, the location, and, over all, the kindness of the lessors, Sergio, Marco and Andrea, have made this property to stand over all the ones I have stayed in the past. I highly recommend Mok’House, and with no doubt I will stay there again when in Rome. By the way, Sergio mentioned to me that they have also accommodations in Umbria…

My husband and I stayed at Mok'house for 2 weeks in September - October. We found it is a good time to travel to Italy because the crowds are gone and the weather with blue skies everyday is beautiful. Marco, the manager and son of the owner is a remarkable person who has the best interests of his clients. We were so pleased with his management as he was accessible always, so friendly, and willing to assist us in every way. The suite is spacious, very practical,spotless and beautiful. We felt comfortable and safe in a location that is close to all the historical sites, private, yet in the heart of Italian culture and life. Marco, Sergio and Andreas as proprietors were excellent. Along with my wife and two teenagers, I found mok house to be first-rate. We greatly appreciated Marco's hospitality. The apartment actually exceeded our expectations. We thought it was perfect for a family for a week stay, allowing us to see Rome from a good location and have a comfortable place to return to every day. This New Yorker highly recommends it.
