My girlfriends and I recnetly spent our annual Girl's Weekend at Ellery House. There were 8 of us in all and the house was a good size for us. Since it was March, it wasn't exactly beach weather. However, we did have some great spring weather, which was perfect for a long stroll on the Cliff Walk. We also did lots of shopping and browsing in the Newport area. The house was clean and comfortable for us. Rebecca was very accommodating and, except for the dogs we occasionally spotted in the back yard, we didn't even know she was in the attached apartment. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the comforts of home and we tried to leave it as neat as we has found it. The living room was great for sitting around and catching up with each other. The seating was a little limited, but we just brought in a few of the comfy chairs from the kitchen and talked all night. As always, there just wasn't enough time. We hope to get back to the area again soon! Thanks for opening your home to us, Rebecca!!
Owner response:Pam, so glad you all had a good time. Wish i could have controlled the weather for you! Sorry about the seating in the kitchen .... seating for 8 is usually pretty convenient for most parties. Maybe we should invest in a couple extra chairs for larger parties. Thanks for the feedback. For any other guests, just want to point out that due to it being "off season", & the backyard not being used by our guests due to poor weather, that the only reason the dogs were out there for a couple short periods of time. If Ellery House is occupied, & there is any chance you will be using the yard or patio, the dogs arent ever put outside. Conversely, if you have dogs yourself, we welcome them as the yard is safely fenced in, & the beach is 3 blocks away for a doggie swim! Pam, hope to see you & your friends again one day! Thank you!

My family of 5 and another family of 3 stayed in this house for a week in Aug. We had a great time. Rebecca was very friendly. Although the back of the house is sometimes owner occupied, it was never a problem. We could grilled on the deck and had complete privacy. You cannot beat the closeness to the beach, just a short car ride away. The 5 boys with us were 12-16 so it was a little cramped but the boys made it work. The house was clean and we were so happy we could bring our dog on vacation with us! Thanks Rebecca for a wonderful vacation!

The house is clean with an easy walk to the beach. All the people in our party enjoyed staying there and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a fully furnished house. We also spend a fair amount of time on the deck and absolutely loved the outdoor shower!! The owner was very responsive, informative and accommodating. Thank you for providing us a base for a wonderful week in Newport. - Chris
Owner response:Thanks Chris! Glad you guys enjoyed your time here!

We really loved staying at Ellery House. I only wish we could have had more time there. The house is lovely, and the location is perfect. We tried to leave everything exactly as we found it.

A group of friends squeezed into Ellery House for a cozy July 4th weekend. The amenities are all there as advertised (e.g., the chefs in the group were satisfied with their ability to whip up some tasty meals - great BBQ). Walk to the beach is a snap. The location is accessible to all the fun that Newport has, while being quiet/remote. And, it is VERY CLEAN. If we were to stay again, I would go with a smaller group (or get a second property). The house sleeps six very comfortably. Guests 7-onward just need to be comfortable with fold-out couch and/or air mattress as sleeping options.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Ellery House. We really felt at home (especially as we were able to bring our Bichon with us). The house is lovely, well decorated, and includes everything you need. The location is perfect - walking distance to a small, quiet beach and a few minutes by car to the bustle of Newport. Rebecca is warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend Ellery House if you're looking for a home away from home.

The Ellery House was perfect for our family's needs. Our daughter was getting married and the setting was convenient to our daughter and son in law, Newport, the wedding venue and the beach. The large open kitchen was the center all our family activities, the bedrooms were clean and comfortable, and we had everything we needed to have a great time. I would recommend this property to others who are looking for a family oriented vacation.

Great place for travelers to Newport! I was a part of a group of girls that spent Memorial Day weekend at the Ellery house for a bachelorette party. Rebecca was friendly and helpful and we loved playing with her dogs in the backyard. Great patio area, and location- it was a quick walk to the beach and only a 5-minute taxi ride to downtown nightlife in Newport! We had a great time, and I would recommend it to small groups looking to enjoy the area!
Owner response:Thanks so much for your stay! glad you got to enjoy the dogs, they arent always avaliable for entertainment! lol

We had a great weekend at Ellery House! The house is really cute and great for a group. Plenty of sleeping space and the owner also provided an air mattress. The only minor thing I would mention to be aware of is that while the house is absolutely very clean - the owners do have dogs which could be a problem if you are very sensitive to allergies. Also the owner's family stayed in the apartment attached to the main house for the duration of the weekend. Looking back, this was in fact in the fine print on the contract but we didn't realize until we got there. That being said, Rebecca was beyond accomodating and we felt comfortable that the house was "ours". She was also very helpful with a blown fuse emergency caused by too many hair dryers at once :) Great central location in Middletown - we walked to Atlantic Beach Club for lunch and afternoon cocktails and a short ride to downtown Newport. I would definitely recommend the Ellery House for any family or big group! Thanks for a great weekend!
Owner response:Thanks Maggie, Im glad you ladies enjoyed your celebration. Im sorry you didnt realize the property is sometimes owner occupied in the seperate apartment by 2 of us. It is stated in the VRBO ad & in the contract, but I am glad it turned out fine with you anyway. We also are sure to have in the ad that the house does allow guests to bring pets, so if you have allergies, it may not be the best place for someone who suffers from them. It was great to meet all of you & thank you so much. The house was in excellant condition when you left!

We stayed at Ellery House for a family reunion/wedding week. We all could not have been happier. We were a little hesitant because we knew that sometimes the property is owner occupied during rentals. But our stay was extremely private. The owner has a small apartement in the back of the property, that they used for part of our stay. This caused us no issues, no noise, & we rarely saw them. Passed them once or twice on the patio or neighborhood, but Rebecca & her daughter were so welcoming & pleasant, it was a pleasure to meet them! Our stay at the house was very private. We are dog lovers, so werent at all bothered that the owners 2 very friendly, well behaved, quiet dogs were occassionally with them. In fact, we never even heard the dogs during their 3 day stay on the property. The new patio they added on is spectacular & we spent many lovely evenings sitting out grilling, & many afternoons rinsing the kids in the outside shower - SO convenient! There is plenty of parking, the place was immaculate, the children were thrilled with the playroom, the adults were thrilled with the quick easy walk to the beach & access to downtown when needed (although we spent 99% of our time relaxing on the patio & at the beach, & everyone was thrilled with the condition & location of the house. Thank you Rebecca! We will most certainly be back again next year. We have used VRBO in your area 4 times, & your home was by far the cleanest & most comfortable we've seen yet!

My friends and I stayed for a bachelorette weekend Friday-Saturday in September. The house was spacious- there were three large beds, a pull out couch, pull out twin, and Rebecca provided with two air mattresses! There were 9 girls that stayed for two nights- and we never fought over a bathroom (there are 2 full baths and plenty of mirrors). The house was private, and very close to main attractions in Newport. We took a cab ride (13$) from Thames street back to the house after dinner and drinks Saturday night. One beach is very close and within walking distance, and if you wanted, the ABC is within walking distance as well. The only issue we had with the house (if you can even call it an issue) was that they didnt supply paper products (toilet paper, paper towels) and we didnt know this in advance. We just took a short ride to the grocery store to get what we needed, but it would have been good to know ahead of time! Overall we all had a wonderful stay, the bride to be had alot of fun, the beds were very comfy, and we would definitely come back again!
Owner response:Lauren (& friends!) - thanks so much for staying with us. Im so glad you enjoyed your stay & were comfortable & able to celebrate as you wished. Im so sorry about the paper products. I wish you'd called me because we have a ton stocked in the back closet. The cleaning lady must have forgotten to put out paper towels & TP for you & I apologize for the inconvenience. Hopefully we will see you again sometime!

My husband and I rented Ellery House so that we could take our 90 lb Black Lab, Hank, on vacation with us. What a great time we all had. This house wasn't an ordinary rental, it was a spotless and welcoming home!! Two of my sisters and four little ones also came for the vacation. The beaches were just three blocks away. The neighborhood was friendly and the week flew by. We will always be thankful for to Rebecca for being such a gracious and helpful host. PS...My husband, notoriously difficult to please, said that our RI vacation and Ellery House was the best vacation he ever had. Our entire family has to agree.
Owner response:It was so great to meet all of you & we miss Hank! Hope to see you again one day!

This is our 5th VRBO property we have stayed at in the Newport area, & it was by far, our favorite! We loved the location, a 5 minute walk to a beautiful fairly private beach. 10 minutes to the big beach that was great for our kids. We loved the set up of the house, the outdoor shower was a MUST, & the patio was quiet & we cooked out every evening. Our kids loved the playroom, the Grandparents loved the peace, & WE loved that our whole family was very happy. Rebecca was a perfect hostess, always making sure we had anything we needed. She left us a list of great sitters, & our dog was very happy as well. Couldnt have asked for a better vacation & we plan to return next year. Save us a week Rebecca!
Owner response:Thanks so much for the kind words! Hope to see you next season!

My husband and I have stayed at Ellery House a number of times, and we have enjoyed every stay. The owner, Rebecca, is pleasant and accomodating and always makes you feel at home. The house is well maintained and comfortable, and the conveniently located near to 1st Beach in Newport and 2nd in Middletown. We hope to stay there again during our next visit. Virginia
