The owner family of the appartment is very friendly and reliable. Moreover they speak an excellent english and are very helpful if you have any questions. The appartment itself is well equipped e.g. dish washer, washing machine , hair dryer etc... and very clean. Because of its location in the back part of the house it is very quiet but that also means less day light. The internet access works perfectly and is for free. It is a good area in which the appartment is located and there are plenty of bars, restaurants,shops.... The main railway station " Termini " and the subway station " Republica" are just 10 minutes away ( walking distance ). We had a great time in Rome and hopefully come back soon.Thank you.

We loved our short stay in Rome, not least because of the convenience and appointment of the apartment and warm welcome from Antonella. Just across the road a number of buses will take you to the main railway station, which connects you to the rest of Rome. Banks, a local tabaccaio (for bus tickets) and Bar Spontino around the corner for a quick coffee, furnished us with all our immediate needs. Not too much further to walk for groceries and lots of dining options. We loved the location of the apartment which was close enough to the inner city for sightseeing, but tucked away from the main tourist throng for a genuine taste of authentic Roman life. Being collected from the airport after a long flight was well worth it, particularly as we also got so see some of the main landmarks of Rome on the way to the apartment. Thank you Francesco for arranging that and for the quick and efficient way you handled all our enquiries. We will definitely recommend you apartment to our friends and look forward to another stay in the future.

My husband and I had a wonderful five nights in the apartment. We were met by the owner's father/father-law who spoke beautiful English and was very helpful and patient with all our questions. One evening we returned from a long day of touring and there was no hot water. I emailed the owner and he came to the apartment within less than aa half hour and fixed the problem because it was important to him that we have a shower that evening. Also, spoke excellent English and was most helpful with any questions, etc. We would highly recommend this apartment. We also had a wonderful dinner at one of the restaurants that was recommended and located nearby: Pizzeria Monte Carlo. Very nice supermarket nearby as well.

Our communication with the owners of this property prior to our stay was excellent. We were hesitant to rent oversees but the owners made us feel comfortable about doing so. Their communication in English is good. They arranged for an airport pick up to their apartment. The driver was professional and showed us the city before going to the apartment. We stayed at this property with a young child (2 year old). There is a small elevator but the apartment is found up one flight of stairs. The apartment is near the metro, several grocery stores, and the Borghese Garden. The father of one of the owners met us at the apartment to give us the key. He gave us a prepared list of things to see, locations of places, and a map. He spoke English and was very helpful. The apartment was the perfect size for us. There is not a view from the apartment but it is tucked in the back of the building which makes it super quiet. We found it to be the perfect retreat after a long day of sightseeing. We liked the location of the apartment because we were away from the flocks of tourist. We were also able to interact with local Italians in our area a little more. The sidewalks were not ideal with our umbrella stroller but we used it anyway and made it worked. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware. The washing machine seemed new and worked well. There is an iron and a hair dyer in the apartment. A baby cot (portable crib) was set up for us along with sheets as we requested. We did not use the AC during our stay. Overall our experience was good and we would rent the apartment again if we are lucky enough to visit Rome again.

Francesco and Antonella's apartment was a wonderful, clean, and comfortable locale for visiting Rome. They were extremely flexible with our arrival, as we didn't know our time of arrival from another city, and met us to show the apartment. Their suggestions for restaurants, transportation and other Rome activities were spot on. When we had to extend our trip for work, they were more than gracious for us to stay an extra night, and offered to find us a hotel for the last night when the apartment was rented by another party. After arriving at the hotel, we immeadiately missed the apartment and its comfort - it is by far a better way to travel than being restricted to the hotels and their hum-drum, run of the mill and high expense. Antonella even rescheduled a car to take us to the airport from our hotel. Truly a top-notch experience - I would recommend it to anyone!!!

My fiance and I recently stayed in the apartment for five nights and loved it. The apartment is tucked away deep into a building (accessed via a courtyard) so once you're inside it's incredibly quiet. It's very tastefully decorated with vintage furniture, books and art and feels like a real home. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. The washing machine works well (soap is provided) -- there is no dryer but there is a drying rack in the bathroom. We didn't cook but there were LOTS of dishes and various kitchen equipment and ingredients available should we have wanted to. Francesco was a wonderful host -- he has put together a helpful map of nearby recommended restaurants -- we tried two and thought they were both amazing, plus a wonderful local fresh food market (fantastic bread and charcuterie) -- in addition to general tips and everything you would need to help navigate Rome. He also arranged for a limo to take us to the airport at the end of our stay (for 50 euros) which took away a lot of the stress of getting to the airport. The location is very pleasant -- lots of good restaurants, pizzerias and cafes around, convenient to Termini. Very close to the Borghese Gallery. Metro is about a 10 minute walk away. On the whole this was a great experience and an incredible value (especially with the off-season rates), we felt very comfortable and were so happy to come back there after each long day of sightseeing.

My husband, daughter and I have stayed in many places in Rome over the years and this is definitely right up there with the nicest. It is a gem of an appartment, light filled, yet cosy and perfectly quiet. It is beautifully located near Porta Pia and within a fifteen to twenty minute gentle and calm stroll to the top of the Spanish Steps. The owners were very helpful and are extremely organised with information on transport, local markets, shops, restaurants etc. The kitchen is very well equiped, and the art books are an extra joy. We opted to have Francesco book a car for our journey to the airport, and that turned out to be a wonderful decision. A very comfortable Mercedes arrived on time, and the driver was superb in his professionalism aand skill. I would definately like to stay at Franceso's and Antonella's again. Thank you both for your hospitality and kindness, we could not have asked for more.

We were three adults staying in the apartment and it was excellent; the place is clean and has everything you need to make you feel like home, including fast internet. Dishwasher helped a lot since we often had dinners at home and a washing machine comes handy for longer stays. All appliances in the apartment, including heat control, work perfectly and there was washing powder for both washer and dishwasher in the apartment. There is not much light and no view – which didn’t really matter as we were never there during the day – but in return you can actually get a nice and quiet night of sleep as opposed to the tourist areas where you hear action all night. Antonella and Francesco were great hosts, immediately answered all our questions, when we needed an extra blanket Antonella stopped by within an hour. But otherwise they respect your privacy and other than a weekly cleaning you are not ever disturbed. I loved the location, it is in a safe and quieter residential area, away from the tourist crowds. For me, if a think of new York, it felt like living in the Upper West Side as opposed to Times Square – although in Rome the distances are much shorter. It is a bit of a walk to Centro Storico but if you are a fast walker it is 7 to 15 min to everywhere you want to be, otherwise it is a 20 min pleasant leisurely walk. This might become a bit of a chore by the second week since you are always taking one of the two routes that lead to Centro Storico but there are tons of buses - the public transportation in Rome is excellent and costs 1 euro - just find out which buses stop close by or get a map. There is a supermarket nearby where you can get all the basics plus the freshest mozzarella. And then there is a farmers market where my mother went almost daily to buy yet another type of cheese and prosciutto. Overall, I am very happy that I came across this apartment and if I ever go to Rome again I can’t think of a better place to stay. And Rome is a place that I left with a thought that I must come back there some day - especially now that I've mastered the art of crossing the street there!

If you are interested in a wonderfully maintained, well located one-bedroom apartment in Rome (that comfortably sleeps a family of four, if two of the family's members are on the younger/smaller side) then this is a great place. My family stayed here for three weeks in August of 2010. The apartment is near about 10 busses, walking distance to some great sites (the Villa Borghese for one), close to Rome's main train station (Termini) - so it is a great base to get around Rome and anywhere else in Italy. Our family made it a point to eat gelato every night; in walking distance of the apartment there are no fewer than 10 gelaterias. There is more to say... and more to discover: Good thing that the owners are helpful locals with tons of insider knowledge. Buon viaggio!

Thanks, Francesco, for hosting our stay in Rome, last week (mid-June, 2010)... the apartment was exactly as described by other reviewers-- very spacious and comfortable. The location is ideal particularly for the Galleria Borghese (not villa Borghese), literally a 10 minute walk away. Thanks also to Francesco for making the telephone reservation for us. Rome does not have very good metro system coverage, so transit is best by bus, and it's best to use Termini as your hub for connecting to different parts of the city. Several different buses just across the street will take you directly to Termini. However, if you have fresh legs, it's not a bad walk to various parts, as far as Castel St. Angelo, Campo di Fiori, etc.... even Trastavere, but, you may want to take the bus home. A big grocery store is about 4-5 blocks away (same route as toward Galleria Borghese) and supplied us with everything that we needed. Refrigerator/freezer keeps everything super cold, and air conditioning is also great. No microwave, however (but, conventional gas cooktop and oven). Washer is handy, but no dryer; the air is dry enough that your clothes can hang dry within a day (apt. has a clothes rack). There is a lift, but it actually puts you a few steps above the apt., so there are still a few steps to navigate. The apt. is superbly decorated with art pieces, books, etc. Very nice taste! Also, a nice collection of not-too-old travel books and maps. The bus map was very helpful, in particular. All in all, a great find!
Owner response:Thank you for the excellent review! Just a clarification: the Galleria Borghese is inside Villa Borghese, so once you have reached the Galleria you are already into the Villa and you can visit both (it is strongly recommended since both are real masterpieces). francesco & antonella

My partner Martin & I stayed at the via Piave apartment for 6 1/2 weeks, which I think makes us the longest-term guests that Francesco & Antonella have had. The apartment worked well for us because of its location and stylish, cleanly modern interior design. Rome is a city of sensory overload: it's beautiful (if often not well-maintained) with an incredible density of magnificent Old World art & architecture, but very crowded and noisy. We loved it, but it was often a relief to return to the quiet, relatively spacious, modern apartment! The kitchen is small by American standards, but we cooked often (if simply) and it functioned well. The one thing which is lacking is sunlight and views, but this was no problem for us, since we were out every day, in the sun, viewing things. The neighborhood location is a big plus, at least if you are staying more than a few days. It's on the cusp between three areas: Rome's financial district; the tourist hotel district north of the Termini train station; and the lovely, lively neighborhood of Porta Pia. All of these areas were mostly built in the late 19th- and early 20th-century: as such, the architecture is great, but (unlike in the centro storico) there's elbow room. Within a few blocks of the apartment are innumerable ristoranti, cafes, bars, gelaterie, pizzerie, trattorie, etc.; both a good supermarket and a great mercato rionale (covered neighborhood market), two post offices; many banks and ATM's; and a full range of other retail & services. I Caruso, one of the premier gelaterie of the city, is only two blocks away, in the financial district area. Aside from that, though, we mostly went into Porta Pia for dining, because it was cheaper and has mostly locals. We found Francesco & Antonella, as well as their assistant/cleaning lady Corinna, to be pleasant and accommodating. They were easily contacted and came by when needed or scheduled, but otherwise kept a low profile, which is exactly the kind of service we prefer. Their orientation, including recommendations of restaurants and attractions, was excellent. We walked a lot--the edge of the Centro Storico is only 10-15 minutes away--but we also took advantage of Rome's excellent (if often rather crowded) public transit. The apartment is very well located for multiple bus, subway, and tram options, and there is a cab stand a block away.

We had a fabulous time at the Mina's apartment. It was my Husband, I and our children 6 and 8. There was plenty of room and the children loved looking at all the wonderful books at the apartment. The location is great as well as the price. It was wonderful to be able to get a real 'Italian living' feel. Very safe neighborhood with good places to eat and great local shops (ex:clothing,grocery,shoes,linens...) Apartment is very safe and very clean with comfortable bed and fold out couch. We also enjoyed cooking some meals at the apartment-great little kitchen and well equipped. The bus is located very near as well as the subway is about a 10 to 15 min. walk. The Mina's will hire someone that can pick you up from the airport and drop you off at the airport for a fee. I strongly recommend to do this especially if you have children. It works great- all you have to do is pay the Mina's for the transport hire.

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. We found everything to be exactly as described. We appreciated Antonella's father, David, meeting us and answering all our questions about transportation, grocery stores and nearby sights. This apartment is in a very safe area, allowing us to feel comfortable coming and going both day and night. Having a bus stop directly across the street was a big plus for us as it allowed us to quickly get to Termini Station and from there, anywhere in Rome. We also loved having a good internet conncetion so we could keep in contact with family and friends. We would definitely recommend this Rome apartment.

Our one week stay in Rome at Francesca and Antonella’s apartment was fantastic! In addition, the entire transaction via VRBO was flawless. Upon Francesca’s recommendation, we used the transfer service from the airport to the apartment. We highly recommend this service. The apartment was clean and had all the amenities that we needed. The high-speed Wi-Fi was especially fast and we were able to stay in contact with our relatives via skype during our stay. The apartment is located in a very convenient area of Rome and Francesca’s recommendations for restaurants, ice cream shops and markets were great! We are looking forward to our next stay.

My wife and I had a very pleasant three-week stay in the Rome apartment on Via Piave. The dishwasher and washing machine worked well and the living-dining area provided plenty of space to spread out. It is simply, but attractively and functionally furnished, located in a quiet building, yet convenient to supermarkets, shops, stores and restaurants. The location is excellent, with bus stops in easy walking distance and the Statione Termini only a 12 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride. A great value compared with similar hotels in the area. Francesco, the owner, was very friendly and helpful all during our stay.

My wife and I had an extremely comfortable and convenient stay at the apartment in November. We were there for four days. The owner, Francesco, was extremely helpful, providing maps and helpful travel tips. The apartment is very tastefully furnished, with a kitchen, bedroom and living/dining area. The location is excellent, on a quiet, safe street, yet a short walk/bus ride to everything. There are quaint markets and restaurants close to the apartment, and we would get fresh fruits and vegetables every morning, and make breakfast and sometimes dinner. You cannot beat the location - not touristy, not crowded, yet extremely close to everything! Great place to stay, and I would highly recommend it - much better than any hotel you can think of staying in.

First of all would like to thank Francesco for his assistance in pointing out on the map what to do, where to go and how to get around. The apartment has 1 bedroom with a sofa bed. It can accommodate 4 people comfortably in a great location. From this point you can find local restaurants at a reasonable price. Also the market and grocery store are within walking distance. You can purchase bus tickets around the corner from the apartment.
