Part of me would rather keep mum about Thoroughfare Farm so I could keep it all to myself. But then that just wouldn't be fair to the owners, who not only take spectacular care of this idyllic homestead, but are extremely pleasant to deal with. The house is well equipped, the linens are top notch, and the views from every window were flawless. For our family it was a big game at a nearby boarding school that brought us to the area. And it couldn't have been more convenient. We were close to the school, as well as all the needed conveniences. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you're not. Culpepper is an adorable little town and has quite a few good restaurants. We were only were 2 couples, and it was wonderful for us. Yet the house can absorb many more, depending on how well your family likes to pile it on. Thank you, Beth. We can't wait to return, especially to say hi to Sophie and Katie.

Our family met at Thoroughfare Farm for a memorable reunion/vacation. With thirteen people, ages 3 to 60-something, there was plenty of room to visit, play and even have some private space for quiet activities. Everyone enjoyed having fresh eggs for breakfast (who knew a fresh egg could taste so good?), and the 10-year-old loved being the egg-finder. The donkeys were charming, and the pool was a magnet for everyone. Some of the group went hiking on Old Rag, others visited Monticello or some of the local wineries. We had wonderful meals around the big dining room table, and the porches were so relaxing in the evenings. Thanks to the owner for being so accomodating to our needs and frequent questions. We are hoping that we can return some time in the future.

Our family stayed here for a week in July and loved it. We had guests from age 2 to mid-60s and it fit our rather large group well! It is such a beautiful spot, and the house is very comfortable without being too fancy for children. The property and outdoor space is amazing. We loved hanging out by the pool, and sitting on the front and back porches. The owner was easy to work with, and responsive. We would love to return someday!

We rented Thoroughfare farm to be closer to Charlottesville for our son's graduation from UVA and combine a vacation. We had many family members visit from several states. This place is amazing. The pictures on the listing are good but to actually be in this house and on the property is unbelievable!! There is plenty of space and lots of things to do. The house has everything you could possibly need. It is well maintained and very clean. The owner provided outstanding service, was easy to work with and was extremely accomodating to my many questions. The house is also very "kid friendly." They really enjoyed going to the barn for eggs several times a day. The surroundings are breathtaking. It is also very quiet and peaceful. Having morning coffee and breakfast on the screen porch was a wonderful way to start the day. We all enjoyed being here so much that many of us have discussed making this an annual event for a family reunion.

Our book club (it's more about the wine, food and great bonding than our book) rented Thoroughfare farm for a January weekend. The property and house are incredible. The Blue Ridge mountains are really blue and the miniature donkeys like carrots, but not sugar cubes. The owners put a lot of care in offering the best of accomodations, the furniture and decorations are very tasteful and the great room with a large working fireplace was really great for the 12 of us. Through the years we have stayed in many grand homes, but this one has the best flow for large entertaining and offered the most amentities. The hot tub is located on the deck and has amazing vistas of the tranquil mountain views. Some of us went into Culpeper and discovered a quaint, historic town, while others did a wine tasting just down the road. This farm house is a gem!

This was neither our first nor our last visit to Thoroughfare Farm. The well kept home with its many amenities makes you feel comfortable as soon as you enter. Surrounded by the natural beauty, this is a perfect place to reconnect with family and friends. Swimming, hiking, playing, reading, napping as the rain hits the tin roof, candle light dinners on the screened-in porch, sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine under a sky where the Milky Way and a million stars provide your mood lighting, or turning off the lights and seeing what dark really looks like. The farm provides ample opportunities to unwind and recharge. This is an easy place to get to and a difficult place to leave.

We loved our week at Thoroughfare Farm. Our eight grandchildren loved the swimming pool and walking to the barn to gather delicious fresh eggs. Our children enjoyed the winery up the road and relaxing on the screened porch. The decorating is beautiful and the house has everything you could possibly need. I agree with 3 year old Ella that this should be Grandma and Grandpa's new house!

I was looking for a house for my extended family and was so glad to find this one that slept 18. Our age range was 2 - 67 and everyone enjoyed themselves. The house was clean and cool and there was plenty of space to be together, or to go find a space to be alone for a while. The pool was the biggest attraction for the children and they spent hours there from early morning until after dark. We loved being able to go and gather eggs each day and the children enjoyed petting and feeding the animals. The beds were comfortable and it was nice that each couple (3) could have a queen size bed. The kitchen was a perfect gathering room and it was easy for 3 or 4 people to be in there doing different things. We spent most of the time at the house in the pool but some of us enjoyed going into Culpeper for an afternoon of shopping, a trip down the road to Plow and Hearth and to Yoder's market, a day at Montpelier and a drive along Skyline drive. We saw deer playing at the edge of the property, and beautiful sunsets. The owner was easy to contact and very easy to work with. My family was pleased with our choice. I would love to be able to visit again in the fall or winter. I would highly recommend this vacation home.

This house has everything you wish for and more! We spent two weeks in July and had the best time. The house, the pool, the mountains, the hills, the trees, everything is so beautiful! We didn´t miss anything, it´s really a fully equipped home. We loved it! And what doesn´t really show on the pictures is the surroundings, this wonderful green hills everywhere you look, the cows, the pond, the varitey of trees, the butterflies, hearing the rooster crow from the barn in the morning. The kids loved the pool and the videogames, the whole family enjoyed the free internet, the larges TVs, the fresh eggs in the morning. It was like a dream, I highly recommend this property and we would love to come back. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home!
