Our home has high cathedral ceilings in the living room, kitchen and dinning area with many windows to provide a great view of the lake and surrounding outdoors.
A private and quiet, secluded lake with great bass, northern pike, crappie and sunny fishing (you can catch keepers right off the dock). (get the picture?).
There are plenty of indoor activities too; Playstation 2, movies, board games, puzzles, coloring books and crayons, cards, cribbage, chess or a friendly game of charades (If the weather isn't cooperating). After the daily activities sit around a crackling fire burning in the large stone fire pit. Cook burgers and hotdogs on the swing-out grill (don't forget the marshmallows). Relax in the 2 person Jacuzzi tub upstairs in the master bedroom suite.
Or just take a blanket to lay on and gaze at the stars.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1988
The property was purchased in 1988 and there were many years spent coming every weekend all summer camping in tents, then a camper bus and then to a small mobile home. In 2000 we started work on building the home from the ground up with the help of all the children. The home is a labor of love. Over the years we have continued to make improvements on the home and landscape to get it where it is today. In the spring and fall I still come home to enjoy the peace and quite that only the Minnesota northwoods can bring.
Why the Owner Chose Heart Lake
I have lived and traveled in many different states. When I started to look where we wanted a vacation spot I just kept coming back to northern Minnesota. There is so much variety, with the four seasons and all the lakes. Most of all the sound of the loons call on the lake on a summer night while sitting around the camp fire with friends and family.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The home is on a 480 acre private lake and very secluded with only 16 homes around the lake. Private boat landing. The fishing is excellent. Hiking trails nearby. Adjacent to state snowmobile trail. Itasca State park (headwaters of the Mississippi River) 3 miles away.

Our family consisted of a Grandmother, Mother, 16 year old boy, 12 year old daughter and an Auntie. Despite the wide variety of ages and tastes, this vacation spot filled the needs of all! Nestled among a wooded area, the cabin and lake offered an opportunity to escape and relax. We absolutely loved the access to a pontoon and enjoyed many hours of fishing. The spacious cabin allowed each of us our own space for privacy while the open living room, dining and kitchen area was perfect for cooking meals, playing games and watching television and movies. Grandma and the grandkids made an excellent meal of cheese-buttons! There was little cell service which practically pushed the 16 year old into detox the first 2 days; however, it aided all of us in letting go of our fast paced lives and to just enjoy the slow paced moments of vacation. When we needed a social "fix" we would log onto the computer that was wired to the internet. Each morning started with breakfast on the front deck, and many nights ended with s'mores in the fire pit. We even got to bring two family pets, a lap dog and a large dog. The large dog absolutely loved jumping in the lake, being someplace new with the family and was safe at night in the kennel. Our family has had discussions of returning. Thank you for your beautiful property which has given us priceless memories.

My family and I seriously had the best vacation we have had in 20 years of vacationing, The property has everything and more than the owners describe and it is totaly private, the views of the lake and the woods are great. We spent much of our time fishing (which was very fun we caught lots of sunnies, crappies and bass), one day the owners son asked me if i would like to go fishing with him on the lake in his boat which of course i did, he assisted me in catching a few northern pike which i had never caught before! We spent time shopping in a few of the towns around the area which was lots of fun for the wife and kids. We also spent time at Itaska state park it was truely a beautiful park with lots of trails to hike and even a wilderness road to drive down, you can also see the mississippi head waters at the park or if you choose they have large rocks placed at the head waters so you can walk across, very cool! we spent alot of our evenings around the large firepits just taking in the fresh air and relaxing. (did i mention they aslo provide the firewood). There are lots of things to do on the property, horse shoes, playstation for kids in the yard, gas grill, charcoal grill, they even have a shed that has lots of things in it that you can use, toys, chairs, fishing poles and tackle, water toys even marshmallow holders for useing over the fire pits. We rented the pontoon boat for our entire 16 day stay cruising the lake with my family was priceless, we saw some of the most beautiful sunsets, we also seen deers, loons, and possibly a bear, (dont worry about the bears they dont want anything to do with you... just your fish!) The home was so comfy, plenty of room to rest, play, eat and relax. there is enough stuff to do in the home that you would not even have to go out to have a good time. I would like to use the remaining time i have to talk about the owners and their son, these are truely great folks after looking thru all the pictures and albums they have at the home it is easy to see that they are hard working people striving forward to acheive the American dream, they were so down to earth and accomadating, if more people were like these folks the world would truely be a better place!! We had such a good time we are coming back in late August for another 15 day stay, just 2 months after our first stay! My family would like to say thanks to the owners again for letting us into their great lake home and letting us share some of their history there

Thank you so much for a lovely Labor Day weekend. We had family join us from St. Louis and Las Vegas and everyone had a wonderful time fishing, cooking on the firepit grill and going to Itasca State Park to walk across the Mississippi. The hosue had everything that we could have needed and was perfect for our 3 year old too who loved the swing set. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We would definitely come back again!

My husband and I live in Pennsylvania, but he is originally from Minnesota so we were looking for a place for a family reunion. All the research certainly paid off because we found the perfect place when we found Jacque’s house! Everything you could imagine was already there just waiting for us to arrive and relax. The kids loved the boat and fishing from the two docks. We had a fish fry and they really enjoyed eating the fish that they caught. They loved swimming, croquet, playing on the swing set, and all of the board games. The adults loved the horseshoes and everyone loved the fire pits--making s‘mores and burgers and telling ghost stories. We saw deer in the yard and even a bear about a mile from the cabin. We got so lucky with the weather (only a bad storm the first night and no humidity the rest of the week). The sunsets were amazing and we loved hearing the loons on the lake. There were only a few boats on the lake which made it so very peaceful. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation but a place that has it all, I promise this is your place! Jacque, your son, Michael, was very accommodating when we called with a question. Thank you again for everything!

Had a great time at Heart Land lake. The beautiful home was just as Jackie said, all you need to bring is clothes and some food. The grounds are very large and roomy with activities for everyone. Plus the fishing was great.

Absolute tranquility! Great vacation had by all! At first we missed our computers and cell phones. But that was the best thing that happened to us. We totally relaxed, fished, walked, played horseshoes, out for dinners, watched movies, saw the stars, family games, baked great stuff, etc. It's what our family really needed: a place to reconnect and relax. Next time we should stay 2 weeks instead of 1! Jacqui and her family are very accomodating. She even bought a tea kettle for us since we like to drink tea! Thank you Jacqui!
