If you’re looking for Waikiki, this isn’t it. Our condo is located on the windward side of Oahu, in Punaluu, less than 5 minutes from Laie and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Our unit is on the third floor of a secure building.
This condo is not “walking distance” to the beach, it’s DIRECTLY ON a beautiful sandy beach. In fact, you can throw a stone from the lanai (patio) to the water. This beachfront location makes a huge difference when you’re carrying armfuls of towels, mats, snorkels and etc. In the morning, you can have breakfast on the lanai and watch the sun come up over the sea.
The beach is never crowded like other spots on Oahu. Some days you’ll have the whole beach to yourself. There’s a reef about a half-mile out, where the waves break, so the water is calm and perfect for swimming or snorkeling. If you want waves, “Pounders Beach” is 2 minutes away, and world famous Sunset Beach or Waimea Bay are only 20 minutes away.
The condo sleeps 6, usually 2 adults and 4 kids. It’s a little crowded with 6 adults, although we’ve done it ourselves a few times. It has a full kitchen; washer/dryer, queen size bed, and 2 Futon couch sleepers.
Most of these units rent for a lot more per night. We've owned this condo for 10 years, but are just starting out renting it. Until it gets well known, we're charging a discount rate. It's the same all year too. We don't charge more in December or Summer. We lived in Hawaii for ten years, and think this is the best location on Oahu. You're secluded out in the country just like old Hawaii, but if you want the city, it's only 45 minutes to Waikiki, Ala Moana, Pearl Harbor or the swap meet.
There are other smaller units in the building that are about the same price. They are the size of a hotel room. Our unit is a true one bedroom at 726 square feet. We also have a 200 square foot lanai. (Only units on the 3rd floor have the large lanai). This is a great bargain for beachfront on Oahu.
