LARGE HOME NEEDS TLC

This property is beautifully situation with stunning views of Lake Gregory and close to the food market. Parking is flat and level and we were able to park two large pickup trucks and two midsize SUV's on the parking pad. The home is spacious and can comfortably accommodate a large group. That being said this property needs some routine maintenance and upkeep. There were many large cobwebs up near the ceiling areas and in the window wells. The kitchen counter tops have tiles missing and duct tape in their place. The stove top is difficult to use as the ignition system seems to need attention. The dishwasher needs to be replaced as well. The carpets were badly stained and should be replaced. The window coverings leave a lot to be desired. When we attempted to close the sheers in the master bedroom the entire rod collapsed. There are only sheers no draperies in this room so don't plan on sleeping in. We attempted to fill the jetted tub in the master bedroom but ran out of hot water and we couldn't find a way to turn on the jets. The large deck on the main level has an awning that is extended out but the canvas is ripped off the frame and flaps in the breeze and is very tattered and unsightly. I have rented homes for years in the San Bernardino Mountains through VRBO and this was the first time I have ever had to contact the owner and inquire about when I would be receiving my security deposit back. We checked out on 11-22-11 and didn't receive the check until 12-14-11 and only after I made an inquiry. This could be an amazing home and is large enough to accommodate a big group but is in desperate need of some TLC.

Owner response:Hi Verleen, I agree with you on most points. I just went up there myself last week. It was the first time I was there since April. I was depending on the reports from the cleaning crew to give me notification of any issues. Obviously, that was a mistake. The upstairs carpet is old, and we planned on changing it early next year when the rentals slow down, but when I saw it last week I was appalled and we will change the carpet sooner. The awning was a big surprise. I guess a guest left it fully extended when they left and the winds tore the canvas. The cleaning crew did not bring it in, or even notify me of the damage. I was aware of the tile in the kitchen. Datile, who made that tile discontinued that color of tile so we have been searching the US for stores that may have that in stock. In the mean time, the broken edges were sharp and we didn't want anyone to get hurt. You know how kids are always reaching up and grabbing. :) I couldn't agree with you more and we will be making improvements as soon as we have a break in the rentals.

What a great experience! Fantastic view and close to everything in Crestline. My family walked around the lake every day. The house is beautiful and very large for a 4 bedroom. We actually had 16 people staying one night and it was still comfortable. The owners were great and let us check out late. The whole experience was wonderful. My brother and niece already booked some dates for the summer. A+++

I booked the lake house for two nights Saturday and Sunday. The booking process was very simple and straightforward. The owner told me what I would be charged and when the deposit would be returned to me and he kept his word. There was no hassle no questions asked. It was easy access as there was a lock box with the key so I did not have to pick up the key anywhere. The house was clean and roomy. Small TV, but other than that included all amenities including all cooking utensils and condiments. It also had plenty of blankets to keep our guests warm! The house oversees the lake and is walking distance, about 5-8 minutes. The house is also walking distance from the local supermarket and 7-11. Great location! I would highly recommend this house for a weekend getaway!
