I wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay at Brooksong. It was perfect. It far exceeded our expectations. We travel a lot and found the cabin to be our new favorite place. We were able to bring my wife's 91 year old uncle up from Brevard for the day. He was obviously impressed as well. He has been a 25 year resident of another local mountain community and it really lifted his spirits to be at your cabin. Our daughters are 13,12 and 9 and were never bored. We hope to visit again soon.

WOW! WOW!! WOW!! We have fallen in love with your amazing "Brooksong Cabin". The beautifully furnished house, amazing landscaping surrounded by a babbling brook...and to top it off with the incredible waterfall. We have been blessed by your generosity to share your slice of heaven with us. We have never felt more at peace with nature and relaxed. We hope to return again! What a blessing!

What a place you have here! The waterfall, creeks, the porch. Our most difficult time here was leaving the comfort of the porch. The birds at the feeder are awesome. I found Peace at the waterfall meditating in the mornings. Oh, but now back to the real world. Will be back here again

Enjoyed our stay - the world is beautiful here! The air was cool and clean - we enjoyed feeding the little fishes and finding their "spots". Hope to visit again!

Enjoyed our stay. Peaceful, remote area. The gravel road was well maintained and not extremely steep or curvy. The top of the driveway was a little steep, but nothing like some of the others I've seen. Our family met my goal of eating every meal outside on the beautiful deck! (We did pack a picnic one day and ate outdoors at Whitewater Falls.) Especially appreciated being provided with all the basics we needed, like kleenex and dish/laundry/bath soap, all towels, etc. The kids enjoyed the popsicles and graham crackers that you left. The only downer was that the DVD remote was missing, but luckily we had our own portable player. We didn't have cell phone coverage in the area, so be sure not to rely on cellphone maps. The kids were so happy to have Wi-fi. Very nicely landscaped, and the flowers were in bloom for us. It must be a lot of work to keep the place up like that. Lots of waterfalls in the area, but a little ways to drive to see them. We saw 10. I bought a North Carolina Waterfalls book online (by Kevin Adams), which gives directions to some lesser known falls in the area. While at the cabin, we saw Toxaway 5/10, White Owl 7/10, Whitewater 10/10, Rainbow 10/10 (a 3.5 mile or longer hike), Turtleback 6/10 (1/4 mile past Rainbow), Diamond Creek (Skip this one- no parking & not visible from one lane gravel road), Lemon (the trail you want is the one by the rock), Mill Shoals 5/10, Bird Rock 7/10 and Eastotoe 8/10. My favorite was Bird Rock Falls which is a short hike from Mill Shoals. Eastatoe Falls is a really close awesome private waterfall in someone's backyard that allows visitors. From US 64, dive 3.4 miles south on US 178 and turn right into a private gravel driveway between 2 ponds at a sign saying Mountain Meadow. Park to the left of the house. It's even closer to go Old Toxaway Road to 178 (right-South). Many more waterfalls in the area we didn't get to yet. I would recommend this cabin to a friend/relative.
Owner response:We are so grateful to have Jennifer's review. What a great list of waterfalls! We found the missing remote and returned it to a visible place! If the cabin is not rented we owners try to stay there to enjoy the atmosphere, gardens, and water. The work in keeping up this enchanted place is truly a joy.

This was the third house we have rented in the Brevard area, and by far our favorite. It was my family of three and another couple. The set up of the house was perfect for traveling with another couple as the two bedrooms are on different floors. Everything was modern and well maintained within the house. Outside was spectacular. My family, who normally runs from sun up to sun down, spent a day just relaxing outside on the property. The waterfall is much more impressive in person and the porch on the back of the house was the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. We loved the fire pit and actually cooked our dinner over an open fire one night. Definitely follow the directions that you are sent with your confirmation as there is no cell service on the mountain. The gravel driveway is steep but we were able to get up the driveway without four wheel drive (not sure that would happen in the winter though). We were also able to bring our dog who loved being able to run on the property. This cabin is definitely our first choice in Brevard.
Owner response:Thank you Mary for your kind words. What wonderful guests you are! Yes, the waterfall is impossible to photograph... even with my 6 foot husband Michael standing on one of the rocks below!

I just wanted to drop a note and say thank you. Our kids and grand kids have just left to head for home. We had one of the very best weekends ever. We could NOT have met at a better place. The atmosphere is like non other. The cabin is such a peaceful place. Our two oldest grand children loved for us to play with them in the stream and we all loved the waterfall. Sitting on the benches at the bottom was so very relaxing. We will be getting up early to start on our long ride home but just wanted to drop this note while I was still here. Thank you. This place is like non other.

What an adventure!! Every year the family fills up the truck and drives north for the holidays. This year was no different. We were welcomed into this homey cabin - much needed after not knowing the tricks to arriving to so much snow. The grounds were covered with 3-4 inches of snow "at least" on our first night's arrival. Everyday we made breakfast, sat as a family, and enjoyed the house. With so much snow around us, we wanted to stay on the grounds - which became a blessing. We visited the waterfall numerous times, made snowmen, and even made a BBQ :-). The stay was truly a memorable one. We have taken more than 300+ pictures in the house alone. With the premises being so gorgeous who would want to leave!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us! I can't think of a more peaceful and relaxing way to spend our anniversary! We love the waterfall, the stream and relaxing on the porch. The waterfalls here are beautiful, and we had a great dinner at the Quarry. We hope to return next year.

WHAT A ROMANTIC GET AWAY! We left the busy life of children, intensive care nursing, and the Afghan war to come back to peace and love. Thank you so much. Hiking the falls was awesome. We also went white water rafting and ate out twice. We felt like we were in heaven when we came back - lit the fire and had a glass of wine. We will be back!

What a magical, peaceful place! It is the perfect setting for spending time with family or just relaxing on the back porch with a cup of coffee. We loved listening to the sounds of the brook and waterfall with the cicadas percussioning softly in the background. My grandaugther loved the hammock. Some of us hiked to the tall waterfall off Rock Creek Trail where you scramble down the hillside with the aide of a wooden ladder and some knotted ropes. It was definitely worth the effort. We visited Hooker, Triple Falls and Looking Glass Falls. There was also a wonderful family dinner at the Hob Knob in Brevard. One warm afternoon was spent tubing on a local creek. Thank you so much for providing the setting for such a memorable week! We would love to return to Brooksong sometime.

We loved your place and it brought back so many memories for me as a child. My mother who is 89 years old grew up not too far from the cabin and was actually first cousins to "Gaston Chapman", who your road is named after. My Mom told me that Gaston and the Rev. Claude Hawkins would come here to Gum Bees. I hope to get more history from her about the area that she loved so much. Our family loved it all... we relaxed on your porch, and listened to the waterfalls. The first night as I sat watching TV we looked at your fireplace and I asked my daughter, who plays percussion, if the stones resembled a music note. She smiled and said it was an off-beat (eighth) note. Every detail of your home is incredible and beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us and making my memories complete!

Just wanted to tell you what an incredibly beautiful place you have in Brooksong. Our family had such a wonderful, relaxing time that we've already started discussing our return! Our 2yr old son had an incredible time playing in the stream, and the waterfall is spectacular. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us, and we'll be back! A huge thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. It is really one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. You truly have a piece of paradise. We had a WONDERFUL time at Brooksong. The cabin, grounds, brook and waterfall were amazing and exceeded our expectations. It was so nice being able to let the kids and dog play in the brook and waterfall right beside the cabin. Despite the cold water, the kids were wet to their knees every day. We also enjoyed building a bonfire outside each night. My son thanked God in his prayers when we returned for "such a wonderful Spring break"-- it doesn't get much better than that! We didn't realize there was so much to see right in Round Mountain. We only left once to see the surrounding area (horse back riding and trip to Whitewater Falls) on the last day because we enjoyed hiking and exploring right there!

What a beautiful place. The boys had such great adventures climbing hills and playing in the creeks and waterfalls. We have shared your site with a few of our friends as well. We are 'adopting the house' as OUR mountain home and will be requesting same time next year when you have the calendar available. The kids even said the vacation was better than Disney. I know for us it was a heck of a lot more relaxing. You have a very special home and we appreciate you sharing it with us. God Bless.

I wanted to let you know that we had a GREAT time at Brooksong. Really, I think it was one of my favorite vacations in the past couple of years. Your place is great and very comfortable. Hiked about 20 miles in 2 days, made some great food and really just enjoyed the surroundings. My 10 year old niece had so much fun with the swing, waterfall, hammock and generally just running around the grounds. We made full use of the kitchen and grill plus enjoyed at least part of every day at the waterfall. It even got bigger after Saturday's rain. We were very sad to leave! The dogs are still tired after all of the hiking. They not only loved just being free to roam outside, but really enjoyed how much time we spent together outside. Brooksong is not only great for families, but also a nice get away for just two. We would have been happy whether we were alone or with my brother and niece. Thank you so much for opening you home to us and I hope to make a visit back in 2008! You have a rare gem in your hands...

Recommended for: Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Romantic Getaway, Age 55+, Families with Young Children! This luxurious cabin has a European feel and is set in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains. With its own exquisite waterfall to bathe in, lots of quiet and privacy and beautiful gardens and lawn rolling down to a forest stream, it is a magical get-away. My favorite thing was sitting by the waterfall for cocktails and then grilling dinner and eating on the huge back porch in the evening to watch night fall. A beautiful 30 minutes drive through the mountains took us to Brevard for the summer music festival and some surprisingly good restaurants. Good gourmet food is also available at Poppies.(Like Whole Foods). A bit further on we explored Asheville (which some describe of the San Francisco of the south - burgeoning art community). And visiting the Biltmore estate was like exploring a European chateau. Add in some hiking and kayaking and you have a fabulous restful vacation.

Absolutely Beautiful! I recently visited this absolutely beautiful property. The gardens are amazing. So lush and green as well as beautifully manicured. The sound of the water from the stream is an ever soothing sound just outside the windows. Close to the waterfall is a seating area that is wonderful to picnic at or sit and enjoy a glass of wine. I was there with my year old son and he enjoyed all the nature. The cabin is very family friendly but would also be a very romantic secluded get-away for a couple. The owner is very accommodating and helpful in recommending places to visit. I would (and have!) highly recommend this property to all my family and friends.

I have stayed several times in all four seasons. The cabin is so secluded and peaceful, you can forget all of the outside world. Besides the on site water fall and stream, the great back porch and the fireplace, the property has wonderful hiking trails and for the more ardent hiker, you can hike down to Jocassie Lake and the Fall State Park.
