Enjoy a wonderful holiday at our delightful, traditional stone-built village house on the unspoiled island of Kythira. The house has been renovated to provide accommodation on two levels. Ground floor: living room with original open fireplace, full kitchen, twin bedroom, bathroom.
Lower ground floor: separate entrance, twin bedroom, bathroom, utility area with washing machine.
Outside, there are paved terraces equipped with tables and chairs, and shaded by vines to front and rear and a large garden containing orange, lemon, pomegranate, fig, loquat, almond, apricot and olive trees.
The house is situated in a delightful area, on the outskirts of the village of Karavas, in a beautiful wooded valley, close to the river and the springs of Amir Ali and Portokalia.
In the village, you will find an award-winning traditional bakery, housed in a converted olive press, and, in a lovely situation by the river, the friendly Amir Ali cafe, where Dimitris and Alexandra serve drinks, ice creams, snacks, souvlaki etc.
The unspoiled beach of Platea Ammos is 3 km. by road, or a 2 km. walk through the valley.
The small seaside resort of Agia Pelagia, 5km away, offers a good range of restaurants and cafes, as well as a long stretch of sandy beach.
Potamos, 7km from Karavas, is a very attractive, traditional market town of small shops and cafes. An open-air market is held every Sunday throughout the summer months.
Kythira, situated off the southern tip of the Peloponnese, remains a traditional Greek island, which has not been spoilt by mass tourism or high-rise buildings. It has a permanent population of around 3,000.
Its attractions include many lovely small coves and beaches for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing, wonderful countryside for walks and sightseeing, traditional villages, Venetian castles, medieval and ancient ruins, attractive small shops and craft workshops, a good variety of excellent tavernas and cafes and local celebrations, wine festivals, and live music at venues across the island throughout the summer. |
